Tangueros,
I can't get enough of Moreno's singing with Rodriguez' orchestra. I enjoy the suave crooning voice over the chomping music, and I know lots of Tangueras who respond to this music the right way. Hung-yut calls it 'sleepy', I say it's 'hot'.
In this song, a guy is telling a girl "Yeah, so what? We messed around, I knew you weren't serious, you just wanted my cash, and I just wanted an easy girl". They play with fire, and in the end, they fall in love but are somehow not able to be together. The title could translate as "Through thick and thin", but that doesn't match the at first tough, cool tone that turns ironic.
EN LA BUENA Y EN LA MALA In the Good, and In the Bad
Orquesta de Enrique Rodríguez con el cantor Armando Moreno
En la buena te encontre I met you when it was good,
y en la mala te perdí and lost you when it went bad.
hoy tu amor luz de bengala Your love is just a cheap Chinese sparkler,
de sol y breve gala bright and short lived.
mi cartera fue el iman que a tu ambición My wallet was like a prince for which ambition
le hizo hacer un simulacro de pasion made you fake your passion.
vampiresa de mis noches de champán Vampiress of my champagne nights,
nunca te olvides de que, don't you ever forget
en la buena te encontre that I found you when it was hot
y en la mala te perdí and dropped you when it was not
y jamás un mal recuerdo still, you will never have an ill
tendras de mi. word to say of me.
Cayo el telon The curtain fell,
sobre tu simulación on your false love.
difunto ayer Those yesterdays of lies and pleasure
de mentira y placer. are dead.
Te di esplendor, I treated you like a star, gave you all
mis billetes y mi amor my money and my love-
fui sin querer but it was without desire,
un juguete, mujer. just a game, lady.
Y porque fui pa'vos Because I was good to you, though
un hombre bueno si I shouldn't have been, today I can say
hoy sin preocupación without a second thought-
puedo decir that I found you in the good,
que en la buena te encontre and lost you in the bad?
y en la mala te perdí I guess, in the end,
y al final me siento I feel alone so far from you.
solo lejos de ti. (it was love after all)
Manuel
첫댓글 한참 지랄지랄하더니 결국 결론은 네가 그립다라니, 뭔가 상당히 츤데레스러운 가사... -_-;
I changed the last verse because I was uncomfortable with my first translation. The meaning is basically unchanged-- the girl must be a 'goldbrick' or hooker who doesn't deserve the man's attention, but he falls for her.
Basically, they used each other. no? that's the tone I understood and according to which I translated. what is 'pa'vos'? it won't change the final translation much, but I'd like to know exactly.
literally, it is contraction of 'para' and 'vos', so 'for you'
