Acute appendicitis

<US FINDING>
-normal appedix is difficult to visualize sonographically
-anatomical landmark of appendix

1)Terminal ileum-ileocecal valve shows peristalsis and located just below abdominal walls
2)demonstrated as thick band posterior to terminal ileum,appendix is anteriorly located to ileopsoas muscle
3)Originate appendix, Usuallly contained air or fecal materials,cause dirty margin, no peristaltic blind - ended tubular structure has continuation with cecum,more than 7mm in outer diameter suggest accute appendicitis.

-inflammaed appendix as swollen, elongate or tortuous appearance
-location of appendix is variable,but most commonly located RLQ
Patient with RLQ pain must be rule out possibility of other disease such as ovarian cyst,cyst rupture,cyst torsion,ectopic pregnancy,etc.
In pediatric patents,mesenteric lymphandenopathy can rule out under US
