法性偈

Gatha on the Nature of the Dharma (Beopseong-gye / Fasheng Gatha)

法性圓融無二相 諸法不動本來寂

The Nature of the Dharma is perfectly interfused, without two forms;

All phenomena are unmoving, intrinsically tranquil from the beginning.

無名無相絶一切 證智所知非餘境

Without name or form, detached from all things;
It is known only by the certified wisdom, not by any other realm.

眞性甚深極微妙 不守自性隨緣成

The True Nature is profoundly deep and utterly subtle;
It does not hold to its own nature but is formed according to conditions.

一中一切多中一 一卽一切多卽一

All is within one, and one is within all;
One is immediately all, and the many are immediately one.

一微塵中含十方 一切塵中亦如是

A single speck of dust contains the worlds of the ten directions;
The same is true within all specks of dust.

無量遠劫卽一念 一念卽是無量劫

Measureless long eons are instantly a single moment;
A single moment is instantly measureless eons.

九世十世互相卽 仍不雜亂隔別成

The nine ages and the ten ages interpenetrate each other;
Yet they are not disorderly, but are formed separately by intervals.

初發心時便正覺 生死涅槃常共和

The moment of the first arousal of the Bodhi-mind is immediately the Perfect Enlightenment;

Samsara (birth and death) and Nirvana are always harmoniously together.

理事冥然無分別 十佛普賢大人境

Principle and phenomena are profoundly dark (unmanifest) and without discrimination;
This is the realm of the Great Person, like the Ten Buddhas and Universal Worthy (Samantabhadra).

能入海印三昧中 繁出如意不思意

Able to enter the Samadhi of the Ocean-Seal Reflection;
He infinitely produces inconceivable things at will.

雨寶益生滿虛空 衆生隨器得利益

He rains down treasures to benefit sentient beings, filling the vast sky;
Sentient beings obtain benefits according to their capacity (vessel).

是故行者還本際 叵息妄想必不得

Therefore, the practitioner returns to the Fundamental Ground;
Even if one tries not to cease deluded thoughts, it will certainly be impossible (they will cease).

無緣善巧捉如意 歸家隨分得資糧

With the excellent skill of the non-conditioned, he grasps the Wish-Fulfilling Gem;
Returns home and obtains provisions according to his share.

以陀羅尼無盡寶 莊嚴法界實寶殿

With the inexhaustible treasure of the Dharani,
He adorns the true treasure palace of the Dharma Realm.

窮坐實際中道床 舊來不動名爲佛

Ultimately, he sits on the Middle Way Throne of the Ultimate Reality;
Unmoving since ancient times, his name is called the Buddha.... 제미나이 ai /한자원본으로 번역

한글을 번역하면 이중번역이라 뜻이 더 모호할 수 있겠다는 생각이 들었어요.

그래서 한자원본으로 번역을 시키니 역시 좀 심플해지기 시작했어요.

그리고 또 용학스님께서 원본을 넣고 번역시킨다는 걸 제가 녹취를 하고 있었잖아요.

그러니까, 갑자기 생각이 났어요.

'인드라망의 거울은 어떤 물리적인 것 말고, 이런 생각이나 영감, 아이디어 역시 그렇게

이어지는 것이겠구나 멀리 있는 이야기가 아니었어.

책을 읽을 때, 책 속에서 또 책을 소개받는다는 건 젊은 시절에도 알았잖아, 근데 이렇게

사람이 사람을 소개하고 그의 생각이 나의 생각이 된다는 것 !'

그러니까 지금 생각해보면 스님들께서 원본이 어딨고, 지적재산권이 어딨냐, 막 갖다 퍼날라라 하셨잖아요.

아, 사실 조금 전에 처음으로 2018년 큰스님의 법성게 강의를 들었는데 왜 못들었을까?

생각해 보니, 그때 여행을 갔었나 봐요.

아버지가 돌아가신 해이고, 법성게가 좋다는 말을 큰스님 법문에서 많이 들어서 조카들한테

법성게 사경을 시켰어요.

카톨릭인 조카 한 명이 제일 열심히 좋아하며 썼는데, 중국어 전공이었거든요.

그런데 정작 저는 법성게가 너무나 멀게만 느껴졌었어요.

그 조카들이랑 강원도 낙산사에 가서 의상스님 기념관도 둘러 보았는데

중국에서 보내온 편지 뭐 그런 거 대충 보고

부석사 선묘낭자 이야기 대강 눈도장 찍고 나왔던 기억....법성게가 뭔지 진짜 몰랐으니까요.

며칠 전에사 일주일에 겨우 한 번 배우는 시간에 법성게가 프린트 된 천을 골똘히 보게 되었어요.

이번에 녹취하면서 법성게에 나오는 한자를 드디어 읽을 줄 알게 되었어요.

"뭘 그렇게 고상한 척 하느냐?"하고 그 교실의 반장님이 물으시더라고요.

근데 글자들을 또박 또박 읽고 겉의 뜻도 알고나자

법성게가 무척 재밌어서

"이거 엄청 재밌는 손수건이예요. 몇 년 만에사 읽게 됐어요."

하고 말씀드릴 뻔 했어요.

몇 년 동안 늘 그 수건을 10분씩은 들고 있었는데, 법공양이 이렇게 이어지는 거군요!

영어로 된 법성게 손수건도 나올까요?

_()()()_ 오늘 새로 올린 (몇 주 전에 만들었는데^^) 법성게 노래를 여기에 올릴 수 있어서 기뻐요. 법성게 읽고 싶을 때 이 난에 오면 진짜 좋을 것 같아요. 몇 개 안되는 법성게인데 왜 따로 방을 만드셨을까? 어제 궁금했는데 큰스님 사진과 법성게와 너무 행복한 방입니다. 겨우내내 들락거릴게요. 큰스님 감사합니다^^
