한국 가곡 소개: 《시가 흐르는 별》

오늘은 오랜만에 여러분에게

한국 가곡 한곡을 소개하겠습니다.

오늘 소개할 곡은

김치경 시인의 시에

신귀복 작곡가가 곡을 붙인

〈시가 흐르는 별〉입니다.

이 시에는 두 개의 별이 나옵니다.

  1) 하늘에 떠있는 별

  2) 시처럼 흐르는 마음의별

시인은 말합니다.

하늘의 별은 들에 핀 꽃처럼 아름다워서,

눈을 들어 바라볼 수 있어서 참 좋다고요.

들에 핀 꽃들도 참 아름답지만,

하늘의 별도 정말 아름답습니다.

어느 날부터 시인에게

새로운 별이 하나 생겼습니다.

그 별은 바로 마음에 뜬 별입니다.

이 별은 눈으로 보지 않아도 보이고,

흐린 날에도 볼 수 있는 별입니다.

여기에서 ‘흐린 날’은

어려운 때를 비유로 묘사한 것으로 보입니다.

우리가 어렵고 힘들 때에도 

변함없이 우리를 지켜주는

희망의 별이 있으면 얼마나 좋을까요.

이 노래에서 시인은

바로 이런 별을 소개하고 있습니다.

그 별은 바로 ‘시가 흐르는 별’입니다.

이 별은 삶이 어둡고 힘들 때에도

계속해서 시와 영감이 흘러나오게 해주는

희망의 별입니다.

이 노래에서 강조된 별은

두 번째 나오는 마음의 별입니다.

그래서 노래 후반부에서 

이 부분이 반복되고 있습니다.

노래를 감상하실 때,

이 부분에 귀 기울여 들으시면,

시인이 말하는 마음의 별이 무엇인지

더 분명하게 다가올 것입니다.

이 노래는 제가 1년 전에 부른 것입니다.

아마추어가 부른 노래라는 점을 기억하시고

Introducing a Korean Art Song:

“The Star Where the Poem Flows”

Today, I’d like to share with you a Korean art song that I cherish.

It is “The Star Where Poetry Flows,”

composed by Shin Gwi‑bok and based on a poem by Kim Chi‑kyung.

In this poem, two stars appear:

  1. The star that shines in the sky

  2. The star that rises within the heart, where poetry flows

The poet says that the star in the sky is as beautiful as a flower blooming in the field,

and that it is wonderful to lift one’s eyes and gaze upon it.

Flowers are beautiful, but so are the stars in the heavens.

Yet one day, the poet discovered another star—

a star that can be seen even when the weather is cloudy.

This star rises within the heart.

It is visible without the eyes, and shines even on days when the sky is overcast.

Here, “cloudy days” symbolize times of hardship and struggle.

How precious it would be to have a star of hope that remains with us even in difficult times.

This is the star the poet emphasizes: the second star, the star of the heart.

It is not merely a star in the sky,

but a star of hope that allows poetry and song to flow endlessly from within,

even in dark and troubled times.

That is why, in the latter part of the song, this passage is repeated twice.

When you listen carefully,

the poet’s message about the star of the heart will shine more vividly.

This recording is something I sang about a year ago.

Please remember that it was sung by an amateur,

and I would be grateful if you listen with generosity.

In this December, the season of Christmas,

may a radiant star also shine in your heart—

a star that helps you overcome trials and hardships.
