I wonder who
By D.J. YOON
Walking in the field path
I find common dayflowers blooming across the ditch
Whenever I see flowers resembling a chicken’s comb
Who first thought about naming Dalgaebee
I’m so curious
I WONDER WHO
Walking on the mountain path
I find rainbow pink flowers blooming alongside the road
Whenever I see bamboo flowers growing on a rock
Who first thought about naming Paeraengee
I’m so curious
I WONDER WHO

Appreciation Review 感想
The poet's idea seems to be simple and clear.
Flowers are beautiful.
But the names of the flowers are more beautiful.
So he wonders who in the world named the flowers.
Dalgaebee & Paeraengee
These flowers have such beautiful names.
Dalgaebee is called ‘chicken’s jangpul’, a medicinal herb that is good for high blood pressure and colds. The flower gets such a name because it resembles a chicken’s comb.
Paeraengee refers to a hat worn by a person of low status or a mourner in ancient times. The rainbow pink flower refers to a bamboo flower that grows on a rock, which is also called 石竹花.
