When Mama's gone to the island's shade (beach) to pick oysters
Baby is left all alone to watch their cottage.
Lulled by the lullaby sung by the sea
With his arm as a pillow, zzz, the baby falls asleep.
Though the baby's deeply asleep in his nap,
Yet, the sounds of seagulls trouble Mama's heart
With a not-fully filled oyster basket on her head
Mom rushes home on the sandy road.
