What kind of Christian (Disciples) we are?

Dear friends, I am sure that all Christians or believers are gathered in the house of the Lord Jesus. Christian mean followers of Christ or in others words Christ I am nothing. When we call ourselves Christian, we declared that Christ is everything and we are nothing. Christ is All in all. Amen

Brothers & sisters somebody says that life is between B and C. Here B stands for birth and D stands for death. Friends, C stands for choice. We have to choose Christ to have eternal life. Amen

John 3 : 16

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son,

that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Matthew 16 : 16 ~~~~~ Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Brothers & sisters, today let us compare ourselves with few primary Christians who call themselves the followers of Jesus. About three and half years Jesus teach and trained them. But those disciples or primary Christians denied & ran away instead of prove themselves and stand with Jesus.

Matthew 26 : 56

But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets

might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted Him and fled.

1. Simon Peter denied three times.

Jesus called 12 disciples and they all became primary Christians or believers of Jesus. Even Jesus’s

family did not believe but disciples believe. At the time of Last Supper Jesus Christ told disciples about His Crucifixion and Resurrection but they all did not believed. They were focusing earthly Kingdom not Spiritual Kingdom. Jesus told to Peter that he will deny three times but he shout no Lord never. Whatever circumstance Lord, I will stand with You & I’ll never ever leave or deny You.

John 13 : 38

Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for Me? Very truly

I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown Me three times!

Wonderful thing what we can see in Peter’s life. After denying 3 times. Peter repent & he was forgiven.

In Matthew 26 : 29 ~ 74 we can see Simon denied Jesus before rooster crows. But he repented.

Matthew 26 : 75

Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows,

you will disown Me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Friends, it’s time to examine ourselves. What kind of Christians we are? Do we believe in Jesus publicly or do we deny Jesus publicly, when there are temptations & sufferings. Let’s believe in Jesus and be strong in temptations and show Jesus through our deeds. Personally, I want to let you know one thing that we are weak and Devil is strong. Devil entangle us easily in his schemes.

1st. peter 5 : 8

Be alert & of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls

around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Revelation 2 : 10 (Last Portion)

Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.

2. Thomas the doubter.

2ndly, I want to draw your attention toward disciple Thomas. Majority of people called him Thomas the doubter. Unluckily, Thomas was absent when Jesus revealed Himself to His followers or disciples. When Thomas heard from others that Jesus is risen & they all saw Jesus alive. Thomas didn’t believe.

John 20 : 25

So the other disciples told him, “We’ve seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see

the nail marks in His hands and put my finger where the nails were,

& put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

Friends, it was not only Apostle Thomas who doubted, all other disciples also doubted.

Luke 24 : 8 ~ 12

Then they remembered His words. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven & to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, & the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. Peter, however, got up & ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

Friends, we’ve to believe in risen Jesus. We’ve to believe that He died at the Cross because of

our sins and risen to give us new life or new identity. From slave to son. (Galatians 4 : 6 ~ 7)

John 20 : 29

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen Me, you have

believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Let’s believe in Jesus as Son of God and His crucifixion, resurrection and second coming.

Matthew 24 : 36

But about that day or hour no one knows, not even

the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

3. Judas Iscariot the traitor.

3rdly, I want to share a disciple or Christian who deceive Jesus. Judas Iscariot the money lover. Jesus by Himself taught him, trained him but within a blink of eye Judas fall in temptation & betray Jesus.

John 13 : 21

After He said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified,

very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray Me.

John 18 : 2

Now Judas, who betrayed Him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with His disciples.

Friend, Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus. Later he felt sorry. He remorse but not repent. Peter denied but repent not remorse. So he was forgiven. Friends, if we make any mistake. Do not remorse only.

We have to repent and turn back as Peter did. Always remember “Don’t remorse but repent”.

Let’s examine ourselves, do we love money, status, luxury, spouse, children, friends. Etc, etc.,

God First. -- You then. -- later I

Conclusion :-

Dear brothers & sisters, today let’s examine ourselves? Primary Christians live like brothers.

Acts 4 : 32 & 34 ~ 35

All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

⓶ Do we Christian by name or Christian by faith?

⓷ There was harmony & forgiveness among them. 

⓸ Respect & love your spiritual leaders (pastors)

우리는 어떤 크리스천(제자) 입니까?

모든 크리스천이나 신자들은 틀림없이 주 예수의 전에 모일 것입니다. 크리스천은 그리스도를 따르는 자들 또는 다른 말로 ‘주님, 저는 아무 것도 아닙니다’라는 의미입니다. 우리는 스스로를 크리스천이라 하는데 그리스도는 모든 것이고 우리는 아무 것도 아님을 선포합니다. 그리스도는 모든 것입니다. 아멘.

형제자매 여러분,

어떤 사람은 인생은 B와 D사이에 있다고 말합니다. B(birth)는 출생을 나타내고 D(death)는 죽음을 나타냅니다. C(choice)는 선택을 나타냅니다.

우리는 영생을 얻기 위해 그리스도를 선택해야 합니다. 아멘.

요한복음 3 : 16

하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니 이는

그를 믿는 자마다 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이라.

마태복음 16 : 16

시몬 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주는 그리스도시요 살아계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다.

형제자매 여러분, 오늘 우리자신을 스스로 그리스도의 제자라고 부르는 몇몇 최초의 크리스천과 비교해 봅시다. 약 3년 반 동안 예수님은 그들을 가르치고 훈련하셨습니다. 하지만 그 제자들 즉 최초의 크리스천들은 스스로를 증명하며 예수와 함께 하지 않고 부인하며 달아났습니다.

마태복음 26 : 56

그러나 이렇게 된 것은 다 선지자의 글을 이루려 함이니라

하시더라 이에 제자들이 다 예수를 버리고 도망하니라.

1. 시몬 베드로는 세 번 부인했습니다.

예수님은 열두 제자를 부르셨고 그들은 모두 최초의 크리스천 즉 예수의 신자가 되었습니다. 심지어 예수의 가족도 믿지 않았지만 제자들은 믿었습니다. 최후의 만찬에서 예수 그리스도는 그분의 십자가 희생과 부활에 대해 제자들에게 말씀하셨지만 그들은 모두 믿지 않았습니다. 그들은 영적인 왕국이 아니라 지상의 왕국에 집중하고 있었습니다. 예수께서 베드로에게 그가 세 번 부인할 것이라고 말씀하셨지만 그는 주님, 결코 그렇지 않다고 소리쳤습니다. 어떤 상황에서든지 주님, 저는 당신과 함께 있을 것이고 결코 당신을 떠나거나 부인하지 않겠습니다.

요한복음 13 : 38

예수께서 대답하시되 네가 나를 위하여 네 목숨을 버리겠느냐 내가

진실로 진실로 네게 이르노니 닭 울기 전에 세 번 나를 부인하리라.

베드로의 삶에서 볼 수 있는 훌륭한 점은 베드로는 세 번 부인한 후에 회개하여 용서받았습니다. 마태복음 26:29-74에서 시몬이 닭이 울기 전에 예수를 부인한 것을 볼 수 있습니다. 하지만 그는 회개했습니다.

마태복음 26 : 75

이에 베드로가 예수의 말씀에 닭울기 전에 네가 세 번 나를

부인하리라 하심이 생각나서 밖에 나가서 심히 통곡하니라.

우리자신을 점검할 시간입니다. 우리는 어떤 크리스천입니까? 유혹과 고통이 있을 때 우리는 공개적으로 예수를 믿습니까 아니면 공개적으로 예수를 부인합니까? 예수를 믿고 유혹 중에 강해져서 우리의 행위를 통해 예수를 보입시다. 나 개인적으로는 연약하고 마귀는 강하다는 것을 알려드리고자 합니다. 마귀는 그의 계략으로 쉽게 우리를 혼란에 빠뜨립니다.

베드로전서 5 : 8 ~ 근신하라 깨어라 너희 대적 마귀가 우는 사자 같이 두루 다니며 삼킬 자를 찾나니

요한계시록 2 : 10 (후반) ~~~ 네가 죽도록 충성하라 그리하면 내가 생명의 관을 네게 주리라.

2. 의심하는 자, 도마.

두 번째, 저는 제자 도마로 여러분의 관심을 끌고자 합니다. 대부분의 사람들이 그를 의심하는 자, 도마라고 부릅니다. 예수께서 제자들에게 나타나셨을 때 불행하게도 도마는 없었습니다. 예수가 살아나셨고 그들 모두 살아계신 예수를 보았다는 것을 다른 사람들로부터 들었습니다. 도마는 믿지 않았습니다.

요한복음 20 : 25

다른 제자들이 그에게 이르되 우리가 주를 보았노라 하니 도마가 이르되 내가 그의 손의 못 자국을 보며 내 손가락을 그 못 자국에 넣으며 내 손을 그 옆구리에 넣어 보지 않고는 믿지 아니하겠노라 하니라

사도 도마뿐 아니라 다른 제자들도 모두 의심했습니다.

누가복음 24 : 8 ~ 12

그들이 예수의 말씀을 기억하고 무덤에서 돌아가 이 모든 것을 열한 사도와 다른 모든 이에게 알리니 (이 여자들은 막달라 마리아와 요안나와 야고보의 모친 마리아라 또 그들과 함께 한 다른 여자들도 이것을 사도들에게 알리니라) 사도들은 그들이 말이 허탄한 듯이 들려 믿지 아니하나 베드로는 일어나 무덤에 달려가서 구부려 들여다 보니 세마포만 보이는지라 그 된 일을 놀랍게 여기며 집으로 돌아가니라.

우리는 살아나신 예수를 믿어야 합니다. 우리의 죄 때문에 그분이 십자가에서 죽으시고 우리에게 새 생명과 새 신분을 주시려고 살아나셨음을 믿어야 합니다. (종에서 아들로 갈라디아서 4 : 6 ~ 7)

요한복음 20 : 29

예수께서 이르시되 너는 나를 본 고로 믿느냐 보지 못하고 믿는 자들은 복되도다 하시니라.

예수를 하나님의 아들로 믿고 그분의 십자가 희생, 부활과 재림을 믿읍시다.

마태복음 24 : 36

그러나 그 날과 그 때는 아무도 모르나니 하늘의 천사들도, 아들도 모르고 오직 아버지만 아시느니라.

3. 배반자, 가룟 유다.

세 번째, 예수를 배반한 제자(크리스천)를 나누고자 합니다. 가룟 유다는 돈을 사랑하는 사람이었습니다. 예수님은 몸소 그를 가르치셨고 훈련시키셨으나 유다는 눈 깜짝할 사이에

유혹에 빠져서 예수를 배반했습니다.

요한복음 13 : 21

예수께서 이 말씀을 하시고 심령이 괴로워 증언하여 이르시되 내가

진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 너희 중 하나가 나를 팔리라 하시니.

요한복음 18 : 2

그 곳은 가끔 예수께서 제자들과 모이시는 곳이므로 예수를 파는 유다도 그 곳을 알더라.

가룟 유다는 예수를 배반했습니다. 후에 그는 미안함을 느꼈습니다. 그는 후회했으나 회개하지 않았습니다. 베드로는 부인했지만 후회가 아니라 회개했습니다. 그래서 용서받았습니다. 만일 우리가 잘못을 했다면 후회만 하지 마십시오. 우리는 베드로가 했던 것처럼 회개하고 돌아서야 합니다. 항상 기억하십시오. 후회하지 말고 회개하십시오. 우리는 돈, 우상, 사치품, 배우자, 자녀, 친구 등등을 사랑하는지 우리자신을 점검해 봅시다. ‘하나님 먼저, 당신 그리고 나’입니다.

결론 :-

형제자매 여러분, 오늘 우리자신을 점검합시다. 초대교회 크리스천들은 형제처럼 살았습니다.

사도행전 4 : 32, 34 ~ 35

믿는 무리가 한마음과 한 뜻이 되어 모든 물건을 서로 통용하고 자기 재물을 조금이라고 자기 것이라 하는 이가 하나도 없더라 -- 그 중에 가난한 사람이 없으니 이는 밭과 집 있는 자는 팔아 그 판 것의 값을 가져다가 사도들의 발 앞에 두매 그들이 각 사람의 필요를 따라 나누어 줌이라

❶ 우리는 어떤 크리스천(제자)입니까?

❷ 우리는 이름으로만 크리스천입니까 아니면 믿음으로 크리스천입니까?

❸ 그들 사이에 화합과 용서가 있었습니다.

❹ 영적 지도자(목사)를 존중하고 사랑하십시오.
