This year marks the 76th anniversary of Chilseok (the seventh day of the seventh lunar month) for the Master of Mogudang. Next year—the year of Jeongmi—will be the 77th anniversary, a milestone I regard as the most important year of my life.
The number seven represents the energy of Fire; it embodies the "Way of Yang" (Yang-do) of the cosmos and the Sun itself, signifying the fortune of the Yang path. Within the sixty-year sexagenary cycle, it corresponds to the specific fortune of the current year.
The year *Byeong-o* pairs *Byeong* (Yang Fire) with *O* (the Horse/Fire element), which is the seventh of the twelve earthly branches; thus, it symbolizes the "Fire of Seven-Seven" (double-seven fire).
In the solar calendar, this date falls on August 19th—a late date due to the inclusion of a leap month last year. As it falls on the fourth Wednesday of the month, the number four—associated with the *Sa* (Snake) month in the lunar calendar—signifies Yang Fire.
In the weekly sequence of Sun, Moon, Fire, and Water, it is the fourth day, Wednesday. This symbolizes the "Journey of Water" (*Su-won-yeo*).
Although the "Water" in Wednesday is fundamentally *Yin* in nature, it possesses a dynamic quality; the character is formed by combining the radical for "water" with the character for "going" or "departing." While water naturally flows downward, through its pairing with fire, it rises as steam, rides the wind to become clouds, and circulates throughout the world. In the context of *Feng Shui* (geomancy), water represents *Yang* and is considered the source of all things; thus, as a "wanderer of the water's source," I am a traveler destined by Heaven to journey—like water flowing from its origin—across the land.
According to *Dang-saju* (a form of traditional Korean fortune-telling), my birth month corresponds to the *Mi* (Goat) sign, signifying the *Yeokma-sal*—a destiny marked by constant travel and movement. It is a life pattern akin to a shepherd herding sheep across vast grasslands.
True to this wandering destiny, I have traveled extensively across the country. My journeys included visits to islands such as Marado (Jeju), Ulleungdo, and Dokdo, as well as major mountains like Seoraksan, Jirisan, Mudeungsan (Gwangju), Taebaeksan (Gangwon-do), and Goyangsan (Pyeongchang). I completed a railway circuit of South Korea—traveling from Gyeryong through Mokpo, Busan, Gangneung, and Seoul—and later undertook a road trip that took me from Gyeryong through Chuncheon, Yanggu, Hwacheon, Gimhwa, and Pocheon (Sanjeong Lake) before returning via Seoul. In addition, I explored various remote areas, including Jeongseon, Pyeongchang, and Sapsido Island. In late September—about a month later—he set out for Hawaii as the "Suwon Traveler" to perform a memorial service for the spirits of those who perished in the Pearl Harbor attack; in October, he traveled to the Wuyi Nine-Bend Stream (Wuyi Jiuqu) in China to align with the cosmic fortune of the *Hucheon* (Later Heaven) era of creation and harmony.
The entire world operates according to the destiny of the "Sunchang Wuyi Nine-Bend Stream," a process rooted in the character *jeong* (井, meaning "well") from the name Jeongeup.
The "Suwon Traveler" busily journeys across the world because the meeting of the Cowherd (*Gyeon-u*) and the Weaver Girl (*Jik-nyeo*) on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month is essential for the harmonious union of Yin and Yang. He has already traveled to all corners of the globe—east, west, south, and north.
His travels took him east to Japan and west to the United States, followed by tours of Western, Northern, Eastern, and Southern Europe. To the south, he visited places ranging from nearby regions like the Philippines to distant ones like Australia and New Zealand. He also traveled to Canada and Mexico in the west (*Taebang*), as well as Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, and Argentina in South America. His journeys extended to the Cape of Good Hope at the southern tip of Africa and northward to Mongolia, Russia, and Lake Baikal. He visited the Chinese mainland—the ancestral homeland of our people, the Dong-i—nine times.
These journeys were undertaken because the spiritual energy of the Three Ancestral Sages (*Samseongjo*) and the spirits of sages from the past needed to cross over to the land of Joseon—the Republic of Korea—in accordance with the cosmic destiny of the Nine Heavens and Nine Palaces (*Gucheon Gugung Dosu*). We are now at the juncture of the *Mugeuk* (Limitless) destiny, and I am setting out for the *Mui-gugok* (Nine Bends of Mount Wuyi) for the tenth time.
Only through the *Shipil-taegeuk* (Eleven-fold Great Ultimate) can the Way be realized and manifested in reality; thus, plans are underway to travel between Mount Cheonsan and Mount Kunlun during the third lunar month of the *Jeongmi* year.
If the Master of Yeongsin-dang represents Gyeon-u (the Cowherd)—a beggar-farmer—then Jik-nyeo (the Weaver Maid)—associated with the *Yeoseong* (Weaving Maiden) star of the Northern Twenty-Eight Mansions—represents the *Imja* (Water-Rat) energy of Heaven and Earth and the Supreme Deity of the New Heaven; this signifies the unification of the Parents of Heaven and Earth into a single divine entity. To use another analogy: if Jik-nyeo corresponds to Jeungsan Sangje (the Supreme Deity), then Gyeon-u corresponds to the Master of Yeongsin-dang, the Parent of Earth.
Thus, Jeungsan Sangje (the Heavenly Father) was reborn through the Master of Yeongsin-dang (the Earthly Mother and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva), achieving the union of the virtues of Heaven and Earth. While Jeungsan (the Heavenly Father) referred to the future as the *Hucheon* (Later Heaven), the Master of Yeongsin-dang (the Earthly Mother)—having united with the Heavenly Deity—spoke of the *Seoncheon* (Earlier Heaven) as the state of the Parents of Heaven and Earth; this implies that the union of *Hucheon* and *Seoncheon* results in a return to *Seoncheon*. However, since that *Seoncheon* state has not yet returned, the future *Yonghwa* Paradise is still referred to as *Hucheon*. Only when that time arrives—like the coming of spring—will it truly be called *Seoncheon*. After the *Gaengjeong Yudo* (Restoration of Confucian Way) held the ritual for the Mountain Spirit of Mt. Gyeryong on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month (Chilseok), Master Wongwang paid a visit. Although Master Wongwang and the Master of Mokudang (Samsan Mokudang-ju) share the same path, their relationship—with Master Wongwang in the lead and the Master of Mokudang following—is one of inner and outer Yin-Yang complementarity; it represents the dimensions of *Seondo* (the Way of Immortals) and *Yudo* (the Way of Confucianism), respectively.
This reunion comes after a long interval, following a dispute sparked by a discussion regarding the concepts of the "Former Heaven" and "Latter Heaven." Such conflicts arise because we are currently living in the final stretch of the unfinished era. Once the Great Opening (*Gaebyeok*) occurs and a new heaven and new earth unfold, the state of *Gihwanjeong* and *Gihwansin* (the harmonization and renewal of vital energy) will be realized, uniting the former and the latter, the left and the right, into one.
I join my palms in prayer, wishing that all followers may advance toward a destiny of great fortune and abundant blessings, embracing the blissful providence of the "Union of Virtues between Heaven and Earth" (*Cheonji-hapdeok*) on this day of Chilseok.
The phenomenon observed on the day of *Eulchuk*—during the *Sinsa* hour—where a single streak of light resembling a white cloud stretched in a straight line from Mt. Gyeryong in the north toward Mt. Daedun in the south, serves as a symbol that the North and the South are becoming connected as one. The *Eul-chuk* (乙丑) year signifies a young calf and marks the birth year of the daughter mentioned in the *Bu-nyeo-mun-dap* (Dialogue between Father and Daughter); conceived in the Jeongeup region during the *Gap-ja* (甲子) year and born in Yanggu, Gangwon-do, this event led Samsan Mok-u-dang-ju to hear the sound of a cow as the cry of a calf. In the following year—the *Byeong-in* (丙寅) year, during the *Sin-myo* (辛卯) month—a karmic connection to Hwalinbong Peak led to an entry into the mountains, marking the destiny of entering the path of the Dao.
Among the seven northern constellations (*Bukbang Chilsuk*)—comprising *Du*, *U*, *Yeo*, *Heo*, *Wi*, *Sil*, and *Byeok*—the second star is *Gyeon-u* (the Cowherd) and the third is the *Yeo* constellation (the Weaving Maiden). As the latter corresponds to the *Ja* (North) direction of *Im-ja* (壬子, the Master), this signifies the transition of the cosmic axis from the *Ja-O* (North-South) alignment of the *Seoncheon* (Pre-heaven) era to the *Chuk-Mi* (Northeast-Southwest) alignment of the *Hucheon* (Post-heaven) era.
In terms of the *I Ching* (Book of Changes) hexagrams, this corresponds to *Hwa-cheon-dae-yu* (Fire over Heaven: Great Possession), pointing toward a transition into the thirteenth hexagram and the destiny of *Dae-dong* (Great Harmony).
Upon the arrival of the seventh day of the seventh lunar month—the *Chilseok* (Qixi) festival marking the forty-ninth anniversary—the timing will align with the mandate of the *Sa-O-Mi* (Snake-Horse-Goat) era of enlightenment. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to the reader and fellow believer Park Hyo-su for offering a donation of 500,000 won for the Chilseok ritual. I also extend my thanks to the fellow practitioners who contributed their own sincere offerings.
