🌌 From Pisces to Aquarius ― The Flow of Time and the Philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu
---
Introduction
Previously, I wrote under the title “The Myth of the Age of Aquarius and the Philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu.”
This time, in order to aid deeper understanding, I have reworked the theme under a new title:
“From Pisces to Aquarius ― The Flow of Time and the Philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu.”
Some may ask why I relate the training of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu to the constellations,
or even why, within martial arts practice, I also speak of religion and healing.
The answer is simple.
As I have often emphasized, the world ultimately operates according to a single principle.
Because Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu training is rooted in this natural principle,
any field that is applied to it will be understood in the same context.
Thus, skill, philosophy, and healing are not separate domains,
but inevitably follow together under one universal law.
This writing largely overlaps with my previous reflections,
but I offer it once more to deepen understanding.
---
Additional Note
I always emphasize that this “one principle” does not mean something vast, mysterious, or abstract.
It must be verified only through the reality of lived experience in body and life.
Its point of departure is the flow of energy (Energy Flow).
This is why practices such as Kimu training and 「Vipassana-Acupuncture」 are so essential in Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu.
Once understood, they appear so clear and simple that they can be easily overlooked or dismissed.
Yet within that very simplicity lies the essence.
Only after embodying it can true and correct training truly begin.

1. The Great Cycle of the Stars
Human myths and spiritual imagination have always been intertwined with the movements of the heavens.
The Earth, with its tilted axis, wobbles through a precessional motion,
causing the vernal equinox point to slowly shift along the ecliptic.
This speed amounts to about 1 degree every 72 years,
so moving through one constellation (30 degrees) takes about 2,160 years.
A full circle through all twelve constellations takes roughly 25,920 years,
a span often called the Great Year.
---
2. The Age of Pisces ― Myths of Birth and Divine Intervention
For the past two thousand years, humanity has lived within the Age of Pisces.
The constellation opposite Pisces is Virgo,
which gave rise to symbols such as 「the virgin birth」, 「miraculous conception」, and 「the sacred birth of the savior.」
This imagination centered on the idea that the miraculous birth of one special being could bring salvation to the many.
The nativity of Christ, heroes conceived by light, or gods born from eggs all reflect this archetypal pattern.
Thus, the theme of the Age of Pisces was 「salvation through the miraculous birth of one person.」
---
3. The Transition into Aquarius ― Collective Awakening
After about 2,160 years, the vernal equinox point now shifts from Pisces into Aquarius.
The constellation opposite Aquarius is Leo, symbolizing the sun, strength, and self-expression.
Aquarius is portrayed as the one pouring from a vessel,
yet the stream is not mere water but wisdom, energy, and the current of collective awakening.
This change signals a transformation in the very structure of human consciousness.
From birth to awakening
From the salvation of one to the awakening of many
From divine intervention to human realization
The myth of the new era will no longer be 「the story of one savior」 but rather,
「the story of many awakening together and sharing the light.」
---
4. The Philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu ― A Path for a New Era
The philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu Haedong Kumdo is not merely a martial system,
but a path of training that unites body and mind.
At its heart are three pillars: skill (the movement of the body), philosophy (the insight of life), and healing (the restoration of energy).
These are not scattered domains, but one integrated flow:
through the body, one awakens to the love of nature;
through that flow, one heals oneself and others;
and ultimately, all are reconnected as one.
As described in Searching for the Forgotten Half in Martial Arts,
this is an attempt to recover what has been lost:
the union of body and spirit, of martial arts and philosophy, of life and practice.
👉 This diagram below illustrates it clearly:
○Skill and Medicine emerge from the same root.
○They extend into Martial Arts, the Principles of Human Life, and the Principles of Nature.
○All is bound together by the same flow of energy.
Thus, the philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu is, as shown in the diagram,
a unified system of martial arts, healing, and philosophy.
5. Conclusion
If the myth of the Age of Pisces was symbolized by 「the virgin birth and divine conception,」
then the myth of the Age of Aquarius will be symbolized by 「collective awakening and the sharing of energy.」
And this is not a distant myth, but a reality revealed through our bodies here and now.
👉 The next diagram beliw shows this process:
○Body, Mind, and Spirit are interconnected.
○Action with intention and action without intention harmonize.
○Daily training and daily life become one continuous practice.
Thus, transmission (傳授) is not merely the passing on of techniques.
It is, as the diagram shows, the reconnection of body, mind, and spirit within the flow of nature,
a path by which the collective awakening and harmony of a new era are shared with humanity.
Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu training, therefore, is a guide for this time of transition:
to awaken to the love of nature through the body,
to heal through its flow,
and to live out the meaning of transmission and mission together with humanity.
