South Korean fashion designer re Kim dies at age 74

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — re Kim, one of South Korea's best-known fashion designers, has died. He was 74.

대한민국, 서울(연합뉴스) - 한국의 가장 유명한 패션 디자이너 앙드레 김이 74세의 일기로 사망했습니다.

Kim died Thursday, several weeks after being admitted to Seoul National University Hospital with pneumonia, hospital official Oh Dong-seo said.

병원측에 따르면 폐렴으로 서울대 병원에 입원 한 지 수 주 후에 유명을 달리했습니다.

Kim was his country's most iconic designer, as famous for his glitzy fashion shows featuring top celebrities as for his distinctive personal style of wearing all-white garb heavy black eyeliner.

앙드레 김은 한국의 가장 상징적인 디자이너로 그의 화려한 패션쇼에 유명 인사를 세우는 것에 더불어 아래위로 흰 의상에 진한 검정색의 아이라이너를 하는 독특한 개인적인 스타일로도 유명했습니다.

Born Kim Bong-nam to a farming family, he launched his fashion career in 1962 when South Korea was emerging from the ruins of the Korean War of the 1950s. He later opened "Salon re" in central Seoul.

농부의 아들, 김봉남으로 태어난 그는 한국이 1950년 한국전쟁의 폐허로부터 벗어나던 1962년에 패션업계에 들어선 후 서울 중심에 “살롱 앙드레”를 열게 됩니다.

As re Kim, he offered glitz glamour, his elaborate, sometimes futuristic gowns were exhibited in shows from Paris to Sydney. His last show was held earlier this year in Beijing.

앙드레 김이란 이름으로 파리에서 시드니까지 패션쇼를 통해 화려하고 정교하며 때로 초현대적인 의상들을 선보여 왔으며 마지막 쇼는 올해 초 베이징에서 열렸습니다.

Kim is survived by a son. 유족으로는 아들이 있습니다.
