1. MAYA rendering speed

- Diagnose the scene to find ways to render the scene faster using Render Diagnostics. This handy tool lets you monitor how well you optimize the scene and lets you search for limitations and potential problems that may occur.

- To make plenty of room for temporary rendered files, set the TMPDIR variable as the location for temporary render cache files: -TMPDIR for UNIX and - TEMP for Windows.

2. Pre-render optimization

Use Dmap Auto Focus

Dmap Filter Size

Fog Shadow Samples

Use Dmap attributes: Use X+ Dmap, Use X- Dmap, Use Y+ Dmap, Use Y- Dmap, Use Z+ Dmap, Use Z- Dmap등중에서 적당한 방향은 꺼준다. scene에서 NURBS surface가 있을 경우에 Render Global 창에서 Memory and Performance Options부분에서 Reuse Tessellation을 켠다.

- raytraced shadow를 빠르게 rendering하자.

Light Radius(혹은 directional light의 Light Angle)이 0보다 크면 Shadow Ray의 값을 적당히 낮춘다. Ray Depth Limit를 낮춘다.

- In the Render Globals window on UNIX, Use File Cache avoids re-tessellation of the same surface during rendering. Turn on Use File Cache to store geometric data in a separate file in a location that you specify (the default location is /usr/tmp, but you can set a new location by typing setenv TMPDIR xxx, where xxx is the name of the directory where this file will be output).
