When spring has come every year
By D.J. YOON
I
When spring has come every year
Leaves are just nowhere
To be sprouting from trees
It’s because
Last year's leaves to be used
As a foundation for trees.
When spring has come every year
Flowers are just nowhere
To be blooming from flowers
It’s because
Last year’s flowers to be ripened
As a seed for new flowers.
II
Cold, cold winter
Having endured it well
As it is so amazing
Dandelions sprouting on the rice & field banks
Let them bloom as much as they want
HE that person
Tough, tough winter
Having borne it up greatly
As it is so pretty
Birds sitting on the branch with its sap rising
Let them sing as much as they want
HE that person.

Appreciation Review 感想
The point of the first poem is last year's leaves & last year's flowers.
Last year’s leaves serve as a fertilizer just as last year's flowers become a seed. So when spring has come every year, new leaves and flowers have the power to sprout or bloom.
Also, I see that graduation is in line with the word ‘commencement’, meaning a new beginning.
The core of the second poem is ‘cold, cold winter, and tough, tough winter’.
Dandelions blooming freely on the banks of rice fields or singing birds sitting on tree branches would make a reward for having overcome this cold, cold winter and/or this tough, tough winter.
Then, who does this reward come from?
Although it is referred to as ‘HE that person’ in the poem, I would say that it is Mother Nature, based upon what is described in the first poem.
Indeed, it is the providence of Mother Nature that the poet is singing about.
So, if I tried completing the unfinished title of the poem, it would be ...
“When spring has come every year, I realize the providence of Mother Nature.”
That is all about the poem.
