『Roll Over Beethoven』(베토벤을 넘어서요)은 원래

미국의 'Chuck Berry'(1926~2017)가 쓴 1956년 히트

싱글로 빌 보드 R&B 차트 2위, Pop 차트 29위에 오른 곡입니다.

노래의 가사에는 '로큰롤'과 '클래식' 음악을 대체할 R&B 에

대한 열망(熱望)이 언급되어 있으며, 노래 제목은 위대한

클래식 작곡가 Ludwig van Beethoven (1770~1827)에게

방해가 되지 않고 로큰롤 음악을 위한 공간을 만들도록 지시한

것인데, 이 노래는「The Beatles」와 「E.L.O」를 비롯한

많은 다른 아티스트들이 커버 했고, Rolling Stone잡지는

"역사상 가장 위대한 500곡" 목록에서 97위에 올렸습니다.

『Roll Over Beethoven』은 "로큰롤 밴드의 필수품"인

대중 음악에서 가장 널리 커버 된 노래 중 하나 이며

1964년 4월「The Beatles」의 두 번째 앨범의 오프닝

트랙으로, 발매되었습니다.

특히 이 곡은 「The Beatles」 의 의 첫 두 편의 영화인

『A Hard Day's Night』(1964)와 'Richard Lester' 가

감독한 『Superman III』(1983) 영화에 사용되었습니다.
