Caleb followed the Lord whole heatedly.

Friends, we all know about Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and Joshua. Those people chosen by God & they walked with God but majority of people do not know about the Caleb. In the Era of Moses. There was a man named Caleb. He was very faithful and walked with God and lived whole heartedly. God blessed him physically, mentally and spiritually. Brothers and sisters, it’s my hearty desire that everyone of us be the Caleb of this Era and live a life like Caleb on this earth & be blessed by God. Moses chose 1 person from the 12 tribes and sent them to the promised to spy. Caleb and Joshua & 10 others persons were chosen. 10 spies gave bad report only Joshua & Caleb gave good news.

All Israelites became angry with Moses. Why God brought them here to die & killed by Anakites.

Today, let’s examine the life of Caleb briefly & see what God want teach to us through Caleb.

1. Caleb trust the Lord whole heartedly.

Brothers and sisters, as I told you a while ago Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite. Moses chose 12 spies including Caleb & Joshua & sent them to spy the promised land. Caleb was chosen because he walked with God whole heartedly. Caleb was famous because of his generosity & faith in the Lord.

Joshua 14 : 14 (Joshua stated about Caleb)

So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever

since, because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.

Dear friends, not only tribe of Caleb or Joshua appreciated Caleb. Moses also appreciated Caleb.

Joshua 14 : 9 (Moses stated about Caleb)

So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your

inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have

followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.

Caleb trust in the Lord fully and he believe that with God everything is possible.

Joshua 13 : 30 (Caleb’s faith)

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should

go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”

Caleb trust Lord whole heartedly. We have to trust Lord with all of our heart, strength, soul & mind.

Matthew 22 : 37 ~ 38

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your

soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.

2. Caleb wait Lord’s timing patiently.

After the death of Moses, Joshua led the Israelites and when Israelites overcame all the promised land. God told Joshua to divided the land into all 12 tribes. It took 45 years. During these 45 years Caleb never inquire or ask the Joshua give him hill promised by Moses. Caleb wait exact time to ask.

Joshua 14 : 10

Now then, just as the Lord promised, He has kept me alive for 45 years since the time He said

this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, 85 years old!

God promised to Caleb through Moses to give him a hill. At that time Caleb was 40 years old.

Caleb wait long 45 years to have that land. He wait & pray patiently exact time of the Lord.

Joshua 14 : 12

Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that

the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the

Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as He said.”

Caleb wait & pray patiently for exact time of God. God gave him long, healthy life. Caleb was 85 years old. His eye sight was O.K. His health was O.K. His fighting skill was O.K. Everything was fine with him.

Wait and pray for God’s timing and God’s plan. Don’t be rush & loose God’s blessings.

Isaiah 30 : 18

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you

compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him!

3. Caleb hold the promise of the Lord.

Friends, when God promised to Caleb though Moses. Caleb trust God and wait for the God’s promise. Caleb never said to Moses give me that hill right now. Caleb hold the promise & trust God’s timing.

Joshua 14 : 9

So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.’

Friends, not Moses or Joshua of his tribe appreciated Caleb. God by himself appreciated Caleb.

Numbers 14 : 24 (God’s statement about Caleb)

But because My servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows Me wholeheartedly,

I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.

Let’s, forget all the failures of past & focus God & his promises to have victorious life.

Philippians 3 : 13

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,

4. Caleb was an optimist.

Friends all the 10 spies gave very bad report about the promised land except Joshua and Caleb.

Numbers 13 : 32

And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said,

“The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.

Friends, here we can see the great faith of Caleb. He silenced people & strengthened their faith.

Numbers 13 : 30

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should

go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”

Caleb never joined other 10 spies. Caleb was an optimist. He trust in the Lord’s hand, who deliver them.

Lesson for us :-

Friends, today man of God Caleb has a wonderful lesson for us. We have to be the Caleb of this Era. We’ve to trust God whole heartedly. (Hebrew 3 & 12 Fix our eyes on Him & focus thoughts on Him.)

Matthew 7 : 7

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Wait & pray miracle will be happen. -- God always keep His promise and we’ve to be Optimistic.

1st. Corinthians 1 : 20

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ.

And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Friends, don’t use negative language. Everything is possible with God. God isn’t God of Moses, Joshua or Caleb. He is our God too. He will guide us too, He will bless us too. We can defeat Anakite too.

갈렙은 주님을 전심으로 따랐습니다

우리는 모두 아브라함, 이삭, 야곱, 모세와 여호수아에 대해 압니다. 이 사람들은 하나님께 선택받아 하나님과 동행하였는데 대부분의 사람들이 갈렙에 대해서는 잘 모릅니다. 모세 시대에 갈렙이라는 사람이 있었습니다. 그는 매우 신실하고 전심으로 하나님과 동행하며 살았습니다. 하나님께서 신체적으로 정신적으로 영적으로 그를 축복하셨습니다. 형제자매 여러분, 우리 모두 이 시대의 갈렙이 되어 이 땅에서 갈렙 같은 삶을 살고 하나님께 축복 받는 것이 저의 간절한 소망입니다. 모세는 열 두 지파로부터 한 사람씩 택하여 정탐하도록 약속의 땅으로 그들을 보냈습니다. 갈렙과 여호수아와 다른 열 명이 선택되었습니다. 열 명의 정탐꾼은 좋지 않은 보고를 했고 여호수아와 갈렙만이 좋은 소식을 전했습니다. 모든 이스라엘 백성은 모세에게 분노했습니다. 아낙자손에 의해 죽게 하려고 여기로 데려왔느냐는 것입니다. 오늘 갈렙의 삶을 간략하게 점검하고 하나님께서 갈렙을 통해 우리에게 가르치고자 하시는 것을 알아봅시다.

1. 갈렙은 주님을 전심으로 신뢰했습니다.

형제자매 여러분, 그니스 사람 여분네의 아들 갈렙을 좀 전에 말씀드렸습니다. 모세는 갈렙과 여호수아를 포함하여 열 두 명의 정탐꾼을 택하여 약속의 땅을 정탐하도록 보냈습니다. 갈렙은 전심으로 하나님과 동행했기 때문에 선택되었습니다. 갈렙은 관대함과 주님에 대한 믿음으로 유명합니다.

여호수아 14 : 14 (여호수아가 갈렙에 대해 말했습니다)

헤브론이 그니스 사람 여분네의 아들 갈렙의 기업이 되어 오늘까지

이르렀으니 이는 그가 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와를 온전히 좇았음이라.

갈렙의 지파뿐 아니라 여호수아도 갈렙을 칭찬했습니다. 모세 또한 갈렙을 칭찬했습니다.

여호수아 14 : 9 (모세는 갈렙에 대해 말했습니다)

그 날에 모세가 맹세하여 이르되 네가 내 하나님 여호와께 충성하였은즉

네 발로 밟는 땅은 영원히 너와 네 자손의 기업이 되리라 하였나이다

갈렙은 하나님을 온전히 신뢰했고 하나님과 함께 모든 것이 가능하다는 것을 믿었습니다.

민수기 13 : 30 (갈렙의 믿음)

갈렙이 모세 앞에서 백성을 조용하게 하고 이르되 우리가 곧 올라가서 그 땅을 취하자 능히 이기리라 하나.

갈렙은 전심으로 하나님을 신뢰했습니다. 우리는 마음과 힘과 목숨과 뜻을 다하여 주님을 신뢰해야 합니다.

마태복음 22 : 37 ~ 38 ----- 예수께서 이르시되 네 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하고 뜻을 다하여

주 너의 하나님을 사랑하라 하셨으니 이것이 크고 첫째 되는 계명이요.

2. 갈렙은 주님의 때를 끈기있게 기다렸습니다.

모세가 죽은 후에 여호수아가 이스라엘 백성을 인도했고 이스라엘 백성이 약속의 땅을 모두 정복했을 때 하나님께서 그 땅을 열 두 지파대로 나누라고 말씀하셨습니다. 이것은 45년 걸렸습니다. 45년 동안 갈렙은 모세가 약속한 산지를 달라고 여호수아에게 요청하지 않았습니다.

갈렙은 요청할 정확한 때를 기다렸습니다.

여호수아 14 : 10

이제 보소서 여호와께서 이 말씀을 모세에게 이르신 때로부터 이스라엘이 광야에서 방황한 이

사십오 년 동안을 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 나를 생존하게 하셨나이다 오늘 내가 팔십오 세로되.

하나님은 모세를 통하여 갈렙에게 산지를 주겠다고 약속하셨습니다. 그 때에 갈렙이 40세였습니다. 갈렙은 그 땅을 얻기 위하여 45년 동안 기다렸습니다. 주님의 정확한 때를 끈기있게 기다리며 기도했습니다.

여호수아 14 : 12 ---- 그 날에 여호와께서 말씀하신 이 산지를 지금 내게 주소서 당신도 그 날에 들으셨거니와 그 곳에는 아낙 사람이 있고 그 성읍들은 크고 견고할지라도 여호와께서 나와 함께 하시면

내가 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 그들을 쫓아내리이다 하니.

갈렙은 하나님의 때를 끈기있게 기다리며 기도했습니다. 하나님께서 그에게 장수하고 건강한 삶을 주셨습니다. 갈렙은 85세였습니다. 그의 시력도 좋았고 건강도 좋았고 전쟁술도 능숙했습니다. 모든 것이 좋았습니다.

하나님의 때와 하나님의 계획을 기다리며 기도하십시오. 서두르지 말고 하나님의 축복을 잃지 마십시오.

이사야 30 : 18

그러나 여호와께서 기다리시나니 이는 너희에게 은혜를 베풀려 하심이요 일어나시리니 이는 너희를

긍휼히 여기려 하심이라 대저 여호와는 정의의 하나님이심이라 그를 기다리는 자마다 복이 있도다.

3. 갈렙은 주님의 약속을 붙잡았습니다.

하나님께서 모세를 통해 갈렙에게 약속하셨을 때 갈렙은 하나님을 믿고 하나님의 약속을 기다렸습니다. 갈렙은 모세에게 그 산지를 곧바로 달라고 말하지 않았습니다. 갈렙은 그 약속을 붙잡고 하나님의 때를 믿었습니다.

여호수아 14 : 9

그 날에 모세가 맹세하여 이르되 네가 내 하나님 여호와께 충성하였은즉

네 발로 밟는 땅은 영원히 너와 네 자손의 기업이 되리라 하였나이다.

모세, 여호수아, 그의 지파뿐 아니라 하나님도 갈렙을 칭찬하셨습니다.

민수기 14 : 24 (갈렙에 대한 하나님의 말씀)

그러나 내 종 갈렙은 그 마음이 그들과 달라서 나를 온전히 따랐은즉 그가

갔던 땅으로 내가 그를 인도하여 들이리니 그의 자손이 그 땅을 차지하리라.

형통한 삶을 얻으려면 과거의 모든 실패를 잊고 하나님과 그분의 약속에 집중하십시오.

빌립보서 3 : 13

형제들아 나는 아직 내가 잡은 줄로 여기지 아니하고 오직

한 일 즉 뒤에 있는 것은 잊어버리고 앞에 있는 것을 잡으려고.

4. 갈렙은 낙관주의자였습니다.

여호수아와 갈렙을 제외하고 열 정탐꾼 모두 약속의 땅에 대하여 매우 좋지 않은 보고를 했습니다.

민수기 13 : 32

이스라엘 자손 앞에서 그 정탐한 땅을 악평하여 이르되 우리가 두루 다니며 정탐한

땅은 그 거주민을 삼키는 땅이요 거기서 본 모든 백성은 신장이 장대한 자들이며.

여기에서 우리는 갈렙의 위대한 믿음을 볼 수 있습니다. 그는 백성을 조용하게 하고 그들의 믿음을 강하게 했습니다.

민수기 13 : 30

갈렙이 모세 앞에서 백성을 조용하게 하고 이르되 우리가 곧 올라가서 그 땅을 취하자 능히 이기리라 하나.

갈렙은 다른 열 정탐꾼과 함께 하지 않았습니다. 갈렙은 낙관주의자였습니다. 그는 그들을 이끄시는 주님의 손을 믿었습니다.

우리를 위한 교훈 :-

오늘 하나님의 사람 갈렙에게 우리를 위한 훌륭한 교훈이 있습니다.

우리는 이 시대의 갈렙이 되어야 합니다. 우리는 하나님을 전심으로 신뢰해야 합니다.

히브리서 3 : 1 예수를 깊이 생각하라 ------ 히브리서 12 : 2 예수를 바라보자

마태복음 7 : 7

구하라 그리하면 너희에게 주실 것이요 찾으라 그리하면

찾아낼 것이요 문을 두드리라 그리하면 너희에게 열릴 것이니.

기다리며 기도하면 기적이 일어날 것입니다. 하나님은 언제나 약속을 지키시므로 우리는 낙관주의자가 되어야 합니다.

고린도후서 1 : 20

하나님의 약속은 얼마든지 그리스도 안에서 예가 되니 그런즉 그로

말미암아 우리가 아멘 하여 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 되느니라.

부정적인 말을 쓰지 마십시오. 하나님과 함께 하면 모든 일이 가능합니다. 하나님은

모세, 여호수아나 갈렙만의 하나님이 아닙니다. 그분은 또한 우리의 하나님이십니다.

그분이 우리도 역시 인도하실 것이고 우리도 축복하실 것입니다. 우리도 아낙자손을 이길 수 있습니다.
