Iconic fashion model, Twiggy, joins Animal Defenders International (ADI) in urging UK fashion designers to stop using fur at London Fashion Week. Twiggy joins an ever-increasing list of celebrities who are working with ADI to denounce the use of fur including Stella McCartney, Mary McCartney, Brian Blessed, Meg Mathews, Ricky Gervais, Samantha Janus, and Belinda Carlisle.

패션계의 아이콘같은 모델, 트위기는 런던 패션 위크에서 영국의 패션 디자이너들이 모피 사용을 중지하도록 촉구하는  국제동물보호협회에 참여했다. 트위기는 스텔라 매카트니, 메리 매카트니, 브라이언 블레스트, 멕 매튜스, 리키 Gervais, 사만다 야누스, 그리고 벨린다 칼라일 등, 모피의 사용을 규탄하기 위해 국제동물보호협회와 함께 노력하는 점점 늘어나는 유명인사들의 목록에 합류했다.

Over 40% of fur used in the UK, where fur farming is illegal, is sourced from Finland— one of the largest fur producing countries in the world. Recently ADI launched an undercover report, Blood Harvest, which reveals the horrible conditions and cruelty that animals are subjected to while living on fur farms.

모피 농장은 불법이며 영국에서 사용되는 모피의 40% 이상은 세계 최대의 모피 생산국의 하나인 핀란드에서 공급됩니다. 최근 국제동물보호협회는 모피 동물 농장에 살고있는 동물들의 끔찍한 상황과 잔혹한 모습을 밝혀낸 피의 수확이라는 비밀 보고서를 발표했다

“I am very sad that some designers are still using real fur when the fake alternatives are so effective and so easily obtainable. I hope this ADI report helps the fashion industry realize that these poor animals are kept in such terrible and inhumane conditions. Is it really worth this cruelty just for fashion’s sake? I don’t think so,” said Twiggy.

“대안적인 인조 모피를 아주 쉽게 얻을 수 있고 유용한데 몇몇 디자이너들이 아직도 진짜 모피를 사용하는 것이 몹시 슬픕니다. 패션산업이 그 가련한 동물들이 그런 끔찍하고 비인간적인 환경에서 잡혀있다는 것을 깨닫는데 이 ADI 보고서가 도움이 되기를 바랍니다. 단지 패션을 위해 이렇게 잔인할 가치가 있습니까? 전 그렇게 생각하지 않습니다” 

ADI provides the following fur facts:
• Pelts of up to 15-20 foxes or 60-80 mink are required to make ONE fur coat.

• Wild foxes live up to 15 years and mink live up to 10 years,

• Lifespan of mink and fox bred for fur is ONLY 8 MONTHS

• Babies born without the prerequisite pelt quality ARE KILLED IMMEDIATELY

• An increase in fur for fashions sake means now over 400 designers use fur in their collections

• LFW designers using fur on the catwalk include: Mathew Williamson, Caroline Charles, Todd Lynn and Charlie Le Mindu

국제동물보호협회는 다음과 같은 모피 사실을 제공합니다 :

• 하나의 모피 코트를 만드는 데 여우는 15-20 마리 또는 밍크는 60-80 마리가 필요.

• 야생 여우는 15 년까지, 밍크는 10 년까지 산다

• 무대에서 모피를 사용하는 LFW 디자이너들에는  매튜 윌리엄슨, 캐롤라인 찰스, 토드 린과 찰리 르 Mindu 포함됩니다 

“It’s really disappointing to see fur making a comeback on the fashion catwalks,” states ADI Chief Executive, Jan Creamer. “Some in the fashion industry have chosen to close their eyes and hearts to the truth about fur production. This investigation is a wake-up call – it is no longer acceptable to ignore the suffering, and designers must take responsibility for the way that their fur is produced.”
