† Why, Jesus wept? †

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, our Lord Jesus is Son of God and by Himself He is God.

God by Himself prophecies that the offspring of woman will crush the Satan under His feet.

Genesis 3 : 15

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your

offspring and hers; He will crush your head, and you will strike His heel.”

Isaiah 9 : 6

For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders.

And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

1st. Timothy 6 : 15

which God will bring about in His own time God, the

blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings & Lord of lords,

Brothers and sisters, Jesus is the one Who crush the Satan under His feet. Jesus is the Son of God, God’s government is on His shoulder, Jesus is wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, the blessed and the only Ruler, the Kings of kings and Lord of lords. Then why, He wept 3 times. He’s All in all & weeping, so strange isn’t it? Not once but three times He wept.

John 11 : 35 Jesus wept. Luke 19 : 41 As He approached Jerusalem & saw the city, He wept over it.

Hebrews 5 : 7

During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, He offered up prayers & petitions with fervent cries & tears to the one who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverent submission.

Brothers & sisters, let’s see briefly, why Jesus wept & how we can wipe out His tears.

1. Jesus wept, because of weak faith.

There was a family of Martha, Mary & Lazarus. Bible is silent about the parents of these 3 siblings. Whenever Jesus visited the Bethany. Jesus visited this family. Jesus called Lazarus friend. (John 11:11)

Once Lazarus become sick & his sisters sent message to Jesus to visit his home & heal but Jesus purposely didn’t visit. In result Lazarus died & family put Lazarus in tomb. On 4th day Jesus visited & sisters of Lazarus complained that He came too late. If Jesus came early Lazarus never died.

John 11 : 21 ~ “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died.

Jesus told them that He is resurrection & the life. He can make impossible into possible.

John 11 : 25 ~ 27

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection & the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; & whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

Sisters, believe in Jesus as Savior & Messiah but they didn’t believe that He can raise dead Lazarus. Jesus wept because of their weak & doubted faith. Sisters, faith and deeds were different.

John 11 : 34 ~ 35

“Where have you laid him?” He asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. Jesus wept.

Jesus is asking about our faith. Is our faith & deeds are different or faith & deeds goes together.

James 2 : 26 ~~ As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

2. Jesus wept, over city of Jerusalem.

2ndlyJesus wept over the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem means “city of peace.” Jerusalem is often called Zion; Mount Zion is the hill on which the fortress of the city was built. City of peace, but peace left it. Jesus saw the future of Jerusalem: Jerusalem destroyed & Temple was demolished. The city hanged Jesus. Jesus wept cause He saw all things in advance & He wept over it.

Jesus knew the city would be destroyed by the Romans, and He wept over the impending judgment.

Rejection of God's Offer: -- Jesus wept because the people of Jerusalem had rejected Him and His teachings, missing the opportunity for salvation and peace. -- Hardened Hearts: Jesus grieved over the people's hardened hearts and their un-willingness to repent, knowing they would face the consequences of their actions. -- Love and Compassion: Jesus's tears demonstrated His deep love and compassion for the people of Jerusalem, even in their disobedience.

Luke 19 : 41 ~ 44

Jesus, seeing the city, wept over it, saying, "If you had known on this day the things that are for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will cast up a trench around you, and besiege you on every side, and level you and your children within you to the ground, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation."

3. Jesus wept, in the garden of Gethsemne.

3rdly. Jesus wept in the garden of Gethsemne. Jesus wept their & His sweat flowed like drops of blood.

Hebrews 5 : 7

During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, He offered up prayers & petitions with fervent cries & tears to the one who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverent submission.

Luke 22 : 44

And being in anguish, He prayed more earnestly, & His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Jesus wasn’t worrying or flowing His tears about the pains what He suppose to suffer on the cross & on the way to the cross but Jesus flow His tears for the people who don’t understand the reason why He crucified, why He risen. People saw everything but hardened their hearts & not repent.

Jesus wept for His own disciple sold Him, denied Him, doubted about His resurrection

Matthew 26 : 75

Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows,

you will disown Me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Matthew 26 : 14 ~ 15

Then one of the 12 the one called Judas Iscariot went to the chief priests & asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him over to you?” So they counted out for him 30 pieces of silver.

John 20 : 25

So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in His hands & put my finger where the nails were, & put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

Conclusion :-

Jesus the Savior of whole world & Son of living God, wept 3 times. Why, He wept. What made Him cry?

1st. Jesus wept at the tomb of His friend Lazarus. Jesus wept cause of Lazarus sister’s faith.

Today, it’s time to examine our faith and let not Jesus weep any more.

2ndly Jesus wept cause of city Jerusalem. Which mean city of peace but later that was demolished.

Jesus also saw the hard hearted people who disobeyed God and not repented.

Today, it’s time to examine ourselves, are we hard hearted & disobeying people? Let’s repent.

3rdly Jesus wept cause of His own disciples and those who shout Hosanna. When Jesus entered in Jerusalem they shout Hosanna but later same people, they changed and shouted Crucify Him.

Today, it’s time to examine ourselves and repent our all sins. Wash with the Jesus’s blood.

Romans 5 : 8

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

왜, 예수님은 우셨을까요?

주 안에 있는 형제자매 여러분, 우리 주 예수님은 하나님의 아들이고 그분 자신이 하나님이십니다.

여자의 후손이 그분의 발로 사탄을 짓밟을 것이라고 하나님께서 예언하셨습니다.

창세기 3 : 15

내가 너로 여자와 원수가 되게 하고 네 후손도 여자의 후손과 원수가 되게 하리니 여자의

후손은 네 머리를 상하게 할 것이요 너는 그의 발꿈치를 상하게 할 것이니라 하시고.

이사야 9 : 6

이는 한 아기가 우리에게 났고 한 아들을 우리에게 주신 바 되었는데 그의 어깨에는 정사를 메었고

그의 이름은 기묘자라, 모사라, 전능하신 하나님이라, 영존하시는 아버지라, 평강의 왕이라 할 것임이라.

디모데전서 6 : 15

기약이 이르면 하나님이 그의 나타나심을 보이시리니 하나님은

복되시고 유일하신 주권자이시며 만왕의 왕이시며 만주의 주시오.

형제자매 여러분, 예수님은 그분의 발로 사탄을 밟으신 바로 그분입니다. 예수님은 하나님의 아들이시고 그의 어깨에는 하나님의 정사가 있고 훌륭한 상담자, 전능하신 하나님, 영존하시는 아버지, 평강의 왕, 복되시고 유일하신 통치자, 만왕의 왕, 만주의 주이십니다. 그런데 왜 그분은 세 번 우셨을까요? 모든

것 되시는 분이 우셨는데 너무 이상하지 않습니까? 한번이 아니라 세 번 우셨습니다.

요한복음 11 : 35 ~ 예수께서 눈물을 흘리시더라 ~ 누가복음 19 : 41 - 가까이 오사 성을 보시고 우시며

히브리서 5 : 7 ~~ 그는 육체에 계실 때에 자기를 죽음에서 능히 구원하실 이에게 심한 통곡과

눈물로 간구와 소원을 올렸고 그의 경건하심으로 말미암아 들으심을 얻었느니라.

형제자매 여러분, 왜 예수님이 우셨으며 우리가 어떻게 그분의 눈물을 닦을 수 있는지 간략하게 알아봅시다.

1. 약한 믿음 때문에 예수님은 우셨습니다.

마르다, 마리아, 나사로의 가정이 있었습니다. 성경은 이 세 남매의 부모에 대해서는 언급하지 않습니다.

예수께서 베다니를 방문하실 때마다 이 가정을 찾아가셨습니다. 예수님은 나사로를 친구라고 부르셨습니다. (요한복음 11:11) 한번은 나사로가 병이 들어 그의 누이가 예수님이 집에 방문하셔서 치유해달라고 전갈을 보냈으나 예수님은 의도적으로 방문하지 않으셨습니다. 그 결과 나사로는 죽었고 가족은 나사로를 무덤에 넣었습니다. 4일째에 예수님이 찾아오셨고 나사로의 누이들은 만일 예수님이 일찍 오셨다면 나사로가 죽지 않았을텐데 너무 늦게 오셨다고 불평했습니다.

요한복음 11 : 21

마르다가 예수께 여짜오되 주께서 여기 계셨더라면 내 오라버니가 죽지 아니하였겠나이다.

예수님은 그분이 부활이고 생명이라고 그들에게 말씀하셨습니다. 그분은 불가능한 것을 가능하게 하실 수 있습니다.

요한복음 11 : 25 ~ 27

예수께서 이르시되 나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고 무릇 살아서 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 죽지 아니하리니 이것을 네가 믿느냐 이르되 주여 그러하외다 주는 그리스도시요 세상에 오시는 하나님의 아들이신 줄 내가 믿나이다.

누이들은 예수를 구세주와 메시야로 믿었지만 그분이 죽은 나사로를 일으킬 수 있다고 믿지 않았습니다.

그들의 연약하고 의심하는 믿음 때문에 예수님은 우셨습니다. 누이들은 믿음과 행위가 달랐습니다.

요한복음 11 : 34 ~ 35

이르시되 그를 어디 두었느냐 이르되 주여 와서 보옵소서 하니 예수께서 눈물을 흘리시더라.

예수님은 우리의 믿음을 요구하십니다. 우리의 믿음과 행위는 다릅니까 아니면 함께 갑니까?

야고보서 2 : 26 ~~~ 영혼 없는 몸이 죽은 것 같이 행함이 없는 믿음은 죽은 것이니라

2. 예루살렘 성을 보고 예수님은 우셨습니다.

두 번째, 예수님은 예루살렘 성을 보고 우셨습니다. 예루살렘은 평화의 성을 의미합니다. 예루살렘은

흔히 시온으로 불립니다. 시온산은 성의 요새로 지어진 언덕입니다. 평화의 성이지만 평화가 떠났습니다. 예수님은 예루살렘의 미래를 보셨습니다. 예루살렘은 파괴되었고 성전은 무너졌습니다. 그 성은 예수님을 매달았습니다. 예수님은 모든 것을 미리 보셨기 때문에 우시고 슬퍼하셨습니다. 그 성이 로마에 의해 파괴될 것을 아셨고 임박한 심판을 슬퍼하셨습니다. 하나님의 제안을 거부--예루살렘 백성이 그분과 그분의 가르침을 거부하여 구원과 평화의 기회를 잃어버렸기 때문에 예수님은 우셨습니다. 완고한 마음--회개에 대한 백성들의 완고한 마음과 반항, 그들의 행동의 결과에 직면하게 될 것을 아셨기에 예수님은 몹시 슬퍼하셨습니다. 사랑과 긍휼-- 예수님의 눈물은 불순종에도 불구하고 예루살렘 백성에 대한 그분의 깊은 사랑과 긍휼을 증명하셨습니다.

누가복음 19 : 41 ~ 44

가까이 오사 성을 보시고 우시며 이르시되 너도 오늘 평화에 관한 일을 알았더라면 좋을 뻔하였거니와 지금 네 눈에 숨겨졌도다 날이 이를지라 네 원수들이 토둔을 쌓고 너를 둘러 사면으로 가두고 또 너와 및 그 가운데 있는 네 자식들을 땅에 메어치며 돌 하나도 돌 위에 남기지 아니하리니 이는 네가 보살핌 받는 날을 알지 못함을 인함이니라 하시니라.

3. 겟세마네 동산에서 예수님은 우셨습니다.

세 번째, 예수님은 겟세마네 동산에서 우셨습니다. 예수님은 우셨고 그분의 땀은 핏방울처럼 흘렀습니다.

히브리서 5 : 7

그는 육체에 계실 때에 자기를 죽음에서 능히 구원하실 이에게 심한 통곡과

눈물로 간구와 소원을 올렸고 그의 경건하심으로 말미암아 들으심을 얻었느니라.

누가복음 22 : 44

예수께서 힘쓰고 애써 더욱 간절히 기도하시니 땀이 땅에 떨어지는 핏방울 같이 되더라.

예수님은 십자가에서, 십자가로 가는 도중에 겪게 될 고통에 대해서 걱정하거나 눈물을 흘리신 것이 아니라 왜 그분이 십자가에 못 박히시고 왜 살아나시는지 이해하지 못하는 사람들을 위해 눈물을 흘리신 것입니다. 사람들은 모든 것을 보았지만 마음이 완고해져서 회개하지 않았습니다.

예수님은 그분을 팔고, 부인하고, 그분의 부활을 의심한 제자들 때문에 우셨습니다.

마태복음 26 : 75 ~~ 이에 베드로가 예수의 말씀에 닭 울기 전에 네가 세 번 나를

부인하리라 하심이 생각나서 밖에 나가서 심히 통곡하니라.

마태복음 26 : 14 ~ 15

그 때에 열둘 중의 하나인 가룟 유다라 하는 자가 대제사장들에게 가서 말하되 내가

예수를 너희에게 넘겨주리니 얼마나 주려느냐 하니 그들이 은 삼십을 달아 주거늘.

요한복음 20 : 25

다른 제자들이 그에게 이르되 우리가 주를 보았노라 하니 도마가 이르되 내가 그의 손의 못 자국을 보며 내 손가락을 그 못자국에 넣으며 내 손을 그 옆구리에 넣어보지 않고는 믿지 아니하겠노라 하니라

결론 :-

온 세상의 구세주, 살아계신 하나님의 아들 예수님이 세 번 우셨습니다. 왜 우셨을까요? 무엇이 그분을 울부짖게 했을까요?

첫 번째, 예수님은 친구 나사로의 무덤에서 우셨습니다. 예수님은 나사로 누이의 믿음 때문에 우셨습니다.

오늘, 우리 믿음을 점검할 시간입니다. 더 이상 예수님을 울게 하지 맙시다.

두 번째, 예수님은 예루살렘 성 때문에 우셨습니다. 평화의 성이란 뜻이지만 후에 파괴되었습니다.

예수님은 또한 하나님께 불순종하고 회개하지 않는 사람들의 완고한 마음을 보셨습니다.

오늘, 우리가 완고하고 불순종하는 사람인지 점검하고 회개합시다.

세 번째, 예수님은 제자들과 호산나를 외치던 사람들 때문에 우셨습니다.

예수께서 예루살렘으로 들어가실 때 그들은 호산나를 외쳤지만 그 후에 같은 사람들이 변하여

그분을 십자가에 못 박으라고 외쳤습니다. 오늘, 우리를 점검하고 우리의 모든

죄를 회개할 시간입니다. 예수의 피로 씻으십시오.

로마서 5 : 8 

우리가 아직 죄인 되었을 때에 그리스도께서 우리를 위하여

죽으심으로 하나님께서 우리에 대한 자기의 사랑을 확증하셨느니라.
