<P><BR>Finally from us, one month from tomorrow, the long-awaited movie, the Da Vinci Code arrives in theaters. Tomorrow, the Catholic group at the heart of the story-Opus Dei- is releasing its own video, trying to show they're not the evil force the Da Vinci Code makes them out to be. ABC's Dan Harris got an early look. </P>
<P><BR> The video which features enthusiastic Opus Dei members, </P>
<P><BR> "My job is to bring holiness into ordinary circumstances like this one."</P>
<P><BR>provides a striking contrast to the Da Vinci Code's portrayal of Opus Dei as a murderous cult. <BR> Owen Damons appears in the video with his six children.</P>

<P> "I think it's an act of charity to say, no that's not who we are."</P>
<P><BR> Opus Dei was founded in 1928 by a Spanish priest, who wanted to provide Catholics with a rigorous program for living out their faith every day. </P>
<P><BR> Opus Dei has now 87,000 members across the world - three thousand in this country. The vast majority are married and live in their own homes. A small percentage, however, take a vow of celibacy and live in Opus Dei Centers such as this one in New York City. </P>
<P><BR> To counter criticism from former members, <BR> "It creates this atmosphere of, you know, you're never alone, you're always watched."</P>
<P><BR> And the Da Vinci Code's allegations of bloody masochistic rituals, Opus Dei also has a new website and a telegenic new spokesperson. </P>
<P><BR> "Well, the truth is no one is mutilating themselves because that's a complete distortion and it's sensationalized, you know, for movies."</P>
<P><BR> She says some members do inflict minor pain with whips or spiked chains as a reminder of Christ's pain, and that the group is not a cult. Opus Dei also has its own Siras as opposed to Siras, the murderous Albino monk of the Vinci Code. Cyrus Agbin is a stockbroker from Brooklyn. </P>
<P><BR> "As you can see, I'm not an Albaino, I'm not a monk, far from that."</P>
<P><BR> Opus Dei says fighting a false portrayal is also an opportunity to spread its message, and may therefore be part of god's plan. </P>
