[해 설]
(1) 미국 식당에서 음식을 시키면 엄청난 량(large portion)에 놀라게 된다.
말이 1인분이지 3~4인분에 가깝다. 그래서 식당마다 음식을 싸주는 문화가 잘 되여있다.
오늘은 to go box(음식을 싸갈 수 있는 작은 상자)에 남은 음식(leftovers) 을 싸갈 때
자주쓰는 표현이다.
(2) 우선 사람들이 "남은 음식을 싸달라고할 때"Can I have a doggybag,please?"을 쓰는데
막상 미국에서는 이 표현을 잘쓰지 않는다.
미국에서은:Can I get~~to go?"또는"Can I have ~~ to go?라는 표현을 많이 쓴다.
"~을 싸가도 되느냐"는 뜻인데 이때의 to go는" 포장해가다,싸가다"라는 뜻이다.
워이터들이 to go box(음식 포장 상자)를 가져다 주면 알아서 남은 음식을 넣으면 된다.
