Let’s get a breaktime for 10 minutes. Okay?"
"what's going on to you?"
“Good morning, Dr. Kim! I’m so glad tosee you. Are you okay?”
“Good morning, Pro. Will Kayler. I’malso good to see you again. Long time no see ya. Isn’t it?”
“What’s going on, Pro. (Professor)Will.?”

“Novotel Hotel. It’s the closest hotel to the Global Society for Specific Microbiology building. There are many Korean restaurants around.”
"South of Young Finch..."
“Yes, that’s right. I already made a reservation, so all you have to do is go.”
“Yes, I know. That hotel. It’s next to the North York Center.”
“Now you can ride with confidence, right? Parking fees are calculated per minute.”
“Yes. Okay. Let’s go.”
Jiyoung was in a good mood after hearing her good name and talking for the first time in a long time. I found the Blue Worm and was able to go directly from the airport to my accommodation without getting lost, so it was nice to be able to breathe the Toronto air even though it was night. Jiyoung Kim is a doctor of medicine, but she is only 28 years old.
“Where do you live, uncle?”
Jiyoung sat in her passenger seat and watched the dark road lights pass by. She asked. It is deep night now. The Accord's electronic clock reads 01:40.
“Have you heard of Thornhill? Bayview and John Street North?”
“Aha- that condo called the Blue House?”
“Ugh, I thought she was a doctor of medicine, but I guess she also studied toponymy. How do you know that?”
“I know because the 8th grade student I taught at at UT was in that condo. The atmosphere was very nice. The surrounding environment was also nice.”
“That’s right. I’ve been living in a studio condo there for 8 years. I’m too lazy to move around often.”
“Why do you live in a studio? A studio has one room and a living room, right?”
Jiyoung was puzzled and turned her head to look at James. James also turned his head to look at Jiyoung for a moment. And she quickly looked ahead and continued driving. Then, when James turned her head, she saw his tears shining in the glare of the headlights in his eyes. Jiyoung quickly turned her head and was looking at her black car window. She was silent for a moment. Uncle James is not a bad person. Jiyoung thought so.
“Later… we’ll have a chance to talk to Dr. Kim before he leaves. Are you… tired?”
Jiyoung knew that he could gently change the silent atmosphere. it was good.
“No, I’m not tired at all. I have my first meeting on Monday morning, so I have plenty of time. Uncle~ Is there still a coffee shop for Tim Hotton?”
When they entered the Tim Hotton coffee shop at the corner of John + Woodbine, there were customers at four tables. The time was 2 am. James bought a medium size triple and Jiyoung Kim bought a small size black and sat facing each other by the window where only darkness was visible. For the first time, Jiyoung was able to look at Uncle James carefully. James also looked intently at Jiyoung’s face.
“Uncle. This is before our duel, right?”
Jiyoung said with a smile. James answered, shaking her shoulders as he grabbed her coffee.
“What duel?”
“We were looking at each other’s faces intently, looking for each other’s weaknesses or flaws. What did you find in me? Uncle-”
“Kim Jiyoung~”
James became a kind uncle and sang in a voice full of love.
"yes."
Jiyoung answered quietly and shyly.
“I was looking for the poet Kim Seon-ae’s face in Dr. Ji-young Kim’s face. What about Dr. Kim?”
His voice was steeped in longing. It was difficult for Jiyoung to hear that voice. Jiyoung, who thought his voice was very attractive and masculine, ended up breaking the mood by saying something unexpected.
“I asked you how you knew about Blue Worm. You said you would tell me later. Please tell me now.”
“Hmm. Finally, Dr. Kim attacks first. Good.”
The affectionate atmosphere was broken.
“My mother told me that Dr. Jiyoung Kim was arriving in Toronto to attend an important meeting of the Global Society of Microbiology and asked me to return to Korea safely and in good health to meet her. So I made an appointment and I had a guess so I searched the society. Although it wasn't detailed, I also looked at the current situation in Korea regarding superbugs by Dr. Jiyoung Kim. I figured that he was coming to attend the academic conference because of such an event or event. But since he said blue worm, my guess was that he was breathing. “Do you have any more questions?”
James calmly expressed his thoughts and drank coffee. Jiyoung sighed. James didn't miss it.
“Tell me what’s bothering you. I might be able to help.”
The moment Jiyoung turns her eyes from looking at her darkness over James' shoulder and opens her mouth towards James.
“Oh. Wait. Let’s get a breaktime for 10 minutes. Okay?”
“What’s going on to you?”
Surprised, Jiyoung also asked in English. Suddenly, Koreans were talking to each other in English... they were talking to themselves...
“Cigarettes... I’ll just take a moment and get some fresh air on a clear night.”
James brought her face closer to Jiyoung and begged.
“I’m going with you too.”
“Yeah! Do you smoke?”
“Hahaha. No, I need some fresh air too.”
The early morning air in Makham City was mild and fresh. Tim Hatton was 10 minutes away by car from where James lived and 20 minutes away from the Novotel hotel. Today is Saturday morning. Everyone who has worked hard all week will be in a deep sleep.
“Uncle. Unlike Seoul, the air is so clean and refreshing.”
Jiyoung woke up James, who was deep in thought while smoking a cigarette.
“Are you tired? Are you sleepy?”
“No. I think it’s the jet lag. I’m still fresh. But, I feel like I’ll fall asleep when I lie down in bed. That’s why I don’t want to fall asleep.”
Jiyoung really didn't want to sleep right now. She thought that she wanted to enjoy the peace of the quiet dawn, the clear, fresh air flowing softly, and the reassuring feeling of James. It was my first time meeting her, but the more I talked to her, the more I became attached to her. But there were so many questions about James.
“Uncle. What is your job?”
This. This type of thing doesn't belong to doctors... Jiyoung asked behind him, who had just finished his cigarette and was throwing the butt in the trash can. He slowly turned towards Jiyoung and smiled. 'Ugh - do you call that a murderous smile?' His smile had a shape, it wasn't a smile. It was a strange expression. In a state of expressionlessness and blank thought, his lips only slightly moved and the corners of his eyes moved slightly. ‘That must be a killer smile,’ Jiyoung thought.
"Shoe shines are still considered low-class in Korea. I work as a shoe shiner downtown. Were you surprised? Didn't your mother tell you? You must be very disappointed."
“Not at all. I didn’t have any expectations, so how could there be disappointment? I’m fine. She said you are writing novels.”
“I’m okay with it, but who wouldn’t be okay with it? Everyone writes.”
“Do you live alone?”
When Jiyoung found out about his occupation, she was actually disappointed. I had guessed that he would at least run a decent business, but after finding out, my attitude toward him honestly changed in a more downward direction than at first. So I asked his friend Kim. He drank the coffee he brought with him, took out a cigarette and lit it again. Jiyoung could now smell the smell of cigarettes.
“I didn’t come here to Canada alone, but now I am alone.”
Jiyoung was tired now. It's not like you're trying to establish any kind of relationship with him at all. James. He dropped Jiyoung off at the Novotel Hotel, waited for her to check in, and then left. He wrote down his cell phone number on a note and gave her a yellow envelope, telling her to call him if she needed to. As soon as Jiyoung opened room 302 with her card key and entered, she felt sleepy. I just wanted to lie down in bed and sleep. Jiyoung lay down on the bed and closed her eyes, facing the ceiling. I suddenly became curious about the envelope James gave me before going to bed. He grabbed the envelope placed on the side table and carefully ripped it open. It contained a black iPhone 4, a charger, five Sifa $20 international calling cards, and a plastic CD600 with 30 Canadian $20 notes. Jiyoung was surprised by his meticulous consideration.
Jiyoung looked at the time and thought she could call her mother in Korea. Her mother's phone call said, 'A love given by heaven. I love you. 'I really love you.' A song played. Her mom was surprised when she thought the caller was listening to strange music. She said, ‘Uh. It wasn't this song when I called from Korea...'
“Honey, please.”
Her mother's voice was clear and soft, and even in Jiyoung's thoughts of her, it was nothing short of lovely. But then she felt that she was kind of strange.
“Mother. It’s me! Jiyoung. Kim Jiyoung.”
“Oh my! Is this Jiyoung? Where are you?”
“Mom is here in Toronto. The Novotel Hotel in North York. She broke up with Uncle James a little while ago.”
“Nothing happened, right?”
“Yes. I’m not there right now, but something happened. Uncle James solved it.”
“What about Uncle James?”
“Mom, that’s what you’re most curious about, right? She was good, and then she was just average. Why didn’t you tell me in detail beforehand?”
“Yes. I thought it would be better for you to meet and find out for yourself. You are disappointed.”
“Yes, I did, but I’m not really interested right now. I’ll be busy soon. Mom! I’m so sleepy. I’m going to sleep now.”
Jiyoung fell asleep just like that.
With her mouth open, she watched blankly as the blue worm grew bigger and bigger and burst out of the body of her human host. Her bell was ringing in the distance. Jiyoung got up quickly. It was a dream. The cell phone on her side table rang.
"hello."
“Good morning. Dr. Jiyoung Kim.”
It was Toronto. And the only person who could say good morning in Korean was James. Of course, the voice became irritated.
“Mister! What’s happening? I was sleeping…”
Looking at the time on Jiyoung's phone, it was 7 in the morning.
“Dr. Jiyoung Kim. You have a meeting at 8 on Monday morning, right? You need to hurry.”
"Yes. So what do you mean, Monday morning?"
Jiyoung got up quickly. The thought that occurred to her was that she had no idea where the conference was or how to get there.
“Uncle. Uncle James! Where are you?”
“It’s in the parking lot at the hotel entrance.”
Phew~ that was a relief.
“Please wait a moment. I’ll be down soon.”
She had nothing in particular to take care of. She took a shower and dressed in the same clothes she had worn in Korea. She left only a few clothes she had prepared from Triple Red luggage in the drawer of her hotel room and dragged her shoulder bag and triple red downstairs. Her heart was racing. Her plan to wake up early, drink her coffee, compose herself, and attend the meeting went awry from the start.
“Uncle. Do you know where it is?”
Because she was impatient, Jiyoung was more worried about whether she would be able to find her and whether she would be late rather than saying thank you.
“That’s why we chose this hotel. You can sort out her brain while you go. It should take about 20 minutes.”
James used polite language as if he were his personal chauffeur.
The Global Idiosyncratic Microbiology Research Society was located a little north and east of Finch and Dufferin. There was a large park with a nice lawn and a lake in the middle of the park, and on the north side of the lake was the University of Toronto's Natural Science Research Institute building. Jiyoung ran along the lake and got off in front of the white two-story building on the east side. James was in such a hurry that he couldn't even ask what he was going to do. When he entered the Global Unique Microbiology Research Society, the first thing he saw was Professor Will Keiller, who was waiting in the lab to greet him.
“Good morning, Dr. Kim! I’m so glad to see you. Are you okay?”
“Good morning, Pro. Will Kayler. I'm also good to see you again. Long time no see ya. Isn’t it?”
They were so happy that they hugged each other and even kissed each other on the cheek. It will happen. After seeing them in Seoul last year, neither of us would have guessed that we would meet again in Toronto like this. Professor Will guided Jiyoung to a room at the end of the hallway on the second floor. There were four large screens over 80 inches long attached to the white walls, and three computers were placed on an open desk next to the window with the home screen open.
“This is the space that Dr. Kim will use. How do you feel?”
Jiyoung was shocked. It was something completely unexpected. She thought she would simply report the current situation in Korea regarding Blue Worm with Evidence and be done with it, but she sensed that something was happening differently. At that time, when Dr. Will tapped the keyboard, a world map appeared on the screen, and a surgery scene in an unknown hospital appeared on another screen. On another screen, an enlarged photo of a blue worm like the one Jiyoung had was displayed. The blue worm must have been sent by Jiyoung via email from Korea.
“What’s going on, Pro. (Professor) Will.?”
“Ah, I will explain the situation in a moment. First, let’s put down our hats and go to the conference room.”
The conference room he led us to was on the other side. As they entered, the five people who were already sitting there stood up and welcomed Dr. Jiyoung Kim. Jiyoung was surprised that she was being treated this way, and two of them were well-known people with research papers published in international medical journals. There were also two 80-inch screens attached to the walls of the conference room.
"ruler. Now, let’s listen to an explanation of the blue worm named by Dr. Jiyoung Kim.”
As expected, it was Professor Will. As he sat down, Dr. Jiyoung Kim realized that this situation, which did not even give him time to breathe, was very serious and that he was overcome with fear. She took a deep breath, took off her jumper on the chair she had assigned, and opened her triple red. She then took out a small transparent bottle that she kept neatly in.
“This is a real blue worm. It is exactly as it was before self-destruction. After this, the blue worm melts itself into a green liquid inside the human host. Internal organs that come into contact with this green liquid instantly melt. It's fatal. Where is Won Suk-ju? We are looking into how it entered the human body. This one is about 2cm long, but the mature self-destructed castle is estimated to be about 3.2cm long. She has now confirmed outbreaks in five different regions of Korea. Additionally, similar cases are said to have occurred in China, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Their discoverers were not yet sure of their existence, so they asked the Korean Society of Microbiology about them as unidentified objects. I think they recognize it as a variant growth of superbugs. For other matters, please refer to the report already submitted.”
Jiyoung sat down in her seat and wiped the sweat that had formed on her forehead with the back of her hand. As she explained, she suddenly felt fear that this might not be a normal situation.
She said,
“I just heard a brief explanation of blue worms and the situation in Korea from Dr. Jiyoung Kim. Are there any questions?"
Professor Will said. He was presiding over this meeting. No one asked any questions. He was hoping to hear more from Professor Will.
