Good afternoon everyone. The Old Testament reading for our worship service Sunday will be Numbers 6:22-26 and our New Testament reading will be Luke 18:9-17.  The text for my sermon is Job 13:1—28 and the title of my sermon is "Job's Case Against God." Numbers 6:22-26

22. ○여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되

The LORD said to Moses,

23. 아론과 그의 아들들에게 말하여 이르기를 너희는 이스라엘 자손을 위하여 이렇게 축복하여 이르되

“Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:

24. 여호와는 네게 복을 주시고 너를 지키시기를 원하며

“ ‘ “The LORD bless you

and keep you;

25. 여호와는 그의 얼굴을 네게 비추사 은혜 베푸시기를 원하며

the LORD make his face shine on you

and be gracious to you;

26. 여호와는 그 얼굴을 네게로 향하여 드사 평강 주시기를 원하노라 할지니라 하라

the LORD turn his face toward you

and give you peace.” ’

Luke 18:9-17

9. ○또 자기를 의롭다고 믿고 다른 사람을 멸시하는 자들에게 이 비유로 말씀하시되

To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable:

10. 두 사람이 기도하러 성전에 올라가니 하나는 바리새인이요 하나는 세리라

“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

11. 바리새인은 서서 따로 기도하여 이르되 하나님이여 나는 다른 사람들 곧 토색, 불의, 간음을 하는 자들과 같지 아니하고 이 세리와도 같지 아니함을 감사하나이다

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.

12. 나는 이레에 두 번씩 금식하고 또 소득의 십일조를 드리나이다 하고

I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

13. 세리는 멀리 서서 감히 눈을 들어 하늘을 쳐다보지도 못하고 다만 가슴을 치며 이르되 하나님이여 불쌍히 여기소서 나는 죄인이로소이다 하였느니라

“But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

14. 내가 너희에게 이르노니 이에 저 바리새인이 아니고 이 사람이 의롭다 하심을 받고 그의 집으로 내려갔느니라 무릇 자기를 높이는 자는 낮아지고 자기를 낮추는 자는 높아지리라 하시니라

“I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

15. ○사람들이 예수께서 만져 주심을 바라고 자기 어린 아기를 데리고 오매 제자들이 보고 꾸짖거늘

People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them.

16. 예수께서 그 어린 아이들을 불러 가까이 하시고 이르시되 어린 아이들이 내게 오는 것을 용납하고 금하지 말라 하나님의 나라가 이런 자의 것이니라

But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

17. 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 누구든지 하나님의 나라를 어린 아이와 같이 받아들이지 않는 자는 결단코 거기 들어가지 못하리라 하시니라

Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

 욥기 13장1~28

Job 13:1—28

1. 나의 눈이 이것을 다 보았고 나의 귀가 이것을 듣고 깨달았느니라

“My eyes have seen all this,

my ears have heard and understood it.

2. 너희 아는 것을 나도 아노니 너희만 못하지 않으니라

What you know, I also know;

I am not inferior to you.

3. 참으로 나는 전능자에게 말씀하려 하며 하나님과 변론하려 하노라

But I desire to speak to the Almighty

and to argue my case with God.

4. 너희는 거짓말을 지어내는 자요 다 쓸모 없는 의원이니라

You, however, smear me with lies;

you are worthless physicians, all of you!

5. 너희가 참으로 잠잠하면 그것이 너희의 지혜일 것이니라

If only you would be altogether silent!

For you, that would be wisdom.

6. 너희는 나의 변론을 들으며 내 입술의 변명을 들어 보라

Hear now my argument;

listen to the pleas of my lips.

7. 너희가 하나님을 위하여 불의를 말하려느냐 그를 위하여 속임을 말하려느냐

Will you speak wickedly on Godʼs behalf?

Will you speak deceitfully for him?

8. 너희가 하나님의 낯을 따르려느냐 그를 위하여 변론하려느냐

Will you show him partiality?

Will you argue the case for God?

9. 하나님이 너희를 감찰하시면 좋겠느냐 너희가 사람을 속임 같이 그를 속이려느냐

Would it turn out well if he examined you?

Could you deceive him as you might deceive a mortal?

10. 만일 너희가 몰래 낯을 따를진대 그가 반드시 책망하시리니

He would surely call you to account

if you secretly showed partiality.

11. 그의 존귀가 너희를 두렵게 하지 않겠으며 그의 두려움이 너희 위에 임하지 않겠느냐

Would not his splendor terrify you?

Would not the dread of him fall on you?

12. 너희의 격언은 재 같은 속담이요 너희가 방어하는 것은 토성이니라

Your maxims are proverbs of ashes;

your defenses are defenses of clay.

13. 너희는 잠잠하고 나를 버려두어 말하게 하라 무슨 일이 닥치든지 내가 당하리라

“Keep silent and let me speak;

then let come to me what may.

14. 내가 어찌하여 내 살을 내 이로 물고 내 생명을 내 손에 두겠느냐

Why do I put myself in jeopardy

and take my life in my hands?

15. 그가 나를 죽이시리니 내가 희망이 없노라 그러나 그의 앞에서 내 행위를 아뢰리라

Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him;

I will surely defend my ways to his face.

16. 경건하지 않은 자는 그 앞에 이르지 못하나니 이것이 나의 구원이 되리라

Indeed, this will turn out for my deliverance,

for no godless person would dare come before him!

17. 너희들은 내 말을 분명히 들으라 내가 너희 귀에 알려 줄 것이 있느니라

Listen carefully to what I say;

let my words ring in your ears.

18. 보라 내가 내 사정을 진술하였거니와 내가 정의롭다 함을 얻을 줄 아노라

Now that I have prepared my case,

I know I will be vindicated.

19. 나와 변론할 자가 누구이랴 그러면 내가 잠잠하고 기운이 끊어지리라

Can anyone bring charges against me?

If so, I will be silent and die.

20. ○오직 내게 이 두 가지 일을 행하지 마옵소서 그리하시면 내가 주의 얼굴을 피하여 숨지 아니하오리니

“Only grant me these two things, God,

and then I will not hide from you:

21. 곧 주의 손을 내게 대지 마시오며 주의 위엄으로 나를 두렵게 하지 마실 것이니이다

Withdraw your hand far from me,

and stop frightening me with your terrors.

22. 그리하시고 주는 나를 부르소서 내가 대답하리이다 혹 내가 말씀하게 하옵시고 주는 내게 대답하옵소서

Then summon me and I will answer,

or let me speak, and you reply to me.

23. 나의 죄악이 얼마나 많으니이까 나의 허물과 죄를 내게 알게 하옵소서

How many wrongs and sins have I committed?

Show me my offense and my sin.

24. 주께서 어찌하여 얼굴을 가리시고 나를 주의 원수로 여기시나이까

Why do you hide your face

and consider me your enemy?

25. 주께서 어찌하여 날리는 낙엽을 놀라게 하시며 마른 검불을 뒤쫓으시나이까

Will you torment a windblown leaf?

Will you chase after dry chaff?

26. 주께서 나를 대적하사 괴로운 일들을 기록하시며 내가 젊었을 때에 지은 죄를 내가 받게 하시오며

For you write down bitter things against me

and make me reap the sins of my youth.

27. 내 발을 차꼬에 채우시며 나의 모든 길을 살피사 내 발자취를 점검하시나이다

You fasten my feet in shackles;

you keep close watch on all my paths

by putting marks on the soles of my feet.

28. 나는 썩은 물건의 낡아짐 같으며 좀 먹은 의복 같으니이다

“So man wastes away like something rotten,

like a garment eaten by moths.
