yeah what's going on guys what's going
0:11
on guys all right so I've got a video
0:13
today that I'm making more for myself
0:15
than anything because I keep seeing
0:17
people screw up throwing cast nets
0:20
online and I've got an amazing video on
0:22
throwing a 5 plus foot cast net on the
0:24
channel already but I feel like I need
0:26
to make another one to show you guys how
0:28
to throw a small cast net and then kind
0:31
of the differences between throwing a
0:32
larger cast net and throw in a smaller
0:35
one because there's not a whole lot of
0:37
difference just fewer steps with the
0:38
smaller one but I see so many people
0:41
mess up it's driving me nuts I have to
0:43
make the video to show you guys how to
0:44
throw the small cast net and hopefully
0:47
you guys get a lot out of this so let's
0:48
get right into it so I've got my 4-foot
Tutorial
0:50
cast net here guys I had mentioned
0:52
before it's a little-bitty cast net it's
0:54
great for throwing from the bank because
0:56
you can throw it anywhere you can throw
0:57
it as far as you want it's an awesome
0:59
net I'm going to show you guys how to
1:00
throw it so first I'm gonna take my rope
1:02
there should be a loop at the end of
1:04
your rope if there isn't I would highly
1:06
recommend creating a loop so that you
1:07
can do this super easy you take this
1:09
loop you fold it back over on itself and
1:11
pull that line through simple knot put
1:14
it over your wrist and you're ready to
1:15
go so take a bunch of loops of your net
1:18
of your rope here loop them all up in
1:22
your hand here and get all the way to
1:24
the end right before you get to the
1:27
actual strings of your cast net you're
1:30
gonna grab the little eye of your cast
1:32
net here you're gonna pull that up to
1:34
your hand and since this is a small cast
1:37
net we don't really have to worry about
1:40
where we grab it but my recommendation
1:42
is always at your waist level here
1:44
wherever your waist level is so I'm
1:47
gonna grab it right there and I'm gonna
1:48
put that on top of the rope because what
1:50
you have to keep in mind is that this
1:52
cast net is coming out of your hand
1:54
before the rope is if the ropes on top
1:56
it's gonna get tangled up so once we've
1:59
got that taken care of there I'm gonna
2:01
take my cast net hold it out in front of
2:03
me and watch how the lines fall make
2:06
sure your cast nets not spinning and
2:07
then grab one of your lead weights at
2:09
the bottom pull that up
2:12
put it into your hand now notice how I
2:14
did not twist or anything like that
2:16
I'm just taking it where you can see
2:18
both of the lines falling straight and
2:20
I'm putting that one lead in my hand
2:21
there now this is gonna create two lead
2:24
weights that go down the side of your
2:26
net here one far from you or one close
2:28
to you take that one close to you and
2:31
just grab one little bundle that's all
2:33
you need
2:34
now you're gonna notice that you've got
2:35
about half the net there and about half
2:37
the net in your hand and that is all you
2:39
need when you're throwing for the small
2:41
net now let's show you how to throw it
2:43
so we've got our set up here I've got
2:45
some little bluegill right here in front
2:47
of me they're a little skittish we're
2:48
gonna try to catch them anyway
2:49
the main point here I'm trying to get is
2:51
showing you how to throw this now like I
2:53
said you've got your right hand here
2:55
which has got most of your ingredients
2:56
in your hand and now that's going to
2:59
come over the top of your other hand
3:02
this hand is not doing much work at all
3:04
super super simple
3:06
it stays almost still throughout this
3:07
entire motion now I'm gonna take my
3:09
right hand and I'm just going to throw
3:11
it and it's gonna create a perfect
3:15
circle now once you get more used to
3:18
this motion you can throw it farther
3:20
throw it closer to you this little net
3:22
you can throw anywhere it will do
3:24
whatever you want it to do because it's
3:26
so small so now I'm going to show you
3:29
how to set it up a little bit faster and
3:31
show you how I would do it if I was out
3:34
by myself so like I said I've taken the
3:36
net I'm going to have gone ahead and set
3:38
it up in my hand here pull one up a
3:40
little bitty bundle from the close side
3:43
and then I'm ready to throw
3:53
look at that easy peasy lemon squeezy
Big Net
4:00
now let's move to the big net so this is
4:03
my six-foot cast net now the other video
4:05
I have on my channel is actually of one
4:07
of me throwing a 7-foot cast now now
4:08
there's almost the zero difference and
4:10
how you throw each of those cast nets so
4:13
don't worry about that but what I want
4:15
to show you mainly is how you throw the
4:17
small cast net versus this cast net so
4:20
now let's do the same setup that I
4:21
showed you with the smaller cast net
4:23
except this time since the cast nets
4:25
longer still use that method where
4:27
you're grabbing at your waist here grab
4:30
that bundle lay it on top of the rope
4:32
here and lay that net behind you there
4:34
all right so now once you've got that
4:36
and you're holding the net it's going to
4:38
be the same first couple of motions here
4:40
so I'm gonna reach down I'm gonna grab
4:41
one of those pieces of lead I'm gonna
4:44
put that into my hand exactly the neck I
4:46
did for the first cast net now you see
4:49
these two lines coming down here I'm
4:51
grabbing that close one yet again but
4:53
what I'm going to do this time instead
4:55
of going ahead and making my bundle this
4:57
time we're gonna take two extra steps
4:58
I'm gonna put this lead in my hand here
5:01
same way we put the first one reach down
5:04
grab the far lead this time still got
5:06
those two strings coming down grab the
5:08
far lead put that one in my hand and now
5:12
we're ready to make the bundle since
5:13
it's a bigger cast net there's more
5:15
volume for the cast net you need to have
5:18
more of the net in your hand ready to go
5:20
that's the only reason we're doing this
5:22
so now you've got those two strings
5:23
coming down again so we're gonna grab
5:25
the closed one we're gonna make a bundle
5:26
and you should have like I said it's
5:29
gonna be the same thing about the same
5:30
in this hand as that's down here but
5:32
instead we've got two more extra legs in
5:34
our hand almost no different let's go
5:37
ahead and cast this so I've got my net
5:39
set up here now we're ready to throw now
5:41
one thing you'll notice here is this
5:43
lead on top it likes to drop over on the
5:45
front or on the back I like to keep that
5:47
lid on the back so it's out of the way
5:49
if that
5:50
you run across that problem now since
5:52
I've got my cast net ready to go we're
5:55
gonna do that same motion with that
5:56
right hand if you're right-handed it's
5:59
gonna be the same way if you're
6:00
left-handed everything is just gonna be
6:01
in your left hand doing the work but
6:03
that right hand is going to come over
6:05
the top of everything else it's almost
6:07
like a frisbee motion and this hand's
6:09
not gonna do a whole lot it's just gonna
6:11
keep this net out of the way while this
6:13
net does the work so let's go ahead and
6:15
throw this it's as simple as that one of
Long Net
6:20
one thing I did want to mention about
6:22
this long big cast net that I didn't
6:23
mention in my first video on cast
6:25
netting is how you're gonna throw the
6:28
net further and how you would throw it
6:29
closer to you so for further away
6:32
obviously you're having use a little bit
6:34
more strength
6:35
so you'll figure have to figure out how
6:36
much strength you have to be able to do
6:37
this and how heavier net is this is not
6:39
a particularly heavy net so I don't have
6:42
to do this as drastically as some nets
6:45
might have to do if they're a little bit
6:46
heavier but at my waist level I'm
6:49
actually going to grab a little bit
6:51
lower and the reason I'm gonna do that
6:54
is because it's gonna give me more
6:55
control over the net to throw it further
6:57
and also the Nets gonna be in the air
7:01
for longer so it's gonna have more time
7:04
to open up whereas if you grabbed a less
7:06
of the net and you're throwing closer to
7:08
you then that's not going to have as
7:09
much time to open up so it's not going
7:11
to open up quite as good but when you're
7:13
throwing further away having less of the
7:15
net down below your hand here is not a
7:17
problem because that net has more time
7:19
to open up so let's go ahead and do our
7:21
same setup here one in the hand bar one
7:26
in the hand closed one in the hand
7:29
and then a bundle of the clothes and
7:33
let's throw it as far as we can throw it
7:37
now is about I would say about 12 feet
7:40
that's not too bad for a 6-foot cast net
7:43
so now this technique comes in handy
7:45
sometimes when you're trying to reach
7:48
the bait that's off of the beach that's
7:49
a little bit deeper than you can
7:51
actually get to yourself so that's an
7:52
extremely handy method I definitely
7:55
definitely recommend so now I'm going to
7:57
show you how to throw it a little bit
7:59
closer to you if you're just trying to
8:01
get an open spread but you don't need to
8:02
get it but a couple of feet away from
8:04
you this is a good method for that and
8:06
it's the same way we did the other one
8:07
except we're gonna go the opposite
8:09
direction
8:09
I'm grabbing at my waist level here
8:12
except I'm gonna slide my hand up a
8:14
little bit higher closer to my chest
8:16
figure out what's comfortable for you
8:17
but get that net just a little bit off
8:19
the ground and do the same method and
8:22
now you've got more of the net already
8:24
open so you're practically doing all the
8:27
work already and you just need to drop
8:29
it in it's as simple as that that's how
Conclusion
8:37
you throw the net normally a little bit
8:39
further and a little bit closer to you
8:42
and the same methods apply to the
8:44
smaller net as well except with a
8:46
smaller net you don't really need to
8:48
worry about that sort of stuff because
8:49
it is so small
9:11
and that's how it's done that's how you
9:13
throw a small cast net that's how you
9:14
throw a little bit bigger cast net and
9:16
I'd say this is probably gonna work up
9:17
until you get about to a 10-foot cast
9:19
net or so there's some different methods
9:21
once you get to that 10 to 12-foot range
9:22
that are gonna be useful but this is
9:25
gonna work for pretty much any cast net
9:26
you're ever gonna need unless your
9:28
commercial cast netting so that's how
9:29
it's done if you guys enjoyed the video
