접속사나 접속부사 및 구;

접속사는 단어와 단어, 구와 구 또는 절과 절을 연결해 주는 역할이나
접속 부사는 부사적인 의미를 가지면서
동시에 전달하고자 하는 의미의 전개/전환을 표시해 주는 역할로
앞서 언급한 말에서 다음 말로 의견을 개진하는 과정에 있어서
앞 말에  관련하여 추가 설명을 한다던지 비슷하나 다르다든지 전혀 반대되는 말이
접속부사 뒤에 따른다는 신호를 대화 상대에게 보내는 역할을 한다
영어로는 Transition words 라 하고 영한사전은    (다른 상태・조건으로의) 이행(移行)이라 정의한다

예문
People tend to put on weight in middle age. However, gaining weight is not inevitable.
however 는 접속부사로 앞에서 한 말에 대조적인 내용의 말이 접속부사 뒤에 따른다는 신호를 주는 역할이다

moreover 는 접속부사로 앞말에 대한 추가적인 설명이 뒤따른다는 신호를 주어
앞서 말한 내용에서 다음 말로 의미를 유연하게 전환하는 역할을 한다

접속부사를 쓰지 않고 단문으로 쓸 수도 있지만
앞 말과 뒷말의 의미가 유연하게 연결되지 않아서 대화상대도 이해를 매끄럽게 진행할 수 없게 된다
