<p>Confusing words alert!</p><p>Did you know flammable and inflammable have the same meaning? Both mean "can easily catch fire"!</p><p>But why?</p><p>Normally, the prefix "in--" before a word means "not" or "opposite" (like sincere vs. insincere).</p><p>But for "inflammable," it's different! This "in-" comes from an old Latin word meaning "cause to be." So "inflammable" means "cause to be in flames."</p><p>English has many quirks like this. That's why going to an English class helps so much!
