매년 9일간 열리는 산 페르민 축제(피에스타 데 산 페르민)가 지난주 스페인 팜플로나에서 시작되었다. 유명한 황소달리기를 포함한 이 축제에는 매년 수천 명의 방문객이 찾아온다. 팜플로나의 마을 광장에서 대규모 군중이 추피나조를 기다리면서 축제가 시작되고 이어서 카니발, 불꽃놀이, 황소달리기, 수많은 투우(鬪牛)가 이어진다. 여기에는 올해 첫 실행 중인 일부의 이미지가 모여있다.

The annual nine-day Fiesta de San Fermín began in Pamplona, Spain, last week. The festival, including the famous running of the bulls, attracts thousands of visitors every year. The fiesta kicks off as massive crowds await the chupinazo in Pamplona’s town square, followed by a carnival, fireworks, the running of the bulls, and many bullfights. Gathered here are images from some of the first runs this year.

🎈🐮🐂산 페르민 축제(스페인어: Fiesta de San Fermin, 영어: Festival of San Fermin)는 스페인의 북부 나바라주의 수호성인이자 3세기 말 주교였던 성 페르민을 기리기 위해 매년 7월 6일에 나바라주의 주도인 팜플로나에서 개최되는 축제이다. 7월 6일 정오에 시작하여 7월 14일 자정에 끝난다. 매년 100만 명 이상의 관람객이 방문하고 있으며 어니스트 헤밍웨이의 소설 《태양은 다시 떠오른다》에 등장하여 세계적으로 잘 알려진 스페인의 대표 축제이다. 17, 18세기에는 종교적 색채가 두드러졌으나 19세기에는 여자를 대포 속에 넣고 쏘는 오락성 경기와 가면을 쓰고 분장을 한 형태의 행렬이 추가되는 등 오락적 성격이 강한 축제로 변모하였다. 현재 축제 기간 동안에는 소몰이, 투우, 행진, 폭죽 터트리기 등의 다양한 행사를 진행하며 황소달리기와 같은 행사는 빈번한 사고를 동반하기 때문에 팜플로나 시에서는 매번 안전을 위해 다양한 노력을 기울이고 있다.
