공동체의 가장 큰 사명은 신앙 전수일 것입니다. 선배들의 헌신으로 오늘 자신들이 있음을 알아야 하고, 그 가치를 인식하여 신앙의 전통과 유산을 후배들에게 물려주는 것이 공동체의 존재 이유입니다. 성벽 재건에 참여하는 이스라엘 백성들의 헌신은 그냥 나온 것이 아니었습니다. 약속의 땅에 정착한 새로운 언약 백성의 명단은 제사장과 레위인의 명단으로 마무리됩니다. 레위인과 제사장은 유다 백성에게 구원 이야기를 전달해줌으로써, 언약 공동체의 정체성을 확립하는 역할을 맡았습니다.
