[NOTICE]
Since I'm trying to contain the number of participants within no more than 10
due to the nature of this study group and limited seatings,
current members are fixed as below.
It means that even though you've had an interview a long time ago and joined a few times
it doesn't automatically give you the green light to participate.
If you happen to be absent more than a month in a row,
please give me a notice and I won't count you out
otherwise I would assume you're not willing to attend anymore
so unoccupied seat will be passed to a new commer.
If you wish to attend after a long-time absence, please contact me first. :)
CURRENT MEMBERS are...
Tia, (Andy), Simon, (Miisu), (Matthew), Sun, James, (Kim), Grace,
Sanghwa, Danny, Amelia, Jae-Sang, (Jinny), Sophie, Jangwhan, Kory, Charles
Minutes of the meeting on 8/29
We had 7 English talkaholics on last Saturday, me, James, Sangwha, Sun, Grace, Charles and Simon.
We spent a bit of time introducing and casual talks and moved on to discussions. Sangwha introduced a video clib which was comprised of interviews from foreigners talking about differences between Korean women and Western counterparts. James topic was relavant to Sanghwa's, the distinguishing behaviors of Korean women who are dating Westerners for English. Charles shared his experience of exotic food in philippine. Sun cast a hypothetical question; if your dying friend deposited money with you for his spoiled son asking you to use that money for sending him a medical school, and at the same time, you have your own promising son whose dream is about to be dashed because you were not able to afford his tuition fee and what would you do? Would you keep the money for the hopless future of your dying friend's son or divert the money to support your son and maybe pay back later? We had robust discussions with an obviously wide range of topics thanks to all members.
The debate topic was whether female bare-breasted panhandlers has to be banned in Time square. Supporting group for topless women, me, Simon, Sangwha and Charles believed that this is a form of free speech and banning them is something going backwards where it is totally legal all over the country. However opposing group, Sun, Grace, James countered that even though they fully support freedom of speech, but there's no such unlimited freedom and it has to have a dgree that people can have consent to.
It was a lot of fun as always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The highlight of our study! ㅋㅋ
Thank you guys for coming and your passions! I hope to see everyone again on this coming Saturday!!
