Grease는 1978년에 개봉된 미국의 명 배우 존트라볼타와 인기 가수 올리비아뉴틀존主演의 뮤지컬영화 삽입곡으로

1978년도 8월26일부터 2주간 빌 보드 챠트 1위에 머문 히트곡입니다.

Grease 는 머릿 기름을 비롯해 '기름 일반'을 이르는 말로서 엘비스 의 '로큰롤' 에 열광하던 1950년대

미국 젊은이들의 차림새가 바로 가죽 점퍼에 청바지, 기름을발라 넘겨세운 머리였습니다.

가장 성공적이었던 뮤지컬 영화 중의 하나인 Grease 의 주제가인 이 곡을 그룹 비지스의 큰 형이  작곡하였으나, 

실제 영화상의 OST는 비지스가 직접부르지 않고 Frankie Valli가 불렀는데, 놀랍게도 단숨에 빌 보드 넘버원을 기록하게 됩니다.

Frankie Valli 의 장난끼와 불량끼가 넘치는 목소리가 고등학생들의 풋사랑을 주제로 한 이 영화의 Theme와 아주 잘 맞아

떨어진다는 느낌입니다.
