Script. 1st. Timothy 6 : 12 ~ 13 ------------------------------------------------------- Pastor Khan Aqeel / 2025 - 10 – 19

Let us make an effective & perfect confession.

In our daily lives we make lots of confessions. We make confessions to our friends, to our spouses, to boss. to our siblings etc., Sometimes we make confession with our own-selves. Brothers and sisters, I will not take long time in introduction of sermon. Let’s jump into Holy Bible and see some real Heros, who made wonderful confessions and taught us real way “ What and How to make confessions.”

1. The confession of Zacchaeus.

Zacchaeus was a tax collector. Zacchaeus never met Jesus but he heard about Jesus. Zacchaeus was keenly interested to see Jesus. One more thing he was money lover (Tax collector). But when he met Jesus. His thoughts about life were totally changed. ~ “Money lover turned into money giver.”

Luke 19 : 8

But Zacchaeus stood up & said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here & now I give half of my possessions

to the poor, & if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

It’s time to think about our life style. Let’s meet Jesus & turned 180 degree. Give in God’s way.

Luke 6 : 38

Give, & it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together & running

over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

2. The confession of a Centurion.

Friends, Centurion was not Jew but when his servant became sick. He showed great faith in Jesus and sent message to Jesus. That he is sinner and he isn’t Jew. “Just say, and his servant will be healed”.

Matthew 8 : 8 & 10

8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

Friends, whenever, wherever we’ill ask with faith without any doubt. We will receive. Just ask with faith.

James 1 : 6 ~ 7

But when you ask, you must believe & not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

3. The confession of 2 robbers or criminals.

We all know that Jesus was hanged between 2 robbers. One robber was saved cause of his confession.

Luke 23 : 39 ~ 41

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at Him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself & us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But This man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in paradise.”

Both persons were criminals but one was saved cause of his confession. Let’s accept Jesus as Savior.

Matthew 16 : 16 ~~ Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

4. The confession of two person in temple.

Jesus gave a wonderful parable of confession. Once Pharisee & a tax collector went into temple to pray.

Luke 18 : 11 ~ 12 (Confession of Pharisee)

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people robbers, evildoers, adulterers or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

Pharisee claim, God I am so good. I do all good things, Tithes, offerings & fasting. I’m very good.

But on other hand, we can see the confession of Tax collector. His confession was totally different.

Luke 18 : 13 ~ 14 (Confession of Tax collector)

“But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled,

and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

Friends, today it is time to examine ourselves. Do we confess or pray like Pharisee or Tax collector?

5. The confession of Peter & Thomas.

People called Thomas doubter but see his confession. No one says that Jesus is Lord and God.

John 20 : 27 ~ 28

Then He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see My hands. Reach out your hand and put

it into My side. Stop doubting and believe.” - Thomas said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”

Matthew 16 : 16 ~ Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

6. The confession of Job.

We know Job was very righteous person but Devil took everything within a day. Job lost his health, wealth, possession, children, slaves, wife said curse God & die. His friends drive him on wrong way.

Job 23 : 10 ~ 13

But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I will come forth as gold. My feet have closely followed His steps; I have kept to His way without turning aside. I have not departed from

the commands of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.

Friends, everything was against Job. But we can see he never complain. Job gave wonderful confession.

7. The Confession of David.

People trust in horses, chariots, bank balance, property & assets but David showed his faith in Lord.

Psalms 119 : 71 ~ 74

It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn Your decrees. The law from Your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. Your hands made me and

formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands. May those who fear

You rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word.

Let us trust in the Lord. His ways, His plans are the best and good for us.

Jeremiah 29 : 11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to

prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

8. The confession of our Lord Jesus.

Finally, I want to draw your attention towards the confession of Jesus. He always obey of God’s command.

Matthew 26 : 39 (3 times Jesus confessed or prayed same)

Going a little farther, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, “My Father,

if it is possible, may this cup be taken from Me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

Friends, Jesus by Himself God & He fulfill God’s will. Let’s obey God & His commands.

Conclusion :-

Today it’s time to examine our confessions by comparing our confessions with the Heros in Bible.

James 5 : 16

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that

you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

실질적이고 온전한 고백을 합시다

우리는 일상에서 수많은 고백을 합니다. 친구에게, 배우자에게, 상사에게, 형제에게 고백을 합니다. 때로는 우리자신과 고백을 합니다. 형제자매 여러분, 저는 설교의 도입에 많은 시간을 쓰지

않을 것입니다. 성경 속으로 뛰어들어서 대단한 고백을 하고 우리에게 진짜 길을

가르쳐준 진정한 영웅들을 알아봅시다. 무슨 고백을 어떻게 했을까요?

1. 삭개오의 고백.

삭개오는 세리였습니다. 삭개오는 예수를 만나지 못했지만 예수에 대해 들었습니다. 그는 예수를 보려는 대단한 관심이 있었습니다. 또한 그는 돈을 사랑하는 사람이었습니다. 하지만 그가 예수를 만났을 때 삶에 대한 그의 생각은 완전히 바뀌었습니다. 돈을 사랑하는 사람이 돈을 주는 사람이 되었습니다.

누가복음 19 : 8

삭개오가 서서 주께 여짜오되 주여 보시옵소서 내 소유의 절반을 가난한 자들에게

주겠사오며 만일 누구의 것을 속여 빼앗은 일이 있으면 네 갑절이나 갚겠나이다.

우리 삶의 양식에 대해 생각할 때입니다 예수를 만나고 180도 변화됩시다. 하나님의 방법대로 드리십시오.

누가복음 6 : 38

주라 그리하면 너희에게 줄 것이니 곧 후히 되어 누르고 흔들어 넘치도록 하여 너희에게

안겨 주리라 너희가 헤아리는 그 헤아림으로 너희도 헤아림을 도로 받을 것이니라.

2. 백부장의 고백.

백부장은 유대인이 아니었는데 그의 종이 병들었을 때 그는 예수께 대단한 믿음을 보이며 예수께

전갈을 보냈습니다. 그는 죄인이고 유대인이 아닌데 말씀만으로 종이 낫게 될 것이라 했습니다.

마태복음 8 : 8, 10

8 백부장 대답하여 이르되 주여 내 집에 들어오심을 나는 감당하지 못하겠사오니 다만 말씀으로만 하옵소서 그러면 내 하인이 낫겠사옵나이다 - 10 예수께서 들으시고 놀랍게 여겨 따르는 자들에게 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 이스라엘 중 아무에게서도 이만한 믿음을 보지 못하였노라.

언제, 어디서든지 우리는 의심하지 말고 믿음으로 구할 것입니다.

우리는 받을 것입니다. 오직 믿음으로 구하십시오.

야고보서 1 : 6 ~ 7 -- 오직 믿음으로 구하고 조금도 의심하지 말라 의심하는 자는 마치 바람에 밀려

요동하는 바다 물결 같으니 이런 사람은 무엇이든지 주께 얻기를 생각하지 말라.

3. 죄인인 두 강도의 고백.

예수님이 두 강도 사이에 달리셨음을 우리는 모두 압니다. 한 강도는 그의 고백 때문에 구원받았습니다.

누가복음 23 : 39 ~ 43

달린 행악자 중 하나는 비방하여 이르되 네가 그리스도가 아니냐 너와 우리를 구원하라 하되 하나는 그 사람을 꾸짖어 이르되 네가 동일한 정죄를 받고서도 하나님을 두려워하지 아니하느냐 우리는 우리가 행한 일에 상당한 보응을 받는 것이니 이에 당연하거니와 이 사람이 행한 것은 옳지 않은 것이 없느니라 하고 이르되 예수여 당신의 나라에 임하실 때에 나를 기억하소서 하니 예수께서 이르시되

내가 진실로 네게 이르노니 오늘 네가 나와 함께 낙원에 있으리라 하시니라.

두 사람 다 죄인이었지만 한 사람은 그의 고백 때문에 구원받았습니다. 예수를 구세주로 영접합시다.

마태복음 16 : 16 시몬 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주는 그리스도시요 살아계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다.

4. 성전에 있는 두 사람의 고백.

예수님이 대단한 고백의 비유를 해주셨습니다. 한번은 바리새인과 세리가 기도하기 위해 성전으로 갔습니다.

누가복음 18 : 11 ~ 12 (바리새인의 고백)

바리새인은 서서 따로 기도하여 이르되 하나님이여 나는 다른 사람들 곧 토색, 불의, 간음을 하는

자들과 같지 아니하고 이 세리와도 같지 아니함을 감사하나이다 나는 이레에

두 번씩 금식하고 또 소득의 십일조를 드리나이다 하고.

바리새인은 ‘하나님, 나는 너무나 선합니다. 선행, 십일조, 헌금, 금식을 모두 행했습니다. 나는 너무나 선합니다.’ 라고 말했습니다. 하지만 반면에 세리의 고백을 볼 수 있습니다. 그의 고백은 완전히 다릅니다.

누가복음 18 : 13 ~ 14 (세리의 고백)

세리는 멀리 서서 감히 눈을 들어 하늘을 쳐다보지도 못하고 다만 가슴을 치며 이르되 하나님이여 불쌍히 여기소서 나는 죄인이로소이다 하였느니라 내가 너희에게 이르노니 이에 저 바리새인이 아니고

이 사람이 의롭다 하심을 받고 그의 집으로 내려갔느니라 무릇 자기를 높이는

자는 낮아지고 자기를 낮추는 자는 높아지리라 하시니라.

오늘 우리자신을 점검할 시간입니다. 우리는 바리새인처럼 고백하고 기도합니까 아니면 세리처럼 입니까?

5. 베드로와 도마의 고백.

사람들은 도마를 의심하는 자라 부르지만 그의 고백을 보십시오.

누구도 예수를 주님이시고 하나님이라고 말한 사람은 없습니다.

요한복음 20 : 27 ~ 28

도마에게 이르시되 네 손가락을 이리 내밀어 내 손을 보고 네 손을 내밀어 내 옆구리에

넣어 보라 그리하여 믿음 없는 자가 되지 말고 믿는 자가 되라 도마가

대답하여 이르되 나의 주님이시요 나의 하나님이시니이다.

마태복음 16 : 16 시몬 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주는 그리스도시요 살아계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다.

6. 욥의 고백.

욥은 매우 의로운 사람이었음을 우리는 압니다. 하지만 하루 만에 마귀가 모든 것을 가져갔습니다.

욥은 건강, 소유물, 재산, 자녀, 노예들을 잃었고 아내는 하나님을 저주하고 죽으라고

말했습니다. 그의 친구들은 그를 잘못된 길로 몰고 갔습니다.

욥기 23 : 10 ~ 12

그러나 내가 가는 길을 그가 아시나니 그가 나를 단련하신 후에는 내가 순금같이 나오리라 내 발이 그의 걸음을 바로 따랐으며 내가 그의 길을 지켜 치우치지 아니하였고 내가 그의 입술의

명령을 어지기 아니하고 정한 음식보다 그의 입의 말씀을 귀히 여겼도다.

모든 것이 욥에게 불리했지만 그는 불평하지 않았음을 볼 수 있습니다. 욥은 대단한 고백을 했습니다.

7. 다윗의 고백.

사람들은 말과 전차, 은행 잔고, 소유물과 재산을 믿지만 다윗은 주님께 믿음을 보였습니다.

시편 119 : 71 ~ 74

고난 당한 것이 내게 유익이라 이로 말미암아 내가 주의 율례들을 배우게 되었나이다 주의 입의 법이 내게는 천천 금은보다 좋으니이다 주의 손이 나를 만들고 세우셨사오니 내가 깨달아 주의 계명들을 배우게 하소서 주를 경외하는 자들이 나를 보고 기뻐하는 것은 내가 주의 말씀을 바라는 까닭이니이다.

주님을 신뢰합시다. 그분의 길, 그분의 계획은 최고이고 우리에게 유익합니다.

예레미야 29 : 11

여호와의 말씀이니라 너희를 향한 나의 생각을 내가 아나니

평안이요 재앙이 아니니라 너희에게 미래와 희망을 주는 것이니라.

8. 우리 주 예수의 고백.

마지막으로 예수의 고백으로 여러분의 관심을 끌고자 합니다. 그분은 항상 하나님의 명령에 순종하셨습니다.

마태복음 26 : 39 (세 번 고백하고 기도하셨습니다)

조금 나아가사 얼굴을 땅에 대시고 엎드려 기도하여 이르시되 내 아버지여 만일 할 만하시거든 이 잔을 내게서 지나가게 하옵소서 그러나 나의 원대로 마시옵고 아버지의 원대로 하옵소서 하시고.

예수님 자신이 하나님이시고 그분은 하나님의 뜻을 행하십니다. 하나님과 그분의 명령에 순종합시다.

결론 :-   오늘 성경의 영웅들과 우리의 고백을 비교함으로써 우리의 고백을 점검할 시간입니다.

야고보서 5 : 16

그러므로 너희 죄를 서로 고백하며 병이 낫기를 위하여 서로 기도하라 의인의 간구는 역사하는 힘이 큼이니라.
