Cranberries(크랜베리스)는 아일랜드 출신의 락밴드이다. 이 곡이 쓰일 당시, 1993년 아일랜드 공화국 군대(IRA)가 북아일랜드에 주둔해있던 영국 군대들을 철수시키려고 웨링턴에 폭탄을 던지는 사건이 발발하게 되는데, 이로 인해 어린이 2명이 사망하게 된다. 크랜베리스의 보컬, 오리어던은 아이들에게 행해지는 이러한 비인간적인 현실을 꼬집기 위래 Zombie라는 곡을 썼다고 밝혔다. 이 노래로 인해 실제로 94년, IRA는 정전을 선언했다.
