Only salvation can be said to cure.

오로지 구원만이 치료한다고 말할 수 있다.

1 Cure is a word that cannot be applied to any remedy the world accepts as beneficial. What the world perceives as therapeutic is but what will make the body "better." When it tries to heal the mind, it sees no separation from the body, where it thinks the mind exists. Its forms of healing thus must substitute illusion for illusion. One belief in sickness takes another form, and so the patient now perceives himself as well.

1. 치료cure는 세상이 유익하다고 받아들이는 어떤 요법에도 적용될 수 없는 말이다. 세상이 치료적이라고therapeutic 지각하는 것은 단지 몸을 “더 좋게” 만드는 것에 불과하다. 세상은 마음이 몸 안에 존재한다고 여기며, 마음을 치유하려 할 때 몸과 마음을 전혀 구분하지 않는다. 그러므로 세상의 치유 형식은 환상을 환상으로 대체할 수밖에 없다. 병에 대한 하나의 믿음이 또 다른 형식을 취하며, 따라서 환자는 이제 자신이 건강하다고 지각한다.

2 He is not healed. He merely had a dream that he was sick, and in the dream he found a magic formula to make him well. Yet he has not awakened from the dream, and so his mind remains exactly as it was before. He has not seen the light that would awaken him and end the dream. What difference does the content of a dream make in reality? One either sleeps or wakens. There is nothing in between.

2. 그는 치유되지 않았다. 그는 단지 아프다는 꿈을 꾸었을 뿐이며, 그 꿈속에서 자신을 건강하게 해줄 마법적인 처방을 발견했다. 하지만 그는 꿈에서 깨어난 것이 아니며, 따라서 그의 마음은 이전과 정확히 똑같은 상태로 남아있다. 그는 자신을 깨워 꿈에 종지부를 찍을 빛을 보지 못했다. 꿈의 내용이 어떤 실재적인 차이를 만들어내겠는가? 너는 자거나 깨어나거나 둘 중 하나다. 그 사이에는 아무것도 없다.

3 The happy dreams the Holy Spirit brings are different from the dreaming of the world, where one can merely dream he is awake. The dreams forgiveness lets the mind perceive do not induce another form of sleep, so that the dreamer dreams another dream. His happy dreams are heralds of the dawn of truth upon the mind. They lead from sleep to gentle waking, so that dreams are gone. And thus they cure for all eternity.

3. 성령이 가져다주는 행복한 꿈들은, 네가 그저 깨어있다고 꿈꿀 수 있을 뿐인 세상의 꿈꾸기와는 다르다. 마음이 용서를 통해 지각하는 꿈은 다른 형식의 잠을 유발하지 않으며, 따라서 꿈꾸는 자로 하여금 다른 꿈을 꾸게 하지 않는다. 그의 행복한 꿈은 마음에 진리가 분명해지고 있음을 알리는 전령이다. 그 꿈은 잠에서 부드러운 깨어남으로 이어지며, 그럼으로써 꿈들이 사라진다. 이와 같이 행복한 꿈은 영원히 치료한다.

4 Atonement heals with certainty and cures all sickness. For the mind which understands that sickness can be nothing but a dream is not deceived by forms the dream may take. Sickness where guilt is absent cannot come, for it is but another form of guilt. Atonement does not heal the sick, for that is not a cure. It takes away the guilt that makes the sickness possible. And that is cure indeed. For sickness now is gone, with nothing left to which it can return.

4. 속죄는 확실하게 치유하며, 모든 병을 치료한다. 병이 단지 하나의 꿈일 수밖에 없음을 이해하는 마음은 꿈이 취할 수도 있는 형식에 속지 않기 때문이다. 죄의식이 없는 곳에는 병이 올 수 없다. 병은 죄의식의 또 다른 형식일 뿐이기 때문이다. 속죄는 병자들을 치유하지 않는다. 그것은 치료가 아니기 때문이다. 속죄는 병을 가능하게 하는 죄의식을 제거할 뿐이다. 그것이야말로 정녕 치료다. 병은 이제 사라졌으며, 병이 돌아올 수 있는 곳도 남아있지 않기 때문이다.

5 Peace be to you who have been cured in God and not in idle dreams. For cure must come from holiness, and holiness can not be found where sin is cherished. God abides in holy temples. He is barred where sin has entered. Yet there is no place where He is not. And therefore sin can have no home in which to hide from His beneficence. There is no place where holiness is not, and nowhere sin and sickness can abide.

5. 헛된 꿈이 아닌 하느님 안에서 치료된 너에게 평화가 있기를. 치료는 거룩함에서 비롯되어야 하며, 죄를 소중히 여기는 곳에서는 거룩함을 찾을 수 없다. 하느님은 거룩한 사원들 안에 머물러 사신다. 하느님은 죄가 들어간 곳에서는 거부당하신다. 하지만 하느님이 계시지 않는 곳은 없다. 그러므로 죄가 하느님의 은혜를 피해 숨을 수 있는 집이란 있을 수 없다. 거룩함이 없는 곳은 없으며, 죄와 병은 어느 곳에서도 머물러 살 수 없다.

6 This is the thought that cures. It does not make distinctions among unrealities. Nor does it seek to heal what is not sick, unmindful where the need for healing is. This is no magic. It is merely an appeal to truth which cannot fail to heal and heal forever. It is not a thought which judges an illusion by its size, its seeming gravity, or anything that is related to the form it takes. It merely focuses on what it is and knows that no illusion can be real.

6. 이것이 바로 치료하는 생각이다. 그것은 비실재들을 구분하지 않는다. 그것은 또한 병들지 않은 것을 치유하려 하지도 않으며, 어디가 치유되어야 하는지 관심을 두지도 않는다. 이것은 결코 마법이 아니다. 그것은 단지, 치유에 실패할 수 없고 영원히 치유하는 진리에게 보내는 호소일 뿐이다. 그것은 환상의 크기나 외견상의 심각성, 환상이 취하는 형식과 관련된 그 무엇으로도 환상을 판단하는 생각이 아니다. 그 생각은 단지 환상의 정체에 초점을 맞추며, 어떤 환상도 실제일 수 없음을 안다.

7 Let us not try today to seek to cure what cannot suffer sickness. Healing must be sought but where it is and then applied to what is sick so that it can be cured. There is no remedy the world provides that can effect a change in anything. The mind that brings illusions to the truth is really changed. There is no change but this. For how can one illusion differ from another but in attributes that have no substance, no reality, no core, and nothing that is truly different?

7 오늘 병들 수 없는 것을 치료하려고 시도하지 말자. 치유는 병이 있는 곳에서만 구해야 하며, 그런 다음 병든 것에 적용해야 그것이 치료될 수 있다. 세상이 제공하는 요법들 중에 무엇이든 바꿀 수 있는 것은 아무것도 없다. 환상을 진리로 가져오는 마음은 정말로 바뀐다. 이것 외에 다른 변화란 없다. 실체도 없고 실재도 없고 핵심도 없으며, 정말로 다른 것은 아무것도 없는 속성들을 제외하고, 환상들이 어떻게 서로 다를 수 있겠는가?

8 Today we seek to change our minds about the source of sickness, for we seek a cure for all illusions, not another shift among them. We will try today to find the source of healing, which is in our minds because our Father placed it there for us. It is not further from us than ourselves. It is as near to us as our own thoughts—so close it is impossible to lose. We need but seek it, and it must be found.

8. 오늘 우리는 병의 근원에 대한 우리의 마음을 바꾸려고 시도한다. 우리는 또다시 환상들 사이를 옮겨다니지 않고, 모든 환상에 대한 유일한 치료법을 구하기 때문이다. 오늘 우리는 치유의 근원을 찾으려고 한다. 그 근원은 우리의 마음 안에 있다. 우리의 아버지는 그것을 우리를 위해 그곳에 두셨기 때문이다. 그것은 우리 자신보다 더 멀리 떨어져 있지 않다. 그것은 우리 자신의 생각만큼이나 가까이 있으며, 너무 가까이 있어서 그것을 잃는 것은 불가능하다. 우리가 단지 구하기만 하면, 그것을 틀림없이 발견할 것이다.

9 We will not be misled today by what appears to us as sick. We go beyond appearances today and reach the source of healing from which nothing is exempt. We will succeed to the extent to which we realize that there can never be a meaningful distinction made between what is untrue and equally untrue. Here there are no degrees and no beliefs that what does not exist is truer in some forms than others. All of them are false and can be cured because they are not true.

9. 오늘 우리는 병들어 보이는 것에 오도되지 않을 것이다. 오늘 우리는 겉모습 너머로 가서, 아무것도 제외하지 않는 치유의 근원에 도달한다. 참이 아닌 것과 똑같이 참이 아닌 것 사이에 결코 어떤 의미 있는 구분도 할 수 없음을 깨닫는 정도만큼, 우리는 성공할 것이다. 이제 참이 아닌 것들 사이에는 어떤 등급도 없으며, 존재하지 않는 것의 어떤 형식이 다른 형식보다 더 참이라는 믿음도 없다. 그것들은 전부 거짓이며, 참이 아니므로 치료될 수 있다.

10 So do we lay aside our amulets, our charms and medicines, our chants and bits of magic in whatever form they took. We will be still and listen for the Voice of healing which will cure all ills as one, restoring saneness to the Son of God. No voice but this can cure. Today we hear a single Voice which speaks to us of truth where all illusions end, and peace returns to the eternal quiet home of God.

10. 따라서 우리는 부적과 주문과 약, 주술적인 노래와 그것이 취한 모든 형식의 마법 쪼가리들을 치워버린다. 우리는 고요해져서, 모든 병을 한꺼번에 치료하여 하느님의 아들에게 제정신을 회복해 주는 치유의 음성에 귀 기울일 것이다. 그밖에 어떤 음성도 치료할 수 없다. 오늘 우리는, 그 안에서 모든 환상이 끝나는 진리에 대해 말해주는 유일한 음성을 듣는다. 그러면 하느님의 영원하고 조용한 집에 평화가 돌아온다.

11 We waken hearing Him and let Him speak to us five minutes as the day begins and end the day by listening again five minutes more before we go to sleep. Our only preparation is to let our interfering thoughts be laid aside, not separately, but all of them as one. They are the same. We have no need to make them different and thus delay the time when we can hear our Father speak to us. We hear Him now. We come to Him today.

11. 우리는 그분의 음성을 들으며 깨어나고, 하루를 시작할 때 5분 동안 그분이 우리에게 말씀하시게 하며, 잠들기 전에 다시 5분 동안 귀 기울이며 하루를 마친다. 우리가 준비할 것이라고는, 방해하는 생각들이 치워지도록 허용하는 것뿐이다. 단, 하나씩 치워지기보다는 한꺼번에 치워지게 하라. 그 생각들은 다 같다. 그것들을 다르게 만듦으로써 아버지가 들려주시는 말씀을 들을 수 있는 때를 미룰 필요는 없다. 우리는 아버지의 말씀을 지금 듣는다. 우리는 아버지께 오늘 간다.

12 With nothing in our hands to which we cling, with lifted hearts and listening minds we pray:

13 Only salvation can be said to cure.

Speak to us, Father, that we may be healed.

13. 오로지 구원만이 치료한다고 말할 수 있습니다.

아버지, 우리에게 말씀하소서.

그로써 우리가 치유될 것입니다.

14 And we will feel salvation cover us with soft protection and with peace so deep that no illusion can disturb our minds nor offer proof to us that it is real. This will we learn today. And we will say our prayer for healing hourly and take a minute as the hour strikes to hear the answer to our prayer be given us as we attend in silence and in joy. This is the day when healing comes to us. This is the day when separation ends and we remember Who we really are.

14. 그러면 우리는 구원이 부드러운 보호와 평화로 우리를 감싸고 있음을 느낄 것이다. 그 평화는 너무도 깊어서, 어떤 환상도 우리의 마음을 어지럽히거나 환상이 실제라는 증거를 제공할 수 없다. 우리는 오늘 바로 이것을 배울 것이다. 그리고 우리는 매시 정각에 치유를 청하는 기도를 드린 후, 1분 동안 시간을 내서 침묵과 기쁨 속에 주의를 기울이며 기도에 대한 응답이 주어지는 것을 들을 것이다. 오늘은 우리에게 치유가 오는 날이다. 오늘은 분리가 끝나고 우리가 정말로 누구인지 기억하는 날이다.
