제1장.上經(상경) 21訓(훈) 157事(사) 제1 강령 誠(성).....정성.....第1事(제1事) 제5체 至感(지감)......감응함에 이름......第37事 제33용 應天(응천)......천리에 응함.......第39事   The 33rd Method :   Responding to Heaven(Eungcheon)...Responding to the Heavenly Principles... Matter 39.   "Responding to Heaven"   (Eungcheon) means nurturing one′s sincerity by responding in accordance    with the Heavenly Principles.    if God sends tribulation, one should accept them willingly and ensure     there is no deviation or failure in offering sincerity.    If God grants a joyous occasion, one should instead maintain a sense of reverent    awe so as not to become negligent in devoting sincerity.    Therefore, tribulations naturally fall upon those joyous blessings     never go to those who fail to devote their sincerity.    [Original Texr]       ■ 應天者는 應天理而養誠也 (응천자는 응천리이양성야라)         Those who respond to Heaven nurture their sincerity by aligning          with the Heavenly princiiples.       ■ 天授患難이라도 甘受而誠不違하며 (천수환난이라도 감수이성불위하며)          Even if Heaven inflicts suffering and hardshuips,          they accept them willingly, and their sincerity dose not falter.       ■ 天道吉祥이라도 反懼而誠不怠하나니 (천도길상이라도 반구이성불태하나니)          Even when the Heavenly Way brings good fortune and auspicious signs,           they instead remain fearful(reverent) and do not slacken in their sincerity.       ■ 歸患難於無誠이나 屬吉祥於非誠이니라. (귀환난어무성이나 속길상어비성이니라.)           Tribulations ultimately to thosse without sincerity,          Whereas good fortune never attaches itself to the insincere.       [Commentary/ Explanation]           Foolish people resent the hardships sent by Heaven,          yet they take joyous blesings from Heaven competely for granted.          This kind of mindset stems from an arrogance that lacks any fear            or reverence toward Heaven.           In such cases, tribulations are received with immense suffering and pain,           While blessings that were on their way will turn around and avoid them instead.           On the other hand, those who revere and honor Heaven welcome hardshils willingly            and receive blessings with reverent awe.            By doing so,  they naturally evade tribulations,            while blessings constantly pursus and find them wherever they go.
