Bible Reading - Luke 14:1~9

14:1 One Sabbath, 어느 안식일에 

when Jesus went to eat in the house of a prominent Pharisee, 

예수께서 유력한 바리새인의 집에 식사하시러 가셨을 때에 

he was being carefully watched. 그는 주의 깊게 지켜보고 계셨다.

14:2 There in front of him was a man suffering from dropsy.

그 앞에 수전증으로 고통받고 있는 한 사람이 있었다..

14:3 Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, 

예수께서 바리새인들과 율법사들에게 물었다.

"Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?"

안식일에 치료하는 것이 율법적인가 그렇지 않은가?

14:4 But they remained silent. 그러나 그들은 침묵하였다.

So taking hold of the man, 그래서 그 남자를 붙잡고 

he healed him and sent him away. 그는 그를 치료하셔서 보내셨다.

14:5 Then he asked them, 그때 그가 그들에게 물었다.

"If one of you has a son or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, 

만일 너희 중에 한 사람이 안식일에 우물에 빠진 아들이나 암소를 가지고 있다면 

will you not immediately pull him out?" 너희는 즉각적으로 그를 끌어내지 않겠는가?

14:6 And they had nothing to say. 그리고 그들은 아무 말도 하지 못했다.

14:7 When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, 

그가 손님들이 식탁에서 상석을 어떻게 차지하는지 보셨을 을 때 

he told them this parable: 그는 이 비유를 그들에게 말씀하셨다.

14:8 "When someone invites you to a wedding feast,

어떤 사람이 결혼 잔치에 너희를 초대했을 때

do not take the place of honor, 영예로운 자리를 취하지 말라.

for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited.

너희보다 더 명망 있는 사람이 초대를 받았을지도 모른다.

14:9 If so, 만일 그렇다면 

the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, 

너희 둘다 초대했던 주인이 와서 너에게 말할 것이다. 

'Give this man your seat.'이 사람에게 당신의 자리를 드리십시오.

 Then, humiliated,그때 굴욕을 당하고서 

 you will have to take the least important place.

너희는 덜 중요한 장소를 취해야만 할 것이다.
