1. 이틀이 지나면 유월절과 무교절이더라. 수제사장들과 서기관들이 그분을 흉계로 붙잡아 죽일 방도를 구하였으나

After two days was [the feast of] the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put [him] to death.

2. 말하기를, 백성의 소동이 있을까 염려되니 명절에는 하지 말자, 하더라.

But they said, Not on the feast [day], lest there be an uproar of the people.

3. 그분께서 베다니에 계실 때에 나병 환자 시몬의 집에서 음식 앞에 앉으시니 한 여자가 매우 귀한 나드 향유를 담은 옥합을 가지고 와서 그것을 깨뜨려 그분의 머리에 부으매

And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured [it] on his head. 

4. 어떤 사람들이 속으로 분개하여 이르되, 어찌하여 향유를 이렇게 허비하느냐?

And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

5. 그것을 삼백 데나리온 이상에 팔아 가난한 자들에게 줄 수 있었겠도다, 하며 그 여자를 향해 불평하니

For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

6. 예수님께서 이르시되, 그 여자를 가만 두어라. 어찌하여 그녀를 괴롭게 하느냐? 그 여자는 내게 선한 일을 하였느니라.

And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.

7. 가난한 자들은 항상 너희와 함께 있으니 언제라도 너희가 원하는 대로 그들에게 선을 행할 수 있거니와 나는 항상 너희와 함께 있지 아니하니라.

For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

8. 그 여자는 자기가 할 수 있는 일을 하였으니 곧 장사지내는 일을 위하여 미리 와서 내 몸에 기름을 부었느니라.

She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

9. 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 온 세상 어디든지 이 복음이 선포되는 곳에서는 사람들이 그녀가 행한 이 일도 말하여 그녀를 기념하리라, 하시니라.

Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, [this] also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

10. 열둘 중의 하나인 가룟 유다가 그분을 배반하여 수제사장들에게 넘겨주려고 그들에게 가매

And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them.

11. 그들이 그것을 듣고 기뻐하며 그에게 돈을 주기로 약속하니 그가 그분을 배반하여 적절히 넘겨줄 방도를 찾더라.

And when they heard [it], they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

12. 누룩 없는 빵을 먹는 첫날 곧 그들이 유월절 어린양을 잡는 날에 그분의 제자들이 그분께 이르되, 선생님께서 유월절 어린양을 잡수시도록 우리가 가서 예비하려 하오니 어디에서 하기를 원하시나이까? 하매

And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover? 

13. 그분께서 자기 제자들 중의 둘을 보내며 그들에게 이르시기를, 도시로 들어가라. 그러면 물 한 동이를 가지고 가는 사람을 너희가 만나리니 그를 따라가서

And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.

14. 그가 어디로 들어가든지 그 집 주인에게 이르되, 선생님께서 말씀하시기를, 내가 내 제자들과 함께 유월절 어린양을 먹을 객실이 어디 있느냐? 하시더라, 하라.

And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

15. 그러면 그가 예비하고 갖추어 놓은 큰 다락방을 너희에게 보여 주리니 거기서 우리를 위해 예비하라, 하시매

And he will shew you a large upper room furnished [and] prepared: there make ready for us.

16. 그분의 제자들이 나가서 도시로 들어가 보니 그분께서 자기들에게 말씀하신 대로더라. 그들이 유월절을 예비하니라.

And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

17. 저녁때에 그분께서 그 열둘과 함께 가시니라.

And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.

18. 그들이 앉아서 먹을 때에 예수님께서 이르시되, 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 너희 중의 한 사람 곧 나와 함께 먹는 자가 나를 배반하여 넘겨주리라, 하시거늘

And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.

19. 그들이 근심하기 시작하여 한 사람씩 그분께 말하기를, 그게 나니이까? 하고 또 다른 사람이, 그게 나니이까? 하매

And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, [Is] it I? and another [said, Is] it I?

20. 그분께서 그들에게 대답하여 이르시되, 그것은 열둘 중의 하나 곧 나와 함께 대접에 손을 넣는 자니라.

And he answered and said unto them, [It is] one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.

21. 사람의 [아들]은 참으로 자기에 대하여 기록된 대로 가려니와 사람의 [아들]을 배반하여 넘겨주는 그 사람에게는 화가 있으리로다! 그 사람은 차라리 태어나지 않았더라면 자기에게 좋을 뻔하였느니라, 하시니라.

The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

22. 그들이 먹을 때에 예수님께서 빵을 집으사 축복하시고 그것을 떼어 그들에게 주시며 이르시되, 받아서 먹으라. 이것은 내 몸이니라, 하시고

And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake [it], and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

23. 또 잔을 집으사 감사를 드리시고 그들에게 주시니 그들이 다 그것을 마시매

And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave [it] to them: and they all drank of it.

24. 그분께서 그들에게 이르시되, 이것은 많은 사람을 위하여 흘린 나의 피 곧 새 상속 언약의 피니라.

And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.

25. 진실로 내가 너희에게 이르노니, 내가 포도나무 열매에서 난 것을 [하나님]의 왕국에서 새롭게 마시는 그 날까지 다시는 마시지 아니하리라, 하시니라.

Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

26. 그들이 찬송 하나를 부른 뒤 올리브 산으로 가니라.

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. 

27. 예수님께서 그들에게 이르시되, 이 밤에 너희가 다 나로 인하여 실족하리라. 기록된바, 내가 목자를 치리니 양들이 흩어지리라, 하였느니라.

And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. 

28. 그러나 내가 일어난 뒤에 너희보다 먼저 갈릴리로 가리라, 하시니

But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

29. 베드로가 그분께 이르되, 모두가 실족할지라도 나는 그렇지 아니하리이다, 하매

But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet [will] not I.

30. 예수님께서 그에게 이르시되, 진실로 내가 네게 이르노니, 이 날 곧 이 밤에 수탉이 두 번 울기 전에 네가 세 번 나를 부인하리라, 하시니라.

And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, [even] in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.

31. 그러나 베드로가 더욱 열렬히 말하되, 내가 주와 함께 죽을지언정 결코 주를 부인하지 아니하리이다, 하매 그들도 다 그와 같이 말하니라.

But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.

32. 그들이 겟세마네라 하는 곳에 이르니 그분께서 자기 제자들에게 이르시되, 내가 기도할 동안 너희는 여기 앉아 있으라, 하시고

And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.

33. 베드로와 야고보와 요한을 데리고 가시면서 비로소 심히 놀라고 몹시 괴로워하시며

And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;

34. 그들에게 이르시되, 내 혼이 심히 슬퍼 죽을 지경이니 너희는 여기 머물러 깨어 있으라, 하시고

And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

35. 조금 앞으로 나아가사 땅에 엎드려 가능하면 이 시간이 자기에게서 지나가기를 기도하며

And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.

36. 이르시되, 아바, [아버지]여, 아버지께는 모든 것이 가능하오니 이 잔을 내게서 옮기시옵소서. 그러나 내 뜻대로 하지 마옵시고 아버지의 뜻대로 하옵소서, 하시고는

And he said, Abba, Father, all things [are] possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

37. 돌아오사 그들이 자는 것을 보시고 베드로에게 이르시되, 시몬아, 네가 자느냐? 네가 한 시간도 깨어 있을 수 없었느냐?

And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

38. 너희가 시험에 빠지지 않게 깨어 기도하라. 참으로 영은 준비되어 있으나 육이 약하도다, 하시니라.

Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly [is] ready, but the flesh [is] weak.

39. 그분께서 다시 나아가사 기도하시며 같은 말씀들을 말하시고

And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.

40. 돌아와 보시니 그들이 다시 자더라. (이는 그들의 눈이 무거웠기 때문이더라.) 그들이 그분께 무어라 대답할지 알지 못하더라.

And when he returned, he found them asleep again, their eyes were heavy, neither wist they what to answer him.

41. 그분께서 세 번째 오사 그들에게 이르시되, 이제는 자고 쉬라. 족하도다. 그 시각이 왔도다. 보라, 사람의 [아들]이 배반을 당해 죄인들의 손에 넘겨졌느니라.

And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take [your] rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

42. 일어나라. 우리가 함께 가자. 보라, 나를 배반하여 넘겨주는 자가 가까이 왔느니라, 하시니라.

Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.

43. 그분께서 아직 말씀하실 때에 곧 열둘 중의 하나인 유다가 왔는데 수제사장들과 서기관들과 장로들이 보낸 큰 무리가 칼과 몽둥이를 가지고 그와 함께하였더라.

And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.

44. 그분을 배반한 자가 이미 그들에게 암호를 주며 이르되, 내가 입을 맞추는 사람이 바로 그 사람이니 그를 잡아 안전하게 끌고 가라, 하고는

And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead [him] away safely.

45. 오자마자 곧바로 그분께 나아와, 선생님이여, 선생님이여, 하고 그분께 입을 맞추니라.

And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.

46. 그들이 그분께 손을 대어 그분을 붙잡거늘

And they laid their hands on him, and took him.

47. 곁에 서 있던 사람들 중의 한 사람이 칼을 빼서 대제사장의 종을 쳐 그의 귀를 베니

And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

48. 예수님께서 그들에게 응답하여 이르시되, 너희가 강도를 치듯 칼과 몽둥이를 가지고 나를 잡으러 나왔느냐?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and [with] staves to take me?

49. 내가 날마다 너희와 함께 성전에 있으면서 가르쳤으되 너희가 나를 붙잡지 아니하였도다. 그러나 성경 기록들은 반드시 성취되어야 하느니라, 하시더라.

I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.

50. 그들이 다 그분을 버리고 도망하니라.

And they all forsook him, and fled.

51. 어떤 청년이 벌거벗은 몸에 아마포를 두르고 그분을 따라가다가 청년들에게 붙잡히매

And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about [his] naked [body]; and the young men laid hold on him:

52. 아마포를 버리고 그들을 떠나 벌거벗은 채 도망하니라.

And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

53. 그들이 예수님을 대제사장에게로 끌고 갔는데 그와 더불어 모든 수제사장들과 장로들과 서기관들이 모여 있더라.

And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.

54. 베드로는 멀찍이 떨어져서 그분의 뒤를 따라 대제사장의 관저에까지 들어가 하인들과 함께 앉아 불을 쬐며 몸을 녹이더라.

And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

55. 수제사장들과 온 공회가 예수님을 죽이려고 그분을 대적할 증인을 구하되 아무도 찾지 못하였으니

And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.

56. 이는 그분을 대적하여 거짓 증언하는 자가 많으나 그들의 증언이 서로 일치하지 아니하였기 때문이더라.

For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.

57. 어떤 사람들이 일어나 그분을 대적하여 거짓 증언하며 이르되,

And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,

58. 우리가 그의 말을 들으니, 손으로 지은 이 성전을 내가 헐고 손으로 짓지 않은 다른 성전을 사흘 안에 지으리라, 하더라, 하되

We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

59. 오히려 그들의 증언도 서로 일치하지 아니하더라.

But neither so did their witness agree together.

60. 대제사장이 한가운데서 일어나 예수님께 물어 이르되, 네가 아무것도 대답하지 아니하느냐? 이들이 너를 대적하여 증언하는 것이 어떠하냐? 하되

And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what [is it which] these witness against thee?

61. 그분께서 잠잠하시고 아무것도 대답하지 아니하시거늘 대제사장이 다시 그분께 물어 이르되, 네가 찬송 받으실 이의 [아들] 그리스도냐? 하매

But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?

62. 예수님께서 이르시되, 내가 그니라. 사람의 [아들]이 권능의 오른편에 앉아 있는 것과 하늘의 구름들 가운데서 오는 것을 너희가 보리라, 하시니

And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

63. 이에 대제사장이 자기 옷을 찢으며 이르되, 어찌 우리에게 증인이 더 필요하리요?

Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?

64.신성모독하는 말을 너희가 들었도다. 너희 생각에는 어떠하냐? 하매 그들이 다 그분을 죽을죄를 지은 자로 정죄하고

Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

65. 어떤 자들은 그분께 침을 뱉기 시작하며 그분의 얼굴을 가리고 주먹으로 그분을 치며 그분께 이르되, 대언하라, 하고 하인들은 손바닥으로 그분을 치더라.

And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.

66. 베드로는 관저의 아래쪽에 있었는데 대제사장의 하녀들 가운데 하나가 와서

And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:

67. 베드로가 몸을 녹이고 있는 것을 보고 그를 바라보며 이르되, 당신도 나사렛 예수와 함께 있었도다, 하거늘

And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.

68. 그가 부인하여 이르되, 나는 네가 무슨 말을 하는지 알지도 못하고 깨닫지도 못하노라, 하며 나와서 현관으로 들어가니 수탉이 울더라.

But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.

69. 한 하녀가 다시 그를 보고 곁에 서 있던 자들에게 말하기 시작하여 이르되, 이 사람은 그들과 한 패라, 하니

And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is [one] of them.

70. 그가 다시 그것을 부인하더라. 조금 뒤에 곁에 서 있던 자들이 다시 베드로에게 이르되, 너는 확실히 그들과 한 패라. 너는 갈릴리 사람이며 네 말투는 거기 말투와 일치하느니라, 하거늘

And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art [one] of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth [thereto].

71. 그가 저주하며 맹세하기 시작하여 이르되, 나는 너희가 말하는 이 사람을 알지 못하노라, 하니

But he began to curse and to swear, [saying], I know not this man of whom ye speak.

72. 수탉이 두 번째 울더라. 베드로가 예수님께서 자기에게 하신 말씀 곧 수탉이 두 번 울기 전에 네가 나를 세 번 부인하리라 하신 말씀을 기억하고 그것을 생각하며 슬프게 우니라.

And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
