Laser Cosmos Brings The Universe Into Your Room
Just occasionally a product comes along that simply blows us away. We get to see a lot of crazy and sometimes brilliant inventions, but Laser Cosmos is without a doubt the most superb one we've seen. There is no product out there that comes even close to the sheer excellence of this galactic wonder - sorry to sound quite so effusive, but really, it's staggering.
Imagine lying in your room, and having the ceiling whipped away to reveal the vast outreaches of the cosmos whirling overhead, complete with misty blue nebulae (which you can turn on and off!) and the occasional shooting star. Fully adjustable and requiring no set up, this super powerful space projector scatters a random panoply of sparkling green stars that will fill any room from the tiniest bedroom to the largest warehouse with a crystal clear animated star display. What's so clever about this (apart from everything of course) is that it seems so three-dimensional, the varying brightness of different stars makes some seem close and others to come from distant galaxies.
Created from powerful green laser and holographic technology, a display this bright and clear has never been available before. It's utterly mesmerising, and had us transfixed for hours (literally). Whether you're zoning out to music, throwing a party or just chilling, this stunning cosmic light show is like nothing we've ever seen before. Truly one of the most amazing light shows you will see anywhere.
Maple Phone Developed By Yoon And Lee
Transforming a popular product into a wooden version is a bizarre development, but the cell phone has just undergone such treatment. The Maple Phone has been developed by two Koreans, Hyun Jin Yoon and Eun Hak Lee as they prove that phones do not need to follow the same trend of plastic products. The wooden phone exhibits a touch sensitive keypad and also a camera. For the touchpad to work correctly, we believe that some different materials are used, as this would be impossible based on wood alone. The phone is great from an environmental perspective, since wood is a natural source and completely renewable. Perhaps this will pave the way for future wooden products, for example wooden MP3 players, wooden laptops, wooden televisions etc.
The wooden phone does not look particularly appealing, and will no doubt be heavier than the traditional plastic. At the moment, it looks like a block of wood with some numbers and stickers placed on the front. Nevertheless it would be great to get our hands on one and compare it with a more conventional plastic cell phone.
Barking Dog Home Protection System
There is no better alarm system than a vicious dog barking ferociously at the prowler's awaiting entry point, but the primary disadvantage with this protection method is the incessant cleaning up, albeit with the aid of a pooper scooper.
Now you can have the best of both world; a barking protection system which leaves no mess (from the dog anyway, the intruder may mess himself). This invention is called an Alarm Security Bar which adds instant protection to any home without the need for expensive installation and monitoring. The alarm noise is sounded whenever the door knob is touched or door is pushed, so the alarm is designed to be set off under the slightest of pressures.
The alarm can either be set to a powerful siren or the alternative barking alarm sound. The Security Bar is currently available for £29.95, an inexpensive alternative to a real animal, and potentially just as effective, despite its bark being significantly worse than its bite.
USB Powered Necktie Fan Stay Cool Under Pressure
USB's are commonly used in the modern world and variations continue to emerge, revealing new interesting concepts and means of portable data use. The latest USB accessory comes in the form of a tie, suited towards those who feel the heat around their neck whilst sporting a tie. Limited market we believe, nonetheless invention company Thanko have manufactured the idea in Japan, named the USB Powered Necktie Fan. Nice and catchy title they have there, and it does do exactly as the name suggests. The USB powers a small fan built into the knot of the tie to keep you cool, in at least one sense of the word.
The tie's portability is restricted to the length of the USB cable, which may be only several feet, meaning that if you're next to a window you might as well just open that, or buy a small fan to place on your desk.
The necktie fan looks rather odd and is restricted in length, so we can't really see the appeal in this at all. At $24.90 the money would be better spent on buying a small desk fan, but you have to admire the Japanese company's efforts, as they continue to materialize unusual gadgetry.
Led Umbrella
Introducing the new LED umbrella. This new device comes equipped with a built in LED light which illuminates in the dark. At the touch of a button the light shines into action offering a safe and secure passage to your destination. The light is embedded inside the handle to lighten the area under the umbrella hood.
Come day or night, this gadget has got you covered despite looking like a Star Wars light saber.
So for those of you who can't handle a long walk home in the dark, this LED umbrella is sure to make that walk a little bit brighter.

Topic 2> Japan expected to repeat territorial claims over Dokdo in diplomatic report
Japan was expected to repeat its territorial claims over South Korea's easternmost islets of Dokdo in its annual diplomatic report, sources said Friday, just two days after Tokyo approved a series of textbooks claiming the islets as its territory.
Japan's Cabinet planned to approve the "Diplomatic Blue Paper" report for 2011 that was expected to carry the same territorial descriptions of Dokdo as its previous version, the sources said.
Last year's report also said Japan is trying to promote its position through pamphlets while repeatedly delivering the stance to South Korea and that the country will make persistent efforts to bring a peaceful resolution to the issue.
South Korea is expected to summon a diplomatic minister at Japan's embassy in Seoul to file an official protest, officials said.
Japan first mentioned the Dokdo claims in the diplomatic report in 1963 and has since carried the claims in the book on an irregular basis without putting them in the reports issued in 1967-1970, 1988-1989, 1993-1996, 1998-1999, 2002 and 2007.
The move came after Tokyo licensed a dozen middle school textbooks Wednesday with enhanced claims over the islets compared with the previous versions of the texts. The number of textbooks claiming South Korea is "illegally occupying" Dokdo rose from one to four.
South Korea strongly protested the move and urged Japan to scrap the decision.
Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan immediately called in Japanese Ambassador Masatoshi Muto and lodged complaints. On Friday, Seoul's ambassador to Tokyo Kwon Chul-hyun was to make a protest visit to Japanese Foreign Minister Takeaki Matsumoto.
The series of Japanese moves came at a time when South Koreans have been pouring out sympathy and support for the former colonial ruler suffering from a devastating earthquake and tsunami.
But South Korea says humanitarian assistance is a different matter from the textbook issue.
Japan's claims over the islets have long been a thorn in relations between Seoul and Tokyo.
South Korea rejects the claims as nonsense because the country regained independence from Japan's 35-year colonial rule in 1945 and reclaimed sovereignty over its territory, including Dokdo and many other islands around the Korean Peninsula.
Since 1954, South Korea has stationed a small police detachment on Dokdo
