너희 중에 누구든지 크게 되고 싶은 이는 남을 섬기는 이가 되어야 학고,

마태복음 20:26 - 27

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.

신중한 계획으로 성실하게 일하면 부유해지고 조급하게 굴면 가난해진다.

잠언 21:5

Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.

쉽게 모은 재산은 점점 줄어들지만, 힘들여 모은 재산은 점점 늘어간다.

잠언 13:11

The heart of the wise inclines to the right,

but the heart of the fool to the left.

지혜로운 자의 마음은 올바른 일을 하는 쪽으로 기울어지지만

어리석은 자의 마음은 악을 행하는 쪽으로 기울어진다.

전도서 10:2

The way of a fool seems right to him,

but a wise man listens to advice.

어리석은 이는 자신의 행동이 옳은 줄로 생각하지만,

지혜로운 사람은 남의 충고를 듣는다.

잠언 12:15

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much,

and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

작은 일에 성실한 사람은 큰 일에도 성실하고,

작은 일에 정직하지 못한 사람은 큰 일에도 정직하지 못하다.

누가복음 16:10

A kind man benefits himself,

but a cruel man brings trouble on himself.

친절한 사람은 자신에게 유익을 끼치고,

잔인한 사람은 자신에게 해를 끼친다.

잠언 11:17

Say to wisdom, "You are my sister." and call understanding your kinsman.

지혜를 네 누이처럼 생각하고 가까운 친구처럼 여거라.

잠언 7:4

The sluggard says, "There is a lion in the road, a fierce lion roaming the streets!"

게으른 사람은  길거리에 사자가 있다 하면서 일하러 가지 않는다.

잠언 26:13

The sluggard's craving will be the death of him,

because his hands refuse to work.

일하기를 싫어하는 게으른 자에게는 욕심, 바로 그것이 죽음이다.

잠언 21:25

Better a patient man than a warrior,

a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.

좀처럼 화를 내지 않는 사람은 용사보다 나으며,

자기를 다스릴 줄 아는 자는 도시를 정복하는 사람보다 낫다.

잠언 16:32

A friend loves at all times,

and a brother is born for adversity.

변함없이 서로 사랑하는 이가 친구이며

위급할 때 서로 돕는 이가 형제이다.

잠언 17:17

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might,

for in the grave, where you are going,

there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

무슨 일을 하든지 최선을 다하라.

네가 앞으로 들어갈 무덤에는

일도, 계획도, 지식도, 지혜도 없다.

전도서 9:10

Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise,

making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

어찌 살아야 할 것인지를 조심스레 살피고

지혜없는 사람이 아닌 지혜 있는 사람처럼 시간을 아끼십시오.

왜냐하면, 이 시대는 악하기 때문입니다.

에베소서 5:15-16

Everything is possible for him who believes.

믿는 사람은 무엇이든지 할 수 있다.

마가복음 9:23

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders,

make the most of every opportunity.

믿지 않는 사람들을 대할 때는 지혜롭게 행동하고 기회를 최대한 이용하십시오.

골로새서 4:5

Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

인내는 분명 일을 끝마치게 해 줄 것이며, 너는 부족함이 없는 완전하고 성숙한 사람이 될 것이다.

야고보서 1:4

Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged,

and withe the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

너희가 판단을 받지 않으려거든 남을 판단하지 말아라.

너희가 남을 판단하는 것처럼 너희도 판단받을 것이며

남을 저울질하는 것만큼 너희도 저울질당할 것이다.

마태복음 7:1-2

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else,

for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself,

because you who pass judgment do the same things.

남을 판단하고 있는 여러분은 죄인이 아니라고 변명할 수 없습니다.

왜냐하면, 여러분도 그들과 같은 일을 하고 있기 때문입니다.

로마서 2:1

Kings take pleasure in honest lips, they value a man who speaks the truth.

왕은 진실한 말을 듣고 싶어하며 정직하게 말하는 자를 사랑한다.

잠언 16:13

Whoever loves money never has money enough,

whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income.

This too is meaningless.

돈을 사랑하는 이는 그 돈으로 만족을 얻지 못하고,

부유함을 사랑하는 자는 그의 수입으로 만족을 얻지 못한다.

이 또한 헛된 게 아니고 무엇이겠는가.

전도서 5:10

The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

게으른 자는 원하는 것이 있어도 얻지 못하지만,

부지런한 이 는 원하는 것을 풍족하게 얻는다.

잠언 13:4

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

믿음은 우리가 바라는 것들에 대한 실물이며,

보이지 않는 것들에 대한 증거다.

히브리서 11:1

Let us not become veary in doing good,

for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

선한 일을 하다가 낙심하지 맙시다,

포기하지 않는다면 반드시 거둘 때가 올 것입니다.

갈라디아서 6:9

A cheerful heart is good medicine,

but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

마음의 즐거움은 좋은 약이 되지만,

마음의 근심은 뼈를 마르게 한다.

잠언 17:22

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest - and

poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.

조금만 더 자고, 조금만 더 졸고, 조금만 더 손을 모으고 쉬려는 이에게는

가난이 강도처럼 갑자기 밀어닥치고 빈곤이 군사처럼 몰려올 것이다.

잠언 24:33-34

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

친절한 말은 꿀송이와 같아서 마음을 흐뭇하게 해 주고 건강하게 해 준다.

잠언 16:24

Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

손을 게을리 하는 자는 가난하게 되고,

손을 부지런히 하는 자는 부유해지게 된다.

잠언 10:4

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,

for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own.

그러므로 내일 일을 걱정하지 말아라.

내일 일은 내일 걱정할 것이다.

한 날의 괴로움은 그 날의 것으로 충분하다.

마테복음 6:34

Stand at the crossroads and look, ask for the ancient paths,

ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.

길거리에 서서 바라보라.

옛날에 걷던 선한 길이 어느 길인지 알아보고 그 길로 걸어가라.

그러면 너는 마음의 안식을 찾을 것이다.

예레미아 6:16

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young,

but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

그대가 젊다는 이유로 아무도 그대를 업신여기지 못하게 하고

말과 행동과 사랑과 믿음과 순결로 믿는 이들에게 모범을 보이십시오.

디모데전서 4:12

How much better to get wisdom then gold,

to choose understanding rater than silver.

지혜를 얻는 것은 금을 얻는 것보다 낫고,

지식을 얻는 것은 은을 얻는 것보다 낫다.

잠언 16:16

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have.

돈을 사랑하지 말고 가진 것으로 만족하십시오.

히브리서 13:5

For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds;

and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

누구든지 구하는 이는 받을 것이고 찾는 이는 찾을 것이며 두드리는 이에게는 열릴 것이다.

마태복음 7:8

The wise man has eyes in his head, while the fool walks in the darkness.

지혜로운 사람에게는 머리에 눈이 있으나

어리석은 사람은 어두움 속을 다니고 있다.

전도서 2:14

The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns,

but the path of the upright is a highway.

게으른 자의 길은 가시밭이지만,

정직한 자의 길은 고속도로이다.

잠언 15:19

One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys.

자신의 일을 게을리하는 사람은 패망하는 자의 형제이다.

잠언 18:9

Be self-controlled and alert!.

Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

바짝 정신을 차리고 철저하게 경계하십시오.

여러분의 원수인 마귀가 울부짖는 사자처럼 삼킬 자를 찾아 돌아다니고 있습니다.

베드로전서 5:8

For whoever exalts himself will be humbled,

and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

누구든지 자기를 높이는 사람은 낮아지고

낮추는 사람은 높아질 것이다.

마테복음 23:12

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established,

through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.

집은 지혜를 기초로 지어지고 총명으로 견고하지며

그 방들은 지식을 통해서 여러 가지의 진귀하고 아름다운 보물들이 채워진다.

잠언 24:3-4

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

말씀을 듣기만 하여 자신을 속이지 말고 말씀을 실천하는 사람이 되십시오.
