Good morning everyone.  I hope you are all doing well.  Spring will be here soon. The Old Testament reading for our Sunday worship service is Joshua 24:14-15 and the New Testament reading is 2 Timothy 3:16-17. The text for my sermon is Job 42:1-17 and the title of my sermon is “Job’s Confession and God’s Response”.  English vocabulary for my sermon: thwart(ed), obscure, counsel, despise, dust, ashes, according, folly, prosperous, console(d), latter, yoke (of ox), donkey, granted, and inheritance. 이번 주 주일 예배의 구약 성경 봉독은 여호수아 24:14-15이며,

신약 성경 봉독은 디모데후서 3:16-17입니다.

여호수아 24장14~15절

Joshua 24:14-15

14. ○그러므로 이제는 여호와를 경외하며 온전함과 진실함으로 그를 섬기라 너희의 조상들이 강 저쪽과 애굽에서 섬기던 신들을 치워 버리고 여호와만 섬기라

“Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.

15. 만일 여호와를 섬기는 것이 너희에게 좋지 않게 보이거든 너희 조상들이 강 저쪽에서 섬기던 신들이든지 또는 너희가 거주하는 땅에 있는 아모리 족속의 신들이든지 너희가 섬길 자를 오늘 택하라 오직 나와 내 집은 여호와를 섬기겠노라 하니

But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

디모데후서 3장16~17절

2 Timothy 3:16-17

16. 모든 성경은 하나님의 감동으로 된 것으로 교훈과 책망과 바르게 함과 의로 교육하기에 유익하니

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

17. 이는 하나님의 사람으로 온전하게 하며 모든 선한 일을 행할 능력을 갖추게 하려 함이라

so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

욥기 42장

Job 42:1-17 

1. 욥이 여호와께 대답하여 이르되

Then Job replied to the LORD:

2. 주께서는 못 하실 일이 없사오며 무슨 계획이든지 못 이루실 것이 없는 줄 아오니

“I know that you can do all things;

no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

3. 무지한 말로 이치를 가리는 자가 누구니이까 나는 깨닫지도 못한 일을 말하였고 스스로 알 수도 없고 헤아리기도 어려운 일을 말하였나이다

You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’

Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,

things too wonderful for me to know.

4. 내가 말하겠사오니 주는 들으시고 내가 주께 묻겠사오니 주여 내게 알게 하옵소서

“You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;

I will question you,

and you shall answer me.’

5. 내가 주께 대하여 귀로 듣기만 하였사오나 이제는 눈으로 주를 뵈옵나이다

My ears had heard of you

but now my eyes have seen you.

6. 그러므로 내가 스스로 거두어들이고 티끌과 재 가운데에서 회개하나이다

Therefore I despise myself

and repent in dust and ashes.”

7. ○여호와께서 욥에게 이 말씀을 하신 후에 여호와께서 데만 사람 엘리바스에게 이르시되 내가 너와 네 두 친구에게 노하나니 이는 너희가 나를 가리켜 말한 것이 내 종 욥의 말 같이 옳지 못함이니라

After the LORD had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.

8. 그런즉 너희는 수소 일곱과 숫양 일곱을 가지고 내 종 욥에게 가서 너희를 위하여 번제를 드리라 내 종 욥이 너희를 위하여 기도할 것인즉 내가 그를 기쁘게 받으리니 너희가 우매한 만큼 너희에게 갚지 아니하리라 이는 너희가 나를 가리켜 말한 것이 내 종 욥의 말 같이 옳지 못함이라

So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”

9. 이에 데만 사람 엘리바스와 수아 사람 빌닷과 나아마 사람 소발이 가서 여호와께서 자기들에게 명령하신 대로 행하니라 여호와께서 욥을 기쁘게 받으셨더라

So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite did what the LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Jobʼs prayer.

10. ○욥이 그의 친구들을 위하여 기도할 때 여호와께서 욥의 곤경을 돌이키시고 여호와께서 욥에게 이전 모든 소유보다 갑절이나 주신지라

After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.

11. 이에 그의 모든 형제와 자매와 이전에 알던 이들이 다 와서 그의 집에서 그와 함께 음식을 먹고 여호와께서 그에게 내리신 모든 재앙에 관하여 그를 위하여 슬퍼하며 위로하고 각각 케쉬타 하나씩과 금 고리 하나씩을 주었더라

All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the LORD had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring.

12. 여호와께서 욥의 말년에 욥에게 처음보다 더 복을 주시니 그가 양 만 사천과 낙타 육천과 소 천 겨리와 암나귀 천을 두었고

The LORD blessed the latter part of Jobʼs life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys.

13. 또 아들 일곱과 딸 셋을 두었으며

And he also had seven sons and three daughters.

14. 그가 첫째 딸은 여미마라 이름하였고 둘째 딸은 긋시아라 이름하였고 셋째 딸은 게렌합북이라 이름하였으니

The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah and the third Keren-Happuch.

15. 모든 땅에서 욥의 딸들처럼 아리따운 여자가 없었더라 그들의 아버지가 그들에게 그들의 오라비들처럼 기업을 주었더라

Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Jobʼs daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.

16. 그 후에 욥이 백사십 년을 살며 아들과 손자 사 대를 보았고

After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.

17. 욥이 늙어 나이가 차서 죽었더라

And so Job died, an old man and full of years.
