이제 내가 알았도다 (출 18:1~12) Now I know.

참된 깨달음 (Now I know!)

1. 응답에 의존하는 신앙(heard about everything) v.1

- 생사화복에 얽매이는 신앙, 원하는 바가 이루어지지 않으면 의심과 실족이 되며 트러블 메이커가 된다. 고난이나 어려움이 닥치지 않으면 전심으로 찾아오지 않는 대다수 신앙. 이 신앙의 장점은 고난을 통해 하나님을 알아가는 첫걸음을 떼게 되며 하나님을 향한 깊은 갈망의 자리로 나아갈 가능성을 가지게 된다. 문제의 해결은 하나님에 대한 인식과 신뢰의 문을 여는 방편, 문제 해결과 동시에 흥미를 잃는 경우 고난과 구원의 반복-사사기-이 일어남. 자신을 알리고 싶으신 하나님과 관심없는 백성들의 줄다리기.

2. 원리를 아는 신앙 (Now I know) v.11

- 신앙의 원리와 법칙을 알아가는 신앙, 아는 만큼 반응하고 아는 즐거움과 지혜에 대한 갈망이 생기는 시기, 그러나 그 지혜와 권능을 얻고자하여 하나님을 수단시하는 상태, 내가 우선이고 하나님이 그 다음이고 -필요하니까- 이웃은 뒷전인 아이같은 상태. 예수의 이름으로 가르치고 능력과 기적을 행하나 내가 너희를 알지 못하노라라는 평을 듣는 상황, 이것이 열매없는 신앙, 능력과 지혜가 부어지지만 내면화가 되지 않아서 통로로 사용되나 하나님과의 개인적인 친밀감과 깊은 평화를 누리지 못하는 상황.

3. 감사의 자리에 나아가는 신앙 (burnt offering) v.12

- 구원에 대한 감사와 하나님의 사랑을 깨닫기 시작하며 기계적인 구원관에서 유기적이고 관계 중심의 구원으로 전환되는 시기. 자신의 죄와 허물을 깨닫고 죄책감과 두려움대신 은혜와 감사로 반응하는 태도를 지닌다. 사랑과 감사는 은혜에 대한 반응으로 나타나며 시선이 자신의 내부에서 은혜를 베푸시는 하나님께로 향하는 시기, 욥이 자신의 결백을 주장하다가 하나님의 영광을 보고 시선의 변화를 가진 것 처럼 나의 무엇이 아니라 하나님 자신에 대한 경외와 사랑이 깊어지는 시기.

* 아는 자들의 실패 :

- 이 세대에 지혜자가 어디 있느냐(내가 올 때에 믿음을 보겠느냐) [고전1:21,눅18:8]

이 세상은 그 지혜로 하나님을 알지 못하였습니다. 하나님의 지혜가 그렇게 되도록 한 것입니다. 하나님께서는 어리석게 들리는 설교를 통하여 믿는 사람들을 구원하시기를 기뻐하신 것입니다.(고전1:21)

- 알고도 경배하지 않음이라(마음의 방향이 떠나있는 사람) [롬1:21]

사람들은 하나님을 알면서도, 하나님을 하나님으로 영화롭게 해드리거나 감사를 드리기는 커녕, 오히려 생각이 허망해져서, 그들의 지각없는 마음이 어둠으로 가득차게 되었습니다(롬1:21)

발람 - 하나님을 알고 두려워했으나 이스라엘의 타락을 주도함
율법사들 - 왕이 나실 곳을 알았으나 경배하러 가지 않음
동방박사들 - 경배하고 예물을 바치나 일회성 이벤트로 마무리
헤롯, 사울 - 왕이 태어나고 기름부어짐을 알면서도 죽이려고 시도
가인 - 경배자(예배자)에 대한 적개심(시기) : 자신도 예배의 자리로 나오는 것이 아니라
제거함으로 자신의 의를 보존하려는 시도.(빌라도 : 시기로 넘겨준 줄 앎이라)

* 사랑하는 자의 유익

사랑은 갈망을 동반 : 사랑과 열정이 합해진 상태는 자유의 상태
사랑하는 자를 위한 모든 시도는 아버지 뜻에 합하며 아름다움
원하는 대로 구하라 그리하면 이루리라 = 사랑안에 두려움이 없나니

ㅇ 앎(관계)은 사랑으로 인도하는 길잡이(guide)
사랑으로 인도받은 자는 신뢰와 확신으로 fix됨
-은혜의 물결이 밀려올 때마다 신뢰의 모래가 쌓여 확신의 반석으로 굳어짐
신뢰=우정에서 확신=열정으로 변화되는 과정 - 시간이 필요함

ㅇ 정함 (devotion)
- 내 마음이 정하여 졌으니
하나님, 내 마음은 흔들림이 없습니다. 진실로, 내 마음은 확고합니다. (시57:7)
- 정함이 없이 밀려 요동하는 파도같은 이들
조금도 의심하지 말고, 믿고 구하십시오. 의심하는 사람은 마치, 바람에 밀려서 출렁이는 바다 물결과 같습니다(약1:6)

ㅇ 부어주시는 평화와 솟아나는 기쁨

빛은 의인에게 비치며, 마음이 정직한 사람에게는 즐거움이 샘처럼 솟을 것이다.(시97:11)
안식에 들어온 자의 특징 : 하늘의 물이 쏟아지고 땅의 샘이 솟아나 기쁨과 평화가 넘침

True Enlightenment (Now I know!)

1. Faith Dependent on Response
- A faith entangled with life, death, fortune, and misfortune. When desires are not fulfilled, doubt and stumbling arise, often becoming a source of trouble. Many only seek God wholeheartedly when hardship or difficulty comes.
- Strengths: Through suffering, one takes the first steps toward knowing God and may develop a deeper longing for Him. Problems become a means of opening the door to awareness and trust in God. Yet, when problems are solved, interest often fades, leading to cycles of suffering and salvation (as in Judges). This is the tug-of-war between God, who longs to reveal Himself, and people who remain indifferent.

2. Faith that Knows Principles
- A faith that learns the principles and laws of belief. As knowledge grows, so does response, joy, and desire for wisdom. Yet, in this stage, God is often treated as a means to gain wisdom and power. The self comes first, God second, and neighbors last—like a child’s mindset.
- Teaching and performing miracles in Jesus’ name may occur, but still hearing the words: “I never knew you.” This is fruitless faith. Power and wisdom are poured out, but without inner transformation, one becomes a mere channel, lacking personal intimacy and deep peace with God.

3. Faith that Moves into Gratitude
- A stage where one begins to grasp salvation with gratitude and recognize God’s love. Salvation shifts from a mechanical view to an organic, relational one.
- One acknowledges sin and shortcomings, responding not with guilt and fear but with grace and thanksgiving. Love and gratitude emerge as responses to grace, turning the gaze from self inward to God who bestows grace.
- Like Job, who once insisted on his innocence but, upon seeing God’s glory, experienced a shift in perspective—faith deepens into reverence and love for God Himself, not for what He gives.

Failures of the Knowing
- “Where is the wise person of this age? When I come, will I find faith?” (1 Cor. 1:21, Luke 18:8)
- The world did not know God through its wisdom. God chose what seems foolish—preaching—to save those who believe (1 Cor. 1:21).
- “Though they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him.” (Rom. 1:21)
- Their thinking became futile, and their hearts darkened.

Examples:
- Balaam – Knew and feared God but led Israel into corruption.
- Law experts – Knew where the King would be born but did not go to worship.
- Wise men from the East – Worshiped and offered gifts, but as a one-time event.
- Herod, Saul – Knew of the King’s birth and anointing, yet sought to kill Him.
- Cain – Held hostility toward worshipers instead of joining in worship, preserving his own righteousness by eliminating others. (Pilate: knew Jesus was handed over out of envy.)

Benefits of the Loving
- Love is accompanied by longing. Love joined with passion becomes freedom.
- Every attempt for the beloved aligns with the Father’s will and beauty.
- “Ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” Love casts out fear.

Knowledge (relationship) is a guide leading to love.
- Those led by love are fixed in trust and assurance.
- Each wave of grace builds trust like sand, solidifying into the rock of assurance.
- Trust evolves from friendship into passion—this takes time.

Steadfastness
- “My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast.” (Psalm 57:7)
- Without steadfastness, one is like a wave tossed by the wind.
- “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:6)

Peace and Joy Poured Out
- “Light shines on the righteous, and joy on the upright in heart.” (Psalm 97:11)
- Those who enter rest experience heaven’s waters pouring down and earth’s springs welling up—overflowing with joy and peace.
