General Outline - Instructor |
CASI offers four levels of instructor certification. Level 1 is
an entry level program designed to introduce prospective
snowboard instructors to the basic teaching and riding skills
used at the beginner, novice and intermediate levels of
riding. Level 2 focuses on teaching intermediate and
advanced riding skills. Level 3 focuses on more advanced
riding techniques, teaching and pedagogy skills. Level 4
focuses on expert riding techniques, sessioning and
advanced pedagogy skills.

Level 1
This is a 3-day, minimum 18 hour course. It covers the
teaching progression for introductory snowboarding. |

Level 2
This is a 4-day, minimum 24-hour course which introduces
the skill concept and progression for intermediate level
snowboarding. |
Prerequisites: |
CASI Level 1
18 years of age
Must be fluent in either English or
French
Ability to ride on advanced terrain
and carve controlled turns on
intermediate terrain.

Level 3
This is a 5 day course. It is dedicated to skills and the
teaching progression for advanced snowboarding, including
moguls and pedagogy. |
Prerequisites: |
CASI Level 2
successful completion of the Level 1
Freestyle coaching course
comfortable on all types of terrain.

Level 4
This is a 7 day course. It is dedicated to skills and the
teaching progression for expert snowboarding, advanced
pedagogy and extreme moguls. |
