일광 절약 시간을 위해 한 시간(서머타임)을 "앞으로 당긴" 다음 날인 오늘은 전국 낮잠의 날로 지정되었다. 낮잠의 건강상 이점과 수면의 중요성을 알리고자 1999년 보스턴 대학의 윌리엄 앤서니 교수와 그의 아내 카밀이 처음 제정했다. 이것은 또한 3월이 국가 수면 인식의 달로 지정된 것과 일치하고 3월 17일 금요일인 세계 수면의 날과 짝을 이룬다. 아래에는 다양한 위치에서 낮잠을 즐기는 졸린 사람과 동물의 이미지가 몇 장 있다.

Today, the day after “springing forward” an hour for daylight saving time, has been set aside as National Napping Day. The day was first established in 1999 by the Boston University professor William Anthony and his wife, Camille, who hoped to bring awareness to the health benefits of napping and the importance of sleep. This also coincides with March being designated as National Sleep Awareness Month, and pairs with Friday, March 17, which is World Sleep Day. Gathered below are a handful of images of snoozy people and animals enjoying the benefits of napping in various locations.

♧서머타임제(일광 절약 시간제)는 여름철 낮 시간이 긴 것을 이용해 법령으로 표준시를 원래 시간보다 1시간 앞당긴 시각을 사용하는 제도이다. 서머타임제는 18세기 후반 미국의 벤저민 프랭클린(Benjamin Franklin)이 고안해내고, 영국의 윌리엄 월릿(William Willett)이 적극 주장하였다.
