Love of My Life Queen Freddie Mercury http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECX9efQWOOc
Love of My Life is a ballad by the English rock band, Queen, from their 1975 album, A Night at the Opera. It was written by Freddie Mercury. He wrote it on the piano and guitar first, and then Brian May rearranged the song for acoustic 12-string guitar to facilitate live performance. Freddie Mercury was born on Sep.5, 1946 in Tanzania. He studied piano in boarding school in India and befriended numerous musicians at London’s Ealing College of Art. The music of Mercury’s band, Queen reached the top of the U.S and British charts. However, sad to say, Mercury died of AIDS-related bronchial pneumonia on Nov.24, 1991 at age 45. As the frontman of Queen, he was one of the most talented and innovative singers of the rock era. In addition to his talents as a singer and songwriter, he was also skilled showman. He knew how to entertain audiences and how to connect with them. For example, he liked to wear costumes − often featuring skintight spandex − and strutted around the stage, encouraging fans. Queen’s popularity continued to soar in the late 70s and early 80s. We Are the Champions (1978) became a Top 10 hit in the United States and in Britain. As a performer, he was a flamboyant stage person and powerful vocal over a four- octave range. Posthumously, in 1992 he was awarded A Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Aside from this award, there are some awards like this:
. 2001 (Rock Roll Hall of Fame) . 2004 (the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame) . 2002 (The band received a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.) . 2005 (He was voted the best male singer of all time.) . 2009 (He was elected the best rock singer of all time.), etc. Freddie Mercury has been voted one of the greatest singers in the history of popular music. ballad[bǽləd] 민요, 발라드(사랑을 노래한 느린 대중가요) a romantic or setimental song (for love) rearrange [rìːəréindʒ] 재 정리/배열하다 즉 rewrite의 의미 acoustic [əkúːstik] 음향의, <음악> (악기가 ) 앰프를 사용하지 않은; 그런 악기로 편곡된 facilitate [fəsílətèit] 용이하게 하다, 촉진하다 boarding school 기숙사 제도 학교 befriend 친구를 사귀다 died of ~(병으로) 죽다 cf. die from ~(사고로) 죽다 bronchial [brάŋkiəl] pneumonia[njumóunjə] 기관지염 폐렴 pneumo = lung 폐 frontman 대표, 선두자 즉 leader innovative[ínəvèitiv] 혁신적인, 독창적인, 획기적인 skilled 숙련된, 노련한 costume[kάstjuːm|kɔ́stjuːm] 의상 featuring skintight spandex [spǽndeks] 몸에 딱 달라 붙는 스판(덱스)으로 출연하는 strutted around the stage 무대 주위를 활보했다/뽑내며 걷다 strut[strʌt]/stride[straid] 활보하다 soar [sɔːr] 치솟다, 급등하다 to rise or fly high into the air flamboyant[flæmbɔ́iənt] 활활 타오르는, 눈부신, 화려한 flamelike or brilliant in form or color over a four- octave range 4옥타브 음역을 넘나드는 Posthumously[pάsʧuməsli] 사후에 outstanding Contribution 뛰어난/탁월한/괄목할 만한 공헌 aside from ~이외에 (except for; barring) of all time ① 역사상 최고의 ② 고금의 ③ 전무후무한 Hall of Fame 명예의 전당 a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame 할리우드 명예의 거리에 별
