안필준 연대장이 중위진급시 계급장을 달아주는 모습

꽃이 피면 곧 시들듯이 人生(인생)도 뜨면 곧 가라앉는다.

나의 그 時節(시절)이 겉으로는 華麗(화려)하여 處女(처녀)들이 벌떼처럼 몰려들었었다.

그녀들에게 몹씨 미안했고 香氣(향기) 없는 꽃아닌 꽃을 따르게 한 罪(죄)값으로

衆生濟度 天下事(중생제도 천하사)에 열심히 하여 갚고자 한다.

그러니 生徒時節 敎授法 實習時間 講議(생도시절 교수법 실습시간 강의)에서 나는 남자이지만

벌 나비와 같이 꽃을 찾아가지 않겠노라며 自然攝理(자연섭리)와 반하는 論理(논리)를 편바 있다.

男子(남자)인 내가 꽃이 되는 행세를 하였었다는 말이다.

運動選手(운동선수)들의 專盛期(전성기)는 三十代 初半(삼십대 초반)까지이다.

박 세리도, 박 찬호도, 이 승엽도 인기정상의 위치에서 이미 내려왔다. 손 흥민도 곧 내려온다.

靑春時節(청춘시절)은 花無 十日紅(화무 십일홍)과 같이 暫間(잠깐)이다.

先天亂世(선천난세)에서의 繁榮(번영)은 一瞬間(일순간)에 그친다라는 말씀이다.

人氣(인기)로 번영의 機會(기회)마져 얻지 못한 擧皆(거개)의 중생으로 살면서

自我陶醉(자아도취)에 빠진채 자존을 세우고 自己爲主(자기위주)로 살고자 하면

반드시 孤立無援之境(고립무원지경)에 處(처)해지므로 끝내는 滅(멸)하게 된다.

선천의 英雄 豪傑(영웅 호걸)은 短命(단명)하였다.

三國時節 孫權(삼국시절 손권)에게 健議(건의)하기를 劉備(유비)를 없애야만

천하를 二分(이분)하여 統治(통치)할 수 있다 라고 主張(주장)한 周愈(주유)는 36세에 夭折(요절)하였고

白頭山石 磨刀盡(백두산석 마도진) 이요, 豆滿江水 飮馬無(두만강수 음마무) 라

'男兒二十 未平國(남아이십 미평국)이면 後世誰稱 大丈夫(후세수칭 대장부)이랴' 라고 읊은

南怡 將軍(남이 장군)은 逆敵(역적)으로 몰려 30세도 살지 못하고 죽음을 맞았다.

헌데 器局(기국)도 되지 못하고 功德(공덕)도 쌓지 못한 주제에

나대면서 虛風(허풍)을 부리는 자들은 冥府使者(명부사자)가 몽땅 내려 올 때에 갈 곳 어디뫼뇨?

牧牛堂主(목우당주)의 生辰(생신)을 앞두고 자식 손자 17명이 모두 모여 宴會(연회)를 마련하여 점심먹는 날,

미국 대통령 트럼프의 생일날이라는 때에 미국 전역에서는 트럼프 대통령 反對示威(반대시위)가 벌어지고

이스라엘과 이란은 서로 攻擊(공격)을 하며 中動戰(중동전)의 危機(위기)로 몰아감에

世界(세계)가 至極(지극)히 어수선(세계3차대전운)한 시국이건만 철없이 편안히 밥먹는 사람이 많다.

다만 걱정 많은 牧牛堂主(목우당주)는 生日 宴會(생일 연회)에서도 편치 않고

마지막 先天運(선천운)을 論(논)하노니 智覺(지각)있는 이들은 警戒(경계)할 지어다. 라고 號訴(호소)한다.

연회식대가 33만원이 나왔다는데 三遷成道(삼천성도)의 三十三天度數(삼십삼천도수)이구나.

나는 한동안 예수에 첫사랑에 빠진 대한민국 땅에

24세이던 크리스마스 전날은 少尉 臨官式(소위 임관식)을 치루었으니

25세부터 軍生活(군생활)의 時作點(시작점)이 되다.

坡州郡 坡坪面 長坡里(파주군 파평면 장파리)의 리비교를 건너 지오피 연대본부 인사과에 들어가니

兵長(병장)이 와서 人事(인사)하고는 내 따블빽을 들고 나가면서 따라 나오시란다.

聯隊 通信隊 書務兵(연대 통신대 서무병)이었다.

1사단 12연대 通信隊 輔佐官(통신대 보좌관)에 補職(보직)되었던 것이다.

브리핑 보도판이 여러매가 세워져 있는 사무실이 먼저 눈에 들어왔었다.

通信線 埋設工事 進度 現況報告板(통신선 매설공사 진도 현황보고판) 이었다.

行政力(행정력)을 첫 임지에서부터 배우게 되다.

연대 통신대장이 공사현장을 나다니며 오후 결산시간이 되면

공백의 통신대장 보좌관인 내가 브리핑을 했으니 소위때부터 연대장과 마주하였고

日課 決算時間(일과 결산시간)의 業務報告(업무보고)도 하며 少領 聯隊參謀(소령 연대참모)들과 함께 자리 하였다.

당시 연대장은 뒷날 四星將軍(사성장군)으로 전역해서 保社部長官(보사부장관)에 오른 안 필준 대령이었다.

聯隊 通信隊 補佐官 職(연대 통신대 보좐관 직)은

本來 通信裝備專門(본래 통신장비전문)인 準尉(준위)가 맡는 자리이다.

통신대는 장비들이 많아 관리를 하는 전문직이 준위이었다.

半年(반년)만에 本來 少尉 職責(본래 소위 직책)인 12연대 1대대 通信隊長(통신대장)으로 보직받게 되었다.

당시에는 미군들이 板門店(판문점)을 擔當(담당)하고 있었고 JSA라 불렀다.

JSA란 板門店 共同區域(판문점 공동구역)이라는 뜻이다.

말이 유엔군이지 실제는 未軍(미군)이 맡았었다. 지금은 그 미군도 없다.

本來(본래) 1사단 지역은 미군들이 한국군의 지원속에 함께 맡은 地域(지역)이었고

따라서 前方 鐵柵線(전방 철책선)에 地上(지상)레이다가 設置(설치)되어 있었다.

군사용어로 敵 侵鬪豫想路 最適地(적 침투예상로 최적지)의 일번지이기 때문이다.

서울도 北韓(북한)에서 가장 가깝다.

대한민국이 세계에서 가장 위험한 戰爭中 休戰狀態(전쟁중 휴전상태)의 나라이다.

이 地域(지역)을 擔當(담당)하는 部隊(부대)가 12연대 1대대이다.

白鶴高地(백학 고지)에서 판문점이 눈아래로 내려다 보인다.

도끼 만행사건이 발발하여 한 때 戰運(전운)이 감돌던 때에

나는 山上高地(산상고지)에서 그 때의 판문점 상황을 내려다 보았었다.

臨津閣 自由(임진각 자유)의 다리를 通過(통과)해서 부대를 출입했다. 자유의 마을이 있는 곳이다.

대대 통신대장으로 移職(이직)되어 임관한지 일년만에 中尉(중위)에 進級(진급)하게 되었기로

聯隊長室(연대장실)에서 계급장 수여식에 참석하였다.

4명인지 5명인지 기억은 뚜렷치 않지만 안 필준 연대장이 中尉 階級章(중위 계급장)을 달아주었다.

군 간부의 진급은 대통령의 권한이고 대통령을 대신해서 사단장이 계급장을 달아준다.

그러나 나는 GOP부대 근무로 사정상 연대장이 사단장 대신 달아주었던 것이다.

헌데 연대장이 내 階級章(계급장)을 달아주면서 '어 ! 너 글씨 잘 쓰더라.

다른 사람에게도 글씨 잘 쓴다는 말 많이 들었지?' 라 묻는다.

하여 '아닙니다' 라 답하였더니 '내가 보기에는 ᆢ ' 라며 의아하게 여긴다.

글씨의 칭찬이 나온 것은 사연이 있다.

연대장 臨期(임기)가 끝날 즈음이 되자 안 필준 연대장은 12연대의 전 간부들에게 지시를 내렸다.

내가 만약 연대장이었다면 부대운영을 이렇게 했겠다 라는 내용의 글을 써서 提出(제출)하라는 指示(지시)었다.

나는 이제 통신장교로 臨(임)하여 軍生活 年輪(군생활 연륜)도 없고 하여

보고 드릴만한 案件(안건)이 별로 없습니다 라는 내용을

정성껏 쓰겠다는 誠意(성의)의 표시로써 毛筆(모필)글씨를 썼던 것인데

그 붓글씨가 특별하였을 것이기에 내 이름을 기억하게 되었던 것이다.

연대 장교의 수를 따져보면 연대 참모는 작전주임 외 수명, 정보주임 외 수명, 인사주임 외에 수명,

군수주임외 수명, 각 대대에 대대장외 역시 같은 과의 課長(과장)에 교육장교외

각 과장들과 각 중대의 中隊長 小隊長(중대장 소대장) 들이 있으니

三個大隊(삼개대대)를 모두 合(합)하면 6ㆍ70명에게서 받았을 것인데

그 가운데에서 唯一(유일)하게 毛筆(모필) 글씨이었을 것이니

記憶力(기억력) 머리 좋은 연대장이 모를리 없었겠다 싶다.

大隊位置(대대위치)가 교대되었고

처음 부임해온 대대장이 參謀會議(참모회의) 첫 發言(발언)이 통신대장 稱讚(칭찬)이었다.

部隊入口(부대입구)를 들어오며 보니 通信線 整理(통신선 정리)가 깔끔하게 아주 잘 되어져 있더라면서

통신대장이 일을 잘 하고 있다는 칭찬이었다.

헌데 하루는 대대장이 근심거리를 안고 며칠동안 걱정을 태산같이 하고 있었음을 알았다.

하여 單獨(단독)으로 대대장실에 들어가 무슨 걱정거리가 있으시냐 質問(질문)하였더니

師團 幹部敎育 敎官任務(사단 간부교육 교관임무)를 받았는데

교안과 교육챠트를 한자로 쓰라하여 大隊毛筆兵(대대모필병)은 한글 밖에 쓸 줄 모른다 하니 큰 일이라는 대답이다.

해서 '제가 국민학교 육학년시절 조부께 신문지에 쳇줄 받아 한자 붓글씨를 써본 일이 있는데

그 實力(실력)으로 한번 써 볼까요?' 하였더니 시답지 않게 생각한듯 힘없이 '그래? 한 번 써봐라' 하여

옛 생각으로 돌아가 한글로 쓴 챠트 내용 글씨를 한자로 바꾸어 썼더니

대대장이 눈을 크게 뜨며 '통신대장이 한문 붓글씨를 아주 잘 쓰는구나' 라며 반기어 줌에

챠트 글씨를 모두 다 썼고 그 챠트로써 師團 幹部敎育 敎材(사단 간부교육 교재)로 사용하였기에

그 기회로 하여 한문 붓글씨 잘 쓴다는 소문이 돌았다.

그 무렵 나는 休家(휴가)를 얻어 故鄕(고향)에 다녀오게 되었다.

그리고 귀대하는 길, 고향역 간치에서 아침 열차를 타고 向京中(향경중)인데 기억이 희미하여

禮山驛(예산역)인지 삽교역인지 확실치는 않지만

洗鍊迷(세련미) 있는 여성이 내가 앉은 앞 정면에 서서 요지부동으로 이동하지도 않은채 서울역까지 서 있었다.

그리고는 서로가 말을 붙여 對話(대화)가 오갔다.

그 시절의 장항선 완행열차는 양편 창가로에만 외줄로 의자가 놓여있어

거의 서서 가야 하는 客車構造(객차구조)이었기로 앉은 정면으로 서면 마주대하게 되어 있었다.

그녀는 처음부터 나를 마음에 두고 있었던 것이다.

허니 前方(전방)의 내가 근무하는 부대 앞까지 따라왔다.

결국 그녀에게 붙잡혀 歸隊(귀대)를 못하게 되었다. 나의 첫 여자이다.

인사과장에게 전화하여 다음날 귀대하겠다 보고 하고

문산에서 방을 급히 구하여 동거하며 지내게 되었던 것이다.

그러나 지오피 부대에서 자주 外泊(외박)하는 것은 不可(불가)하였기로

그녀는 고향집에 가 있겠다며 시골로 내려갔다.

뒤에 생각해 보니 財物(재물)을 貪(탐)했던 것이었음을 알게 되다.

시골에 재산이 얼마나 있는지 把握(파악)하러 내려갔던 것으로 보인다.

그러다가 별 재산이 없음을 알고 떠나버렸는데 일년 쯤 뒤에 다시왔기로 돌려 보내었다.

돌려 보낼만한 명분이 있었던 것이다.

그녀가 그렇게 간 다음 얼마 있다가 어떤 남자가 내게 面會(면회)왔었다.

그 여자에 대해 물었고 본인의 전 여자로 살았는데

그 여자가 詐欺(사기)를 치고 도망했다는 사실을 내게 告白(고백)했던 것이다.

그러한 사실을 말하니 그녀는 말없이 조용히 떠났다.

내게 접근한 목적이 있었다는 생각에 괘씸한 마음도 없지 않았다.

順眞(순진)하다 보니 별 일도 다 經驗(경험)하며 世上物情(세상물정)을 배우게 된셈이다.

나는 四株八字(사주팔자)에 三妻運(삼처운)이 있음을 道工夫 以後(도공부 이후)에야 알았다.

그녀가 첫 女子(여자)라 생각하게 되었다.

나는 지오피 勤務福(근무복)이 많았었나 보다.

지오피 부대와 훼바부대가 교대를 했는데도 우리 部隊(부대)만큼은 지오피안에 머물게 되었다.

다만 鐵柵線部隊(철책선부대)는 아니었다. 중요한 지역이라는 이유 때문이다.

이 때에 연대 체육대회가 개최되었다. 비가 와서 운동장이 물기가 있었다.

四個 部隊別 試合(사개 부대별 시합)이었는데 체육대회 끝날 무렵까지

우리 大隊(대대)가 꼴지 成積(성적)이었고

마지막 競技種目(경기종목) 한 가지만 남겨두었으며 階級別 繼走(계급별 계주)이었다.

이등병이 출발하여 일병, 상병, 병장, 하사, 중사, 상사, 소위, 중위, 대위까지 이어달리기이었다.

본래는 대대자체의 중위들을 겨루게 하여 1위를 한 소대장이 선발되었다.

헌데 대대장에게 중위는 내가 뛰겠다고 자진하여 나섰다.

四等(사등)가는 바톤을 받아 코너에서는 操心(조심)히 뛰다가

直線(직선)코스에서 모두 追越(추월)하여 一等(일등)으로 大尉(대위)에게 바톤을 넘겼다.

2위인 타부대의 대위선수가 물기있는 코너에서 추월하려다가 미끄덩 하여

극적으로 우리 대대가 一位(일위)를 하게 되었고

이 계급별 계주 점수가 제일 높았기에 최종점수로도 일등으로 올라서게 되었다.

그렇게 되니 壇上(단상)에 앉아 있던 大隊長(대대장)이 운동장으로 뛰어내려와서는

여러선수들 가운데에서 나에게만 다가와 끌어안고 좋아하였던 기억이다.

회식자리를 마련하여 自祝(자축)할 때 나는 술은 먹지 않았으나

노래 할 자리에서는 回避(회피) 할 수도 없어 軍隊(군대) 들어오기 전에 연습했던 노래를 불러서 인기를 얻다.

하루는 대대에서 자체 체육대회가 있었다.

나는 본부중대 소속이라 배구를 하는데 본부중대가 실력이 뒤지므로

내가 병사 한 명을 除外(제외)시키고 排球 攻擊手(배구 공격수)가 되어 뛰기도 했었다.

蹴球(축구)도 직접 병사들과 뛰었다. 대대장은 나를 보고 八方美人(팔방미인)이라 評(평)하였다.

못하는 것이 없다며 그리 말한 것이다.

붓글씨로 부터 漢文實力(한문실력)에 陸上(육상), 蹴球(축구), 排球(배구), 노래까지 ᆢ

當時 軍團長(당시 군단장)이 漢學(한학)을 한 將軍(장군)으로 요즘 젊은이들이 漢字(한자)를 몰라 큰 일이라며

一軍團(일군단)에서의 모든 業務(업무)는 漢字(한자)를 쓰도록 業務指針(업무지침)을 내렸었다.

業務日誌(업무일지)를 비롯해서 公文(공문)이나 敎案(교안), 모든 챠트 등을 한자로 쓰게 했던 것이다.

그래서 대대장이 師團 幹部敎育間(사단 간부교육간)에 걱정을 태산같이 했었던 이유이다.

대대 통신대장 임기가 끝나자 새 보직을 받게 되었는데

師團搜索大隊 通信隊長 職責(사단수색대대 통신대장 직책)이었다.

대대 통신대는 聯隊長 隸下 部隊(연대장 예하 부대)이나

수색대대는 사단장의 直屬部隊(직속부대)인 것만 다를뿐 직책은 같다.

지오피 안에 있는 지피까지 通信網(통신망)을 連結(연결)해야 하는 것이 다를 뿐이다.

하여 지오피 수색대대 통신대장으로

다시 勤務(근무)할 수가 없다고 軍令(군령)을 拒不(거부)하고 보름동안 出勤(출근)치 아니하였다.

허니 수색대대장이 대대 幹部(간부)를 시켜 몇 번을 내 집으로 찾아와 출근을 종용했었지만 듣지 않았다.

결국 脫營報告(탈영보고) 되어 師團(사단)에 불려나갔다.

懲戒委員會(징계위원회)에 回附(회부)된 것이다.

징계위원은 사단장 참모들인 各部 處長(처장)들이고 委員長(위원장)은 師團 參謀長(사단 참모장)이 맡았다.

즉 中領(중령)들이 위원이고 大領(대령)이 위원장이다.

불려나가 왜 명령을 不服(불복)했는가 물었다. 나는 답했었다.

여기에 앉아계신 여러 先輩將校(선배장교)들께서 現 職位(현 직위)까지 承級(승급)하는데 까지는

報職管理(보직관리)를 徹底(철저)히 잘 하였을 것입니다.

지오피 부대 2년 반 동안 근무후 다시 같은 보직으로 지오피로 발령을 낸다면

先輩將校(선배장교)분들은 어찌 하시겠습니까? 라 말하니 이에 한 사람도 말문을 열지 못했다.

그리고는 잠깐 나가 있으라 하였고 다시 불러서 들어가니 현실을 이해는 되지만

그러나 이미 사단장의 命令(명령)으로 決裁(결재)가 되었고

發令(발령)이 난 일이라 飜覆(번복) 될 수 없는 일이니

지금이라도 보직에 임한다면 징계자체가 없는 것으로 不問(불문)에 붙이겠다 說得(설득) 한다.

별 수 없이 處罰(처벌)받아 不名譽 轉役(불명예 전역)하는 것보다

참고 軍(군)을 轉役(전역)하는 것이 옳다 여기고 수색대대 통신대장에 임하다.

지오피부대는 營內生活(영내생활)을 해야 한다.

허니 중대장들이 한 달에 한 두번 집에 간다. 중대장 부인이 생과부가 되는 것이다.

중대장이 空白(공백)이 될 때마다 통신대장인 내가 대리 중대장역을 맡았다.

한 밤중 밤을 새워가며 전방에서 진을 치고 潛伏待期(잠복대기)해 보기도 하였다.

북한이 가장 가까운 곳에서이었다.

中尉(중위) 2년동안은 내게 여러 일들이 있었다.

특히 決定的(결정적)인 事件(사건)이 發生(발생)하였으니 秘文 紛失事件(비문 분실사건)이었다.

헌병대 짚차가 와서 나를 연행해 갔다. 罪(죄)를 묻겠다는 名分(명분)이다.

나는 태연했다. 왜냐하면 나는 죄가 없다고 생각했기 때문이다.

사연은 이러하다. 본부중대에서 훈련을 나가는데 통신대에서 비문을 빌려가지고 갔다가 분실했다.

헌데 실제로는 정보과에서 관리하던 비문이 분실되었던 것이고

정보과 중사가 본부중대에서 훈련갔다 돌아와 無電器(무전기) 위에 올려놓은 비문을 가져갔었던 것이다.

그것이 본부중대에서 잃어버린 꼴이 되었던 사실이다. 비문에는 번호가 적혀있다.

부서별로 분배될 때 번호가 기재되기에 통신대 비문은 분실 된 것이 아니라 정보과에 있었던 것이다.

비문은 陰語(음어)이었다. 허니 조사받을 것도 없는 사건이다.

헌병대에 형식적으로 끌려가기는 했지만 아무런 조사도 없었고 곧 귀대하였다.

누군가는 반드시 벌을 받을 사건이다. 실제는 정보과장이 처벌받아야 한다.

허나 그는 뒷빽이 있는 육사출신으로 少領進級(소령진급)코스를 거치는 중이었다.

그러나 나는 첫 부임때부터 탈영보고 된 찍힌 장교인데다 뒷빽이 없었다.

그리고 나는 中尉(중위) 때에 이미 進級(진급)을 포기 하였다.

進級(진급)에 非理(비리)가 甚(심)한 꼴의 모습에 크게 실망했던 것이다.

더불어 내가 대신 처벌받는 것이 積善(적선)이라 여겼다.

나는 重懲戒 處罰(중징계 처벌)을 받았다.

그러자 師團 情報處(사단 정보처)에서 불러 들어가니

너는 잘못이 없다며 上告(상고)하라며 節次(절차)를 자세히 가르쳐 주었다.

이대로 중징계를 받으면 中尉(중위)로 不名譽 退職(불명예 퇴직)이 되고

그러면 戶籍(호적)에 붉은 줄이 올라가게 되어

장차 사회생활의 公的(공적)인 어느 職種(직종)에도 취직이 불가하다는 것이다.

죄인이 아닌 몸이 죄인 신세가 될 수는 없다는 것이었다.

하여 군사령부에 상고하니 불려 올라가 謹愼(근신)의 經處罰(경처벌)을 받아 명예퇴직은 면하게 되었다.

사단 정보처에 가니 다시 육본에 상소하란다.

근신처분도 있으면 進級(진급)이 되지 않는다는 것이다.

카터가 未軍撤收 公約(미군철수 공약)에 따라

우리나라 軍(군)이 맡게 되었기로 지상레이다는 引受(인수)받게 되어 있어서

나는 레이다 敎官要員(교관요원)으로 差出(차출)되었고

미 2사단에 들어가서 레이다 敎官敎育(교관교육)을 받게 되었다.

京畿道 議政府 近郊(경기도 의정부 근교)에 있었기로 서울을 자주 往來(왕래)하며 敎育(교육)을 받았었다.

나는 肉食(육식)을 못하는지라 食事時間(식사시간)이 매우 고역이었다.

고기 아닌 마른 飮食(음식)만 攝取(섭취)하였더니 4일동안 便(변)을 보지 않고 지내었다.

5일만에 대변을 본 기억이 난다.

英語工夫(영어공부)를 제대로 하지 않아 言語疎通(언어소통)에 神經(신경)썼을 뿐

미군부대에서 宿食(숙식)을 했던 그 군대시절이 군생활 중 가장 자유스럽고 편했었다.

責任(책임)도 없고 負擔(부담)도 없었기 때문이다.

단 영어로 가르치는 未軍 敎官(미군 교관)의 講議(강의)가 듣기 不便(불편)했는데

專門用語(전문용어)로 裝備運營(장비운영)의 方法論(방법론)이라 알아들을만 했다.

하루에 2번 커피타임이 있었다. 오전에는 10시, 오후에는 3시이다.

그리고 金曜日(금요일)은 오후 3시면 敎育業務(교육업무)가 끝나고

週末(주말)은 2일이 休日(휴식)이니 金 土 日曜日 三泊(금 토 일요일 삼박)은 서울에서 보낼수 있었다.

未軍(미군)은 그 시절에 이미 週間 五日制 勤務(주간 5일제 근무)이었던 것이다.

교육을 다 받고 나서 실제의 실습은 京畿道 江華島 海岸警戒(경기도 강화도 해안경계)를 맡고 있는

미군부대에 가서 레이다 장비로 직접 運營(운영)해 보는 교육이다.

프로펠라가 두개 달린 대형 헬기로 移動(이동)했으니

군생활에서 나는 통신장교이었기에 두 종류의 헬기를 모두 타 보았다.

그리고 미군 병사들과 함께 지내게 되다.

버릇없는 未軍(미군)들은 우리 軍(군)의 모습과는 달리 階級 上下(계급 상하)의 位階秩序(위계질서)가 느슨했다.

현재 우리 軍(군)도 같아졌다. 오히려 더 解弛(해이)해졌다.
