Jesus Makes Us Honorable ㅡ

 “But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.” (Psalm 16:3)

We are not worthy of God’s love, but Christ, our surety, is worthy, and is abundantly able to save all who shall come unto Him.

Christ delights to take apparently hopeless material, those whom Satan has debased and through whom he has worked, and make them the subjects of His grace.

He rejoices to deliver them from suffering and from the wrath that is to fall upon the disobedient.

If the enemy can lead the desponding to take their eyes off from Jesus, and look to themselves, and dwell upon their own unworthiness, instead of dwelling upon the worthiness of Jesus, His love, His merits, and His great mercy, he will get away their shield of faith and gain his object; they will be exposed to his fiery temptations.

The weak should therefore look to Jesus, and believe in Him; they then exercise faith.

Many make a serious mistake in their religious life by keeping the attention fixed upon their feelings and thus judging of their advancement or decline.

Feelings are not a safe criterion.

We are not to look within for evidence of our acceptance with God.

We shall find there nothing but that which will discourage us.

Our only hope is in “looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2).

There is everything in Him to inspire with hope, with faith, and with courage.

He is our righteousness, our consolation and rejoicing....

A sense of our weakness and unworthiness should lead us with humility of heart to plead the atoning sacrifice of Christ.

As we rely upon His merits we shall find rest and peace and joy.

He saves to the uttermost all who come unto God by Him.

우리를 존귀케 하시는 예수님 ㅡ

“땅에 있는 성도들은 존귀한 자들이니 나의 모든 즐거움이 그들에게 있도다”(시 16:3)

우리는 하나님의 사랑을 받을 가치가 없다.

그러나 우리의 보증인이신 그리스도께서는 그 사랑을 받을 자격이 있으신 것은 물론 그분께로 나오는 모든 사람을 넉넉히 구원할 수도 있으시다.

그리스도께서는 사단이 인격을 저하시켜서 부려 오던 명백하게 가망이 없어 보이는 인물을 기쁘게 취급하셔서 은혜의 백성으로 삼으신다.

그분께서는 그들을 고통으로부터, 그리고 불순종하는 자들에게 임할 진노로부터 구원하시길 기뻐하신다.

만일 원수가 낙심한 자들의 시선을 예수께로부터 돌려 자기 자신을 보게 하고 그들을 예수님의 고귀하신 사랑과 공로와 크신 자비를 생각하는 대신에 자기 자신들의 비천함만을 생각하게 할 수 있다면 원수는 그들에게서 믿음의 방패를 빼앗고 그의 목적을 이루게 될 것이며 그들은 원수의 맹렬한 유혹에 노출되고 말 것이다.

그러므로 약한 자는 예수님을 쳐다보아야 하며 그를 믿어야 한다. 그런 후에 그들은 믿음을 행사해야 한다.

많은 사람들은 그들의 감정을 계속해서 주시하고 그들의 발전이나 쇠퇴를 그것으로 판단함으로써 그들의 신앙 생애에 있어서 심각한 잘못을 범한다.

우리는 하나님의 가납하심을 받은 증거를 찾기 위하여 마음 속을 바라보아서는 안 된다.

우리는 거기에서 우리를 실망시키는 것 외에는 아무것도 발견하지 못할 것이다.

우리의 유일의 소망은 “믿음의 주요 또 온전케 하시는 이인 예수를 바라보”(히 12:2)는 데 있다.

그분에게는 희망과 믿음과 용기를 고취시켜 주는 모든 것이 있다. 그분은 우리의 의요, 우리의 위로요 기쁨이시다.

우리의 연약함과 무가치함을 깨닫게 되면 우리는 겸손한 마음으로 속죄하시는 그리스도의 희생을 간구하게 될 것이다.

우리가 그분의 공로를 의지할 때 우리는 안식과 평안과 기쁨을 발견할 것이다.

그분은 당신을 의지하여 하나님께 나오는 모든 사람을 온전히 구원하신다.
