Night at Oryukdo

10:30 p.m.

The sea accepts everything as it is,
and the moon illuminates itself.

At the place
where my gaze suddenly comes to rest,
energy grows clearer,
and drawn into the reflected moonlight,
I find myself without a single thought.

Along the moonlight resting on the sea,
I swing the sword of the mind once—
yet only my own mind changes;
everything else remains as it is.

My breath
aligns its texture with the dim moonlight on the water—
subject and object dissolve,
a state beyond separation.

Without effort,
attunement happens,
and within a single breath
we are already one.

As time quietly passes by,
the flow becomes unmistakably clear.

The night at Oryukdo—
yesterday, today,
and tomorrow as well—
remains exactly as it is.

What changes
is only the human mind.

《오륙도의 밤》

밤 열 시 반,
바다는 있는 그대로를 받아들이고
달은 스스로를 밝힌다.

나의 시야가
순간 멈춘 그 자리에
기운은 오히려 또렷해지고,
비쳐진 달빛 속으로
빨려들어가는 나는
아무 생각이 없다.

바다 위에 비친 달빛을 따라
마음의 검을 한 번 휘둘러 보지만,
변하는 것은 내 마음뿐
모든 것은 그대로다.

호흡은
바다에 비친 어스름한 달빛과
결을 맞추고,
물아일체이니
망아지경이다.

애써 맞추지 않아도
그들과의 어울림은
한 호흡 속에서
이미 하나가 된다.

스쳐 지나가는 시간 속에서
흐름은 더욱 분명해진다.

오륙도의 밤,
어제도 오늘도
그리고 내일도
여전히 있는 그대로다.

변하는 것은
인간의 마음뿐이다.
