미즈 중년 미(3rd Place Award at Korean Middle-aged Women Beauty Contest)가 무슨 의미있나요.
사람과의 관계(Relationships with people)란 이런 것이구나.
Epilogue
It was 11pm when I left Headmoose. And I continued driving south. Of course, I didn’t stop for reasons other than being tired or exhausted, except for stopping at Tim Horton’s 6 times for coffee and cigarettes and McDonald’s 4 times. There were a lot of unpaved roads, so I was especially careful about driving at night. Sleeping in a car for 4 hours at Matheson, which was about halfway, was the first and last time, and it made my body feel normal again. And after 5 hours, I was able to safely arrive at the parking lot of the 5th floor condo where I live in Muskoka. I live in unit 105, which is on the left end of the first floor, overlooking the lake. It was 7pm when I arrived. The sun was just starting to set, so it was dark and the wind was blowing, making it dreary.
I was startled and nervous. The lights were off, but the living room of the condo was dimly lit. I walked three steps to the left from the stairs leading to the front door and looked for the emergency key under the small flowerpot of hibiscus on the floor next to me. It wasn’t there. This was clearly someone who had found the key and opened it. I opened the front door quietly with the main key in a tense state. Then I was surprised. There was a person lying on the floor of the living room with an electric blanket, and it was a woman… The woman was Na Sehee. I suddenly felt confused. So, is this all real? How on earth did Na Sehee, who lives in the United States, end up in the living room of my condo in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada???
I put my bag on the floor and first made some hot coffee. Then I saw Na Sehee lying down and sleeping. I thought she must have been very tired because she didn’t even notice me coming in. At that moment, Sehee woke up in surprise.
“Sehee ya~ How are you here?”
“Grandpa! Is this you, Grandpa? Is this Muskoka (Ontario, Canada)?”
"Come here. Let me hug you."
Sehee ran to my chest and hugged me, shedding tears at those words.
"Eeeang!!! Do you know how worried and waited for me? You stupid grandpa!"
Sehee cried and hit my chest. It was definitely me. We went out to the veranda with a view of the lake, holding hot coffee, and sat on chairs.
"I found out your home address when I bought my plane ticket to Korea, and I came here because I couldn't live without you. I remembered the place you told Mina about the house key. When I got home, it was right where you were, so I decided to wait for you no matter what. If I contact you in 5 days, Mina will come too. That's it. Don't say anything. I... I just need you. I thought a lot after coming here. What's the value of an E University, College Diploma? What's the meaning of a 3rd Place Award at the Korean Middle-aged Women Beauty Contest? Why do you need sophistication and pride in front of you? What kind of boastfulness does nice posture have? Why do I need intellectual behavior? I thought that only true love is needed to live with you and support you. Even if you thought we were late, It's the best time. Age? It's just a number to you and me, Na Sehee. It's the perfect age to create this special relationship. Now, even if you don't have strength, even if you don't have full erection, even if you don't have money... You, just as you are now, are my beloved husband. I'm going to marry you soon. So I won't leave you anymore. I'll go anywhere in the world with you. Hold your hand tightly... So you have to promise me all these things right now, risking your life. Hurry up!"
"Right now!"
"Yes! Right now!"
It's been a long time since I've shed tears. This is what relationships with people are like. I hugged Na Sehee tightly with tears in my eyes. -End-
