아쉽다는 'shame'으로 표현하다. 이 표현은 '창피하다'하고 상관 없는 말입니다. 그냥 '안됐다'나 '아쉽다'라고 생각하시면 됩니다. 일행 중에서 내일 일찍 일어나야 돼서 자리를 먼저 뜨겠다고 하는 친구한테 'It's a shame you have to leave so early'라고 하시면 됩니다. 그러나 누군가의 친척 한 명이 돌아가셨다고 하면 한국말에서 '아쉽다'라고 안 하듯이 이 표현도 쓰시면 절대 안 됩니다. 소규모 유감을 표현할 때 쓰는 말이죠.

친구 1: She's going out with that guy?
친구 2: That's a real shame. I was just about to ask her out.

It's a shame there is only one candy..

사탕이 하나밖에 없어서 아쉽다..
