2014 Australian Open Tournament
4th – 8th July 2014
Tallebudgera, Gold Coast, Queensland
Scope of tournament – The 1st Bi-annual tournament is open to all competitors and components of Korean sword (Kumdo /Gumdo) without prejudice to style or association. Allowances will be made for the differences shown in standardised patterns and competitors will be judged according to the attached conditions. Individual and group Kumbup, sword dance, paper, bamboo and tatami cutting as well as full contact kyokum (sparring) are among the included events.
This is a truly “open” tournament, in the spirit of unified Martial Arts. We will come together in the way of the sword…..Korean Style!
Location. The 1st Biannual event will take place on Queensland’s Gold Coast at the State Government run facility of the Tallebudgera Sports and Recreation Centre. Set at the foot of the lush forest of Burleigh Head lands, adjoining the crystal clear waters of the Tallebudgera creek and fronted by the iconic gold coast surf beaches, this world class facility will host the tournament in all aspects. Accommodation, meals seminars and the tournament proper will all be held in the one location.
Tours and activities. With the availability of a swimming pool, man-made rock climbing wall and high ropes course on site as well as canoeing and beaches, there are a multitude of activities to participate in. Organised tours will include the Currumbin wild life sanctuary where guests will be able to see and experience iconic Australian animals such as Koala and kangaroo, crocodile and snakes.
Also a trip to tropical fruit world has been scheduled where guests will see a functioning tropical fruit farm, learn about the wonders of Australian native fruits and get to hand feed some Kangaroos.
For those staying on beyond the organised dates the Gold Coast offers many world class attractions and theme parks including Sea World, Dream World, Warner Brothers Movie World and many others.
Costs. Per person the costs are kept to a minimum and are all inclusive. There are no additional costs for tournament or seminar participation, however normal grading fees will apply for those that wish to grade at this time. Tours and organised activities, accommodation- Including Breakfast, Lunch and Evening meals as well as all transfers from Brisbane or gold coast airports to the Tallebudgera.
