Scripture Psalms 121 : 1 ~ 3 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pastor Khan Aqeel / 2026- 08 – 23

† I lift up my eyes to the mountains †

Brothers and sisters, here in Psalms 121 : 1 writer stated that he lift his eyes towards the mountains. Why, he lift his eyes towards mountains? Is there any help? Mountains will help him? No never, not at all.

Psalms 121 : 1 ~ I lift up my eyes to the mountains where does my help come from?

Here writer of this Psalms explained that the creator of lofty mountains, heaven and earth will help him.

Psalms 121 : 2 ~ 3 (Use your names instead of Israel)

My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

In our pains, sufferings, difficulties, disasters. We’ve to lift our eyes to God of heaven & earth. He’ll help. Jesus our Saviour came on this earth and taught us to lift our eyes towards God of heaven and earth. By Himself He is God. He lift up His eyes towards heaven. Jesus, teach us to trust in the Lord God only.

1. Jesus lifted His eyes to supply the physical needs.

Mark 6 : 41

Taking the five loaves & the two fish & looking up to heaven, He gave thanks & broke the loaves. Then He gave them to His disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all.

Once Jesus as usual teaching, preaching & healing. There were 5000 young men excluding women, children & old people. They were hungry & exhausted. Disciples suggested Jesus, let them go & buy food for themselves but Jesus said to disciples. They suppose to provide food. Later a lunch box of a young boy given to Jesus. Jesus look toward’s heaven, blessed food & more than 1.5 million were fed.

Genesis 22 : 14 (Jehovah Jireh)

So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this

day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”

God is Jehovah Jireh. He’s God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob. He’s our God too. He’ll supply our needs too.

Matthew 7 : 7

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Let’s lift up our eyes toward’s God of heaven & earth with faith and ask with faith in Jesus name.

2. Jesus lifted His eyes for the healing.

Mark 7 : 34 ~ 35

He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means “Be opened!”). At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.

Brothers and sisters, once people brought a person who was deaf and dumb by birth. He never listen or talk in his whole life. Jesus took him a aside, Jesus put his fingers in his ears and Jesus said loudly,

Ephphatha!” (which means “Be opened!”). Friends, Jesus by Himself is God & He has power to rebuke disease but He look towards to heaven to teach us a lesson. That we’ve to look heaven (God).

Friends, let us trust in God in all circumstances. He can heal every kind of disease.

Matthew 4 : 23

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Good

News of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

Exodus 15 : 26 (Jehovah Rapha)

He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay

attention to His commands and keep all His decrees, I will not bring on you any of the

diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.”

Brothers & sisters, always remember our God is Jehovah Rapha. If we’ll listen God’s commands carefully and obey. Surely, no one sickness and disease come near us cause we will live under the grace of God.

3. Jesus lifted His eyes for raising the dead.

John 11 : 41

So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up & said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard Me.

There was a family (Three Siblings) loved by Jesus. Martha, Mary & Lazarus. Three of them very faithful & follow Jesus faithfully. Once Lazarus became sick. Martha and Mary sent a message but Jesus did not move from His place. On 4th day Jesus came. Relatives put Lazarus in the grave. Jesus gave them peace.

In front of grave Jesus said remove the stone. Jesus look towards heaven and shout Lazarus come out.

John 11 : 43 ~ 44

When He had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out,

his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.

Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

Sometimes it happen in our lives. There are dead ends. No way to move. Just look towards heaven.

Pray with faith in Jesus name to God the Father. Surely miracle will be happen.

Matthew 11 : 28 ~ Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

John 11 : 25

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.

The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die;

4. Jesus lifted His eyes for the interceding prayer.

John 17 : 1 ~~ After Jesus said this, He looked toward heaven and prayed:

“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.

Friends, finally we can see Jesus lift up His eyes towards heaven to pray for His disciples & followers.

John 17 : 9 & 11 (Jesus prayed for protection & oneness)

I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given Me, for they are yours. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, & I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave Me, so that they may be one as we are one.

Jesus prayed for His disciples or in others words He prayed for His followers protection.

He is still praying for us. Do we pray for our beloved ones only or we pray for others too?

Romans 8 : 34

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died more than that,

who was raised to life is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

Conclusion :-

Jesus by Himself He is Messiah & Son of living God. He lift up His eyes towards heaven and prayed.

Jesus taught us to pray unceasing. Pray to God the Father, in His name, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 18 : 1

Then Jesus told His disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

Isaiah 57 : 15

For this is what the high & exalted One says He who lives forever, Whose name is holy: “I live in a high & holy place, but also with the one who is contrite & lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly.

Hebrews 3 : 1 and 12

Fix your thoughts on Jesus, ~ fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

John 16 : 23 ~~ In that day you will no longer ask Me anything.

Very truly I tell you, My Father will give you whatever you ask in My name.

내가 산을 향하여 눈을 들리라

형제자매 여러분, 시편 121편에서 저자는 산을 향하여 눈을 든다고 말했습니다. 왜 그는 산을 향하여

눈을 들었을까요? 거기에 어떤 도움이 있습니까? 산이 그를 도와줄까요? 절대로 그렇지 않습니다.

시편 121 : 1 ~~ 내가 산을 향하여 눈을 들리라 나의 도움이 어디서 올까.

이 시편의 저자는 높은 산, 하늘, 땅의 창조주가 그를 도우실 것이라고 설명합니다.

시편 121 : 2 ~ 4 (이스라엘 대신에 여러분의 이름을 불러보십시오)

나의 도움은 천지를 지으신 여호와에게서로다 여호와께서 너를 실족하지 아니하게 하시며 너를 지키시는 이가 졸지 아니하시리로다 이스라엘을 지키시는 이는 졸지도 아니하시고 주무시지도 아니하시리로다

우리의 고통, 고난, 어려움, 재난 중에 우리는 천지의 하나님께로 눈을 들어야 합니다. 그분께서 도우실 것입니다. 우리 구세주 예수님은 이 땅에 오셔서 천지의 하나님께 눈을 들라고 가르치셨습니다. 그분자신이 하나님이십니다. 그분은 하늘을 향하여 눈을 드셨습니다. 예수님은 오직 하나님만을 신뢰하라고 가르치십니다.

1. 예수님은 육체적 필요를 공급받기 위해 눈을 드셨습니다.

마가복음 6 : 41

예수께서 떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리를 가지사 하늘을 우러러 축사하시고 떡을 떼어

제자들에게 주어 사람들에게 나누어 주게 하시고 또 물고기 두 마리도 모든 사람에게 나누시매.

예수님은 평소대로 가르치고, 전하고, 치유하셨습니다. 거기에는 여자, 아이들, 노인을 포함하여 5000명의 젊은 남자가 있었습니다. 그들은 배고프고 지쳤습니다. 제자들은 그들 스스로 가서 음식을 사게 하라고 예수님께 제안했으나 예수님은 제자들에게 음식을 준비하라고 말씀하셨습니다. 그 후에 한 소년이 도시락 하나를 예수님께 드렸습니다. 예수님은 하늘을 바라보시며 축복하시고 15000명 이상을 먹이셨습니다.

창세기 22 : 14 (여호와 이레)

아브라함이 그 땅 이름을 여호와 이레라 하였으므로 오늘날까지

사람들이 이르기를 여호와의 산에서 준비되리라 하더라.

하나님은 여호와 이레이십니다. 그분은 아브라함, 이삭, 야곱의 하나님만이 아닙니다.

그분은 또한 우리의 하나님이십니다. 그분께서 우리의 필요도 공급하실 것입니다.

마태복음 7 : 7 ~~ 구하라 그리하면 너희에게 주실 것이요 찾으라 그리하면

찾아낼 것이요 문을 두드리라 그리하면 너희에게 열릴 것이니.

믿음으로 천지의 하나님을 향하여 눈을 들고 예수의 이름으로 믿음을 가지고 구합시다.

2. 예수님은 치유를 위해 눈을 드셨습니다.

마가복음 7 : 34 ~ 35

하늘을 우러러 탄식하시며 그에게 이르시되 에바다 하시니 이는 열리라는

뜻이라 그의 귀가 열리고 혀가 맺힌 것이 곧 풀려 말이 분명하여졌더라.

형제자매 여러분, 사람들이 태어나면서부터 듣지 못하고 말을 못하는 사람을 데려왔습니다. 그는 평생 동안 듣거나 말할 수 없었습니다. 예수님은 그를 따로 데려가셔서 손가락을 그의 귀에 넣고

큰소리로 말씀하셨습니다. “에바다!” (열리라는 뜻입니다)

예수님 자신이 하나님이시고 그분에게 질병을 꾸짖을 능력이 있지만 우리에게 하늘(하나님)을

바라보아야 한다는 교훈을 가르치시기 위해 그분은 하늘을 바라보셨습니다.

모든 상황에서 하나님을 신뢰합시다. 그분은 모든 질병을 치유하실 수 있습니다.

마태복음 4 : 23 ~~ 예수께서 온 갈릴리에 두루 다니사 그들의 회당에서 가르치시며

천국 복음을 전파하시며 백성중의 모든 병과 모든 약한 것을 고치시니.

출애굽기 15 : 26 (여호와 라파)

이르시되 너희가 너희 하나님 나 여호와의 말을 들어 순종하고 내가 보기에 의를 행하며 내 계명에

귀를 기울이며 내 모든 규례를 지키면 내가 애굽 사람에게 내린 모든 질병 중 하나도

너희에게 내리지 아니하리니 나는 너희를 치료하는 여호와임이라.

형제자매 여러분, 우리 하나님은 여호와 라파이심을 항상 기억하십시오. 우리가 하나님의 명령을 신중하게 듣고 순종하면 틀림없이 질병과 약함이 우리 가까이 오지 못할

것입니다. 우리는 하나님의 은혜 아래 있기 때문입니다.

3. 예수님은 죽음에서 일으키기 위해 눈을 드셨습니다.

요한복음 11 : 41

돌을 옮겨 놓으니 예수께서 눈을 들어 우러러 보시고 이르시되 아버지여 내 말을 들으신 것을 감사하나이다

예수께서 사랑하시는 가족(세 남매)이 있었습니다. 마르다, 마리아와 나사로입니다. 그들 세 명 모두 매우 신실하고 충성스럽게 예수를 따랐습니다. 한번은 나사로가 병들었습니다. 마르다와 마리아는 소식을 보냈지만 예수님은 그 곳에서 오시지 않았습니다. 나흘째에 예수님이 오셨습니다. 친척들은 나사로를 무덤에 넣었습니다. 예수님은 그들에게 평안을 주셨습니다. 무덤 앞에서 돌을 치우라고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 하늘을 바라보시고 나사로에게 나오라고 외치셨습니다.

요한복음 11 : 43 ~ 44

이 말씀을 하시고 큰 소리로 나사로야 나오라 부르시니 죽은 자가 수족을 베로 동인 채로

나오는데 그 얼굴은 수건에 싸였더라 예수께서 이르시되 풀어놓아 다니게 하라 하시니라.

때때로 우리 삶에 이런 일이 일어납니다. 막다른 길입니다. 움직일 곳이 없습니다. 오직 하늘을 바라보십시오. 예수의 이름으로 믿음을 가지고 하나님 아버지께 기도하십시오. 틀림없이 기적이 일어날 것입니다.

마태복음 11 : 28 ~~ 수고하고 무거운 짐 진 자들아 다 내게로 오라 내가 너희를 쉬게 하리라.

요한복음 11 : 25 ~~ 예수께서 이르시되 나는 부활이요 생명이니 나를 믿는 자는 죽어도 살겠고.

4. 예수님은 중보기도를 위해 눈을 드셨습니다.

요한복음 17 : 1 ~~ 예수께서 이 말씀을 하시고 눈을 들어 하늘을 우러러 이르시되 아버지여 때가

이르렀사오니 아들을 영화롭게 하사 아들로 아버지를 영화롭게 하게 하옵소서.

마지막으로 예수님은 제자들과 따르는 자들을 위해 기도하시려고 하늘을 향해 눈을 드셨음을 알 수 있습니다.

요한복음 17 : 9, 11 (예수님은 보호와 하나 됨을 위해 기도하셨습니다)

내가 그들을 위하여 비옵나니 내가 비옵는 것은 세상을 위함이 아니요 내게 주신 자들을 위함이니이다 그들은 아버지의 것이로소이다. -- 나는 세상에 더 있디 아니하오나 그들은 세상에 있사옵고 나는

아버지께로 가옵나니 거룩하신 아버지여 내게 주신 아버지의 이름으로 그들을

보전하사 우리와 같이 그들도 하나가 되게 하옵소서.

예수님은 제자들을 위해 기도하셨고 다시 말해 따르는 자들의 보호를 위해 기도하셨습니다. 그분은 여전히 우리를 위해 기도하십니다. 우리는 사랑하는 사람만을 위해 기도합니까 아니면 다른 사람을 위해서도 기도합니까?

로마서 8 : 34 ~~ 누가 정죄하리요 죽으실 뿐 아니라 다시 살아나신 이는 그리스도 예수시니

그는 하나님 우편에 계신 자요 우리를 위하여 간구하시는 자시니라.

결론 :-

예수님은 메시야이시며 살아계신 하나님의 아들이십니다. 그분은 하늘을 향해 눈을 들고 기도하셨습니다. 예수님은 끊임없이 기도하라고 우리에게 가르치셨습니다. 그분의 이름으로, 성령의 도우심으로, 하나님 아버지께 기도하십시오.

누가복음 18 : 1 ~~ 예수께서 그들에게 항상 기도하고 낙심하지 말아야 할 것을 비유로 말씀하여.

이사야 57 : 15

지극히 존귀하며 영원히 거하시며 거룩하다 이름하는 이가 이와 같이 말씀하시되 내가 높고 거룩한

곳에 있으며 또한 통회하고 마음이 겸손한 자와 함께 있나니 이는 겸손한 자의

영을 소생시키며 통회하는 자의 마음을 소생시키려 함이라.

히브리서 3 : 1, 12 : 2 ~ 수를 깊이 생각하라. ~ 믿음의 주요 또 온전하게 하시는 이인 예수를 바라보자.

요한복음 16 : 23

그 날에는 너희가 아무 것도 내게 묻지 아니하리라 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게

이르노니 너희가 무엇이든지 아버지께 구하는 것을 내 이름으로 주시리라.
