선지자 이사야는 이사야 46장에서

바벨론이 포위되는 장면과 그 우상들의 피난 장면을

그림처럼 우리에게 묘사해 주고 있습니다.

The prophet Isaiah draws a picture for us

in Isaiah 46 of the siege of Babylon and

the evacuation of its idols.

우상들을 실은 수레와 마차들은 삐걱거리며

피곤한 짐승들은 그 무거운 짐에 신음소리를 냅니다(1절).

The carts and carriages that carry them creak,

and the weary animals groan under the load.

이와 대조적으로 이사야는 하나님께서는

하나님의 자녀를 태에서부터 품으셨다고 말합니다.

In contrast, Isaiah says that

God carries His children from birth (v.3).

하나님께서는 “너희가 노년에 이르기까지 내가 그리 하겠고

백발이 되기까지 내가 너희를 품을 것이라”라고 선언하십니다.

“Even to your old age, I am He,

and even to gray hairs I will carry you!” God declares (v.4).

그 대조가 히브리어 성경에서는 정확하고 생생합니다.

The contrast is precise and vivid in the Hebrew text:

수레와 마차들은 우상들의 무게로 “무거운 부담을 지지만”,

The carts and carriages are “loaded” with the weight of the idols (v.1),

우리들은 하나님의 품에 안기는 것입니다.

 but we are loaded upon God (v.3).

우상들은 운반해야 할 “무거운 짐”이지만,

하나님께서는 우리들을 즐거이 태에서부터“품으십니다”.

Idols are a “burden,” a thing carried (v.1),

but God has gladly “carried” us from the womb (v.3).

주님이 우리를 지으셨습니다(4절).

The Lord has made us.

그 어느 것도 주님의 자녀에 대한

우리 아버지 하나님의 사랑과 돌봄보다 더 위안이 되는 것이 없습니다.

Nothing could be more comforting,

for our Father loves and cares for His children.

하나님께서는 “너를 품으리라”라고 약속하십니다.

He promises, “I will carry you!”

그리고 그 약속에는 우리가 사는 동안 닥쳐오는

모든 근심과 걱정이 다 포함됩니다.

and that includes every care and worry

that comes our way throughout our lifetime.

그래서 우리는 하나님께서 우리를 품으시고

또 우리의 모든 무거운 짐을 지시게 할 수 있습니다.

So we may let Him carry us and our every burden.

Isaiah 46:1-9

[사] 46:1	바빌론의 우상인 벨과 느보를 짐승들이 싣고 간다. 그 우상들은 실어 날라야 할 무거운 짐이며, 짐승들을 지치게 하는 것일 뿐이다. Bel bows down, Nebo stoops low; their idols are borne by beasts of burden. The images that are carried about are burdensome, a burden for the weary.
[사] 46:2	이 헛된 신들이 모두 고꾸라졌다. 그들은 자기를 구하지 못하고, 모두가 포로처럼 끌려간다. They stoop and bow down together; unable to rescue the burden, they themselves go off into captivity.
[사] 46:3	"야곱의 자손아, 내 말을 들어라. 살아남은 이스라엘 백성아, 귀를 기울여라. 너희가 태어날 때부터 내가 너희를 안고 다녔고, 어머니 뱃속에서 나올 때부터 너희를 돌보았다. "Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all you who remain of the house of Israel, you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, an have carried since your birth.
[사] 46:4	너희가 늙을 때까지 내가 너희를 돌보겠고, 너희 머리가 희어질 때까지 내가 너희를 품어 주겠다. 내가 너희를 지었으니 너희를 돌보겠다. 너희를 인도하며 구원해 주겠다. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
[사] 46:5	너희가 나를 누구에게 비기겠느냐? 누구를 나와 견줄 수 있겠느냐? "To whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?
[사] 46:6	금을 많이 가진 사람, 은을 저울에 다는 사람이 금세공인을 고용하여 그 금과 은으로 우상을 만들게 하고, 그 우상에게 엎드려 절한다. Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it.
[사] 46:7	그들이 우상을 어깨에 메어다가 우상을 둘 곳에 내려놓으면, 우상은 거기에 서서 움직이지 못한다. 사람들이 그것에게 제아무리 외쳐도 대답하지 못하고 고통당하는 사람도 구하지 못한다. They lift it to their shoulders and carry it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move. Though one cries out to it, it does not answer; it cannot save him from his troubles.
[사] 46:8	이것을 기억하고 잊지 마라. 하나님을 배반한 사람들아, 이 일을 생각하여라. "Remember this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels.
[사] 46:9	옛날에 일어난 일을 기억하여라. 나는 하나님이며, 나 외에 다른 하나님은 없다. 나는 하나님이며, 나와 같은 이는 없다. Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.

Heavenly Father, I want to unload my burdens on You today. Help me to leave them with You. I trust You with my past, present, and future. Thank You for Your goodness to me. Amen. Our work is to cast care; God’s work is to take care!

하늘에 계신 하나님 아버지, 오늘 제 짐을 주님께 내려놓기를 원합니다. 주님께 그 짐들을 맡길 수 있도록 도와주소서. 저는 제 과거, 현재 그리고 미래를 두고 주님을 신뢰합니다. 제게 향한 주님의 선하심을 감사드립니다. 아멘. 우리 일은 걱정을 내려놓는 것이며 하나님의 일은 돌보시는 것이다.
