† Do you want double portion of the blessings ?†

It’s human nature; that we always want double blessings. The one who has one room want double room and the who has bicycle want to have Motor Cycle & the one who have Motor Cycle want to have Motor Car. Everyone want more and more. Let me ask you a question. Do you want double blessings?

In the scripture, prophet Elisha ask the double portion of the blessings from his teacher prophet Elijah.

2nd. Kings 2 : 9

When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before

I am taken from you?” “Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

Dear friends, if anyone of us want to have double BLESSINGS, listen very carefully.

1. How, prophet Elisha received double Blessings.

Dear friends, at first I want to share with you the reason or secret of prophet Elisha’s double portion.

2nd. Kings 2 : 9

When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before

I am taken from you?” “Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

It was not just Elisha said & next moment Elijah gave him double portion. Elisha suffered & pass all the tests.

(a) Elisha followed his teacher.

Friends, others followers or disciples of prophet Elijah told very clearly that Elijah is going to die. No need to follow Elijah anymore. But Elisha did not care anyone. Elisha followed Elijah all the way.

2nd. Kings 2 : 3

The company of the prophets at Bethel came out to Elisha and asked, “Do you know that the

Lord is going to take your master from you today?” “Yes, I know,” Elisha replied, “so be quiet.”

All the disciples or the company of prophets dis-hearted Elisha. No need to follow teacher anymore. He’s going to die. It is finished. Find someone new teacher but he said be quiet. Even Elijah said go away.

2nd. Kings 2 : 6

Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” And he replied,

“As surely as the Lord lives & as you live, I will not leave you.” So the two of them walked on.

Elisha never departed from his teacher. Finally, Elijah asked the requirement of Elisha. What he want? Elijah told the secret of blessings. If Elisha saw the departure of Elijah, then he can have double blessings.

2nd. Kings 2 : 10

“You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah said, “yet if you see me

when I am taken from you, it will be yours otherwise, it will not.”

Elisha received double portion just because he followed his teacher until end. He did not care about other disciples or followers of Elijah. He just followed his teacher until end & received double blessings.

John 13 : 13 ~~~ You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am.

Revelation 2 : 10 ~ Be faithful, even to the point of death, & I will give you life as your victor’s crown.

2. How, Job received double Blessings.

2ndly,I want to share secret of double portion of Job’s blessings. It was not, “he forgave his friends only”.

Job 42 : 10

After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord made him

prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.

Let’s see what was the reason why, God blessed Job double. Just pray for friends or more than that.

(a) Job praise & gave thanks in all circumstances.

Job 1 : 21

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart.

The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”

When Devil took everything of Job. Job never complain or grumble. He just praise and gave thanks.

1st. Thessalonians 5 : 18 ~ give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

(b) His repentance cause his double blessings.

Job repented, God if I made anything wrong in Your eyes. Please forgive me. Job 1 : 5. He gave burnt offerings.

Job 42 : 6 ~~ Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.

Acts 3 : 19

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be

wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

(c) His hope, cause his double blessings.

Job 5 : 17 ~ 18

Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the

Almighty. For He wounds, but He also binds up; He injures, but His hands also heal.

When God is with us we don't have to be discouraged. Cause He will restore. Just be strong.

Hebrew 13 : 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

(d) His forgiveness cause his double blessings.

Job’s friends, led Job on a wrong way but Job never followed them. Finally Job forgave them.

Job 42 : 10

After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord made him

prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.

Let’s forgive to have forgiveness. If he didn’t forgave his friends. Maybe he didn’t have double blessings

Matthew 6 : 12 (Lord's Prayer) (International Standard version)

and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.

3. How, Hannah received double Blessings.

3rdly, I want to draw your attention towards Hannah’s blessings. She was barren lady. Her rival always provoked or taunt her. God isn’t interested in her. She is barren. She can not give birth. Etc, etc. But Hannah trust in the Lord and never lost her faith in Lord. Every year she went to temple and prayed.

1st Samuel 1 : 6

Because the Lord had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her.

God blessed her & she gave birth to Samuel. She gave back to God & God blessed her 7 times.

1st Samuel 2 : 5

Those who were full hire themselves out for food, but those who were hungry are hungry no more. She who was barren has borne seven children, but she who has had many sons pines away.

Conclusion :-

Everyone of us love to have “Double blessings” But we don't know what to do before & after having blessings. If anyone is suffering today. Surely God is going to bless you double. Just wait and pray. Follow the steps of Elisha, Job, Hannah, Abraham, and so on. Surely, God is going to bless you.

Deuteronomy 28 : 8 (First Portion)

The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to.

Revelation 1 : 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, & blessed

are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

갑절의 축복을 원하십니까?

언제나 갑절의 축복을 원하는 것은 인간의 본성입니다. 방 하나를 가진 사람은 두 개의 방을 원하고 자전거를 가진 사람은 오토바이를 원하고 오토바이를 가진 사람은 자동차를 원합니다. 모든 사람이 점점 더 원합니다. 여러분께 질문하겠습니다. 갑절의 축복을 원하십니까?

본문 말씀에서 선지자 엘리사는 선생인 선지자 엘리야에게 갑절의 축복을 요구했습니다.

열왕기하 2 : 9

건너매 엘리야가 엘리사에게 이르되 나를 네게서 데려감을 당하기 전에 내게 네게 어떻게 할지를

구하라 엘리사가 이르되 당신의 성령이 하시는 역사가 갑절이나 내게 있게 하소서 하는지라

우리 중 누군가 갑절의 축복을 받기 원한다면 잘 들으십시오.

1. 어떻게 선지자 엘리사는 갑절의 축복을 받았을까요?

먼저 선지자 엘리사가 갑절의 축복을 받은 이유 즉 비밀을 나누고자 합니다.

열왕기하 2 : 9

건너매 엘리야가 엘리사에게 이르되 나를 네게서 데려감을 당하기 전에 내게 네게 어떻게 할지를

구하라 엘리사가 이르되 당신의 성령이 하시는 역사가 갑절이나 내게 있게 하소서 하는지라.

엘리사가 말한 바로 다음 순간 엘리야는 그에게 갑절의 축복을

주었습니다. 엘리사는 모든 시험을 겪고 통과했습니다.

(a) 엘리사는 그의 선생을 따랐습니다.

엘리야의 다른 제자들은 엘리야가 죽을 것이니 더 이상 엘리야를 따를 필요가 없다고 매우 분명하게 말했습니다. 하지만 엘리사는 신경 쓰지 않고 모든 면에서 엘리야를 따랐습니다.

열왕기하 2 : 3

벧엘에 있는 선지자의 제자들이 엘리사에게로 나아와 그에게 이르되 여호와께서 오늘 당신의 선생을

당신의 머리 뒤로 데려가실 줄을 아시나이까 하니 이르되 나도 또한 아노니 너희는 잠잠하라 하니라

선지자의 모든 제자와 동료들은 엘리사를 낙심하게 했습니다. ‘선생이 죽을 것이니 더 이상 그를 따를 필요 없다, 이제 끝났다, 새로운 선생을 찾으라’고 했습니다. 하지만 그는 잠잠하라고 말했습니다. 심지어 엘리야도 떠나라고 말했습니다.

열왕기하 2 : 6

엘리야가 또 엘리사에게 이르되 청하건대 너는 여기 머물라 여호와께서 나를 요단으로 보내시느니라 하니 그가 이르되 여호와께서 살아계심과 당신의 영혼이 살아 있음을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 당신을 떠나지 아니하겠나이다 하는지라 이에 두 사람이 가니라.

엘리사는 그의 선생을 떠나지 않았습니다. 결국 엘리야는 무엇을 원하는지 엘리사의 요구를 물었습니다.

엘리야는 축복의 비밀을 말했습니다. 엘리사가 엘리야의 떠나는 것을 본다면

갑절의 축복을 받을 수 있다고 말했습니다.

열왕기하 2 : 10

이르되 네가 어려운 일을 구하는도다 그러나 나를 네게서 데려가시는 것을 네가

보면 그 일이 네게 이루어지려니와 그렇지 아니하면 이루어지지 아니하리라 하고.

엘리사는 끝까지 그의 선생을 따랐기 때문에 갑절의 축복을 받았습니다. 엘리야는 다른 제자들에

대해 신경 쓰지 않았습니다. 그는 오직 끝까지 선생을 따랐고 갑절의 축복을 받았습니다.

요한복음 13 : 13 ~~~ 너희가 나를 선생이라 또는 주라 하니 너희 말이 옳도다 내가 그러하다.

요한계시록 2 : 10 ~~~ 네가 죽도록 충성하라 그리하면 내가 생명의 관을 네게 주리라.

2. 어떻게 욥은 갑절의 축복을 받았을까요?

두 번째, 욥의 갑절의 축복의 비밀을 나누고자 합니다. 단지 친구를 용서한 것만이 아닙니다.

욥기 42 : 10

욥이 그의 친구들을 위하여 기도할 때 여호와께서 욥의 곤경을

돌이키시고 여호와께서 욥에게 이전 모든 소유보다 갑절이나 주신지라

하나님께서 욥에게 갑절의 축복을 주신 이유가 무엇인지 알아봅시다. 단지 친구를 위해 기도한 것 그 이상입니다.

(a) 욥은 찬양하며 모든 상황에서 감사했습니다.

욥기 1 : 21

이르되 내가 모태에서 알몸으로 나왔사온즉 또한 알몸이 그리로 돌아가올지라 주신 이도

여호와시오 거두신 이도 여호와시오니 여호와의 이름이 찬송을 받으실지니이다 하고

마귀가 욥의 모든 것을 가져갔을 때 욥은 불평하거나 투덜대지 않았습니다. 오직 찬양하며 감사했습니다.

데살로니가전서 5 : 18 ~ 범사에 감사하라 이것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희를 향하신 하나님의 뜻이니라

(b) 그의 회개가 갑절의 축복이 되었습니다.

‘하나님, 당신께 죄를 지었다면 용서해 주십시오’라고 욥은 회개했습니다. 그는 번제를 드렸습니다. (욥기1:5)

욥기 42 : 6 ~~~ 그러므로 내가 스스로 거두어들이고 티끌과 재 가운데에서 회개하나이다

사도행전 3 : 19

그러므로 너희가 회개하고 돌이켜 너희 죄 없이 함을 받으라 이같이 하면 새롭게 하는 날이 주 앞으로부터 이를 것이요

(c) 그의 소망이 갑절의 축복이 되었습니다.

욥기 5 : 17 ~ 18

볼지어다 하나님께 징계 받는 자에게는 복이 있나니 그런즉 너는 전능자의 징계를 업신여기지

말지니라 하나님은 아프게 하시다가 싸매시며 상하게 하시다가 그의 손으로 고치시나니.

하나님이 우리와 함께 하실 때 우리는 낙심할 필요가 없습니다. 그분이 회복시키실 것이기 때문입니다. 오직 담대하십시오.

히브리서 13 : 8 ~~~ 예수 그리스도는 어제나 오늘이나 영원토록 동일하시니라

(d) 그의 용서가 갑절의 축복이 되었습니다

욥의 친구들은 욥을 잘못된 길로 이끌었지만 욥은 그들을 따르지 않았습니다. 결국 욥은 그들을 용서했습니다.

욥기 42 : 10

욥이 그의 친구들을 위하여 기도할 때 여호와께서 욥의 곤경을

돌이키시고 여호와께서 욥에게 이전 모든 소유보다 갑절이나 주신지라

용서 받으려면 용서합시다. 친구를 용서하지 않으면 갑절의 축복을 받을 수 없을 것입니다.

마태복음 6 : 12 (주님의 기도) 우리가 우리에게 죄 지은 자를 사하여 준 것 같이 우리 죄를 사하여 주시옵고

3. 어떻게 한나는 갑절의 축복을 받았을까요?

세 번째, 저는 한나의 축복으로 여러분의 관심을 끌고자 합니다. 그녀는 아이를 낳지 못하는 여인이었습니다. 그녀의 적수는 항상 그녀를 화나게 했고 조롱했습니다. 하나님께서 관심이 없으시다, 아이를 낳을 수 없다 등등. 하지만 한나는 주님을 신뢰했고 믿음을 잃지 않았습니다. 매년 그녀는 성전으로 가서 기도했습니다.

사무엘상 1 : 6

여호와께서 그에게 임신하지 못하게 하시므로 그의 적수인 브닌나가 그를 심히 격분하게 하여 괴롭게 하더라.

하나님은 그녀를 축복하셨고 그녀는 사무엘을 낳아서 하나님께 돌려드렸습니다. 하나님은 그녀를 일곱 배 축복하셨습니다.

사무엘상 2 : 5

풍족하던 자들은 양식을 위하여 품을 팔고 주리던 자들은 다시 주리지 아니하도다

전에 임신하지 못하던 자는 일곱을 낳았고 많은 자녀를 둔 자는 쇠약하도다.

결론 :-

우리 모두 갑절의 축복을 받기 원하지만 축복을 받은 전후로 무엇을 해야 할지 모릅니다. 누군가 오늘 고통을 겪고 있다면 틀림없이 하나님께서 갑절로 축복하실 것입니다. 기다리며 기도하십시오. 엘리사, 욥, 한나, 아브라함 등등의 발자취를 따르십시오. 틀림없이 하나님께서 여러분을 축복하실 것입니다.

신명기 28 : 8 (전반) ~~~ 여호와께서 명령하사 네 창고와 네 손으로 하는 모든 일에 복을 내리시고.

요한계시록 1 : 3

이 예언의 말씀을 읽는 자와 듣는 자와 그 가운데에 기록한 것을 지키는 자는 복이 있나니 때가 가까움이라
