Non Famous or Non Familiar people of the Bible.

Friends, there are lots of famous Major Prophets, Minor prophets, Kings, and leaders in the whole Holy Bible. We can read their names in the Holy Bible. We heard the sermons about them and pastors gave the us the examples of those people. Brothers and sisters, today I am not going to share with you any famous or familiar person of the Bible but I am going to share a few simple and non-famous people of the Bible. These Non Familiar or Non Famous people of the Holy Bible did wonderful & marvelous things for the Lord. Those people did a great role in Christianity & teach us a wonderful lessons by their deeds.

Revelation 2 : 10

Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in

prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even

to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.

1. Deaconess Lydia. (Acts 16 : 14 ~ 15)

Let me ask you a question. Did you ever heard the name LYDIA? I am sure many of us are not familiar with this name. Lydia was business woman and she was dealing in purple cloth. Once Paul and Silas were preaching and Lydia heard the Word of God carefully and she opened her heart for the Lord Jesus.

Acts 16 : 14 ~ 15

One of those listening was a woman from the city of Thyatira named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. - When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. “If you consider me a believer in the Lord,” she said, “come and stay at my house.” And she persuaded us.

Dear friends, I want to share little bit about the faith of this deaconess or woman Lydia.

⓵ She was devoted woman. (Acts 16 : 14 She was a worshiper of God.)

⓶ She & her household were baptized. (Acts 16 : 15 members of her household were baptized,)

⓷ She opened her house & heart for Jesus. (Acts 16 : 15 come & stay at my house. And she persuaded us.)

Lydia open her house for Paul & Silase. Do we open our heart, house & pocket for the Lord & his people?

Colossians 3 : 23

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."

2. Deaconess Tabitha. (Acts 9 : 36 ~ 43)

Secondly, I want to ask you about deaconess Tabitha. Did you ever heard this name before. I am sure not cause she is not famous like other women. Tabitha was also kind hearted, generous & helping others. One day she died and when followers of Lord Jesus heard that Peter is in a city. They call him at once.

Acts 9 : 36

36. In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor. 39. Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them. 40. Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.”

She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.

Dear friends, I want to share little bit about the faith of this deaconess or woman Tabitah.

⓵ She was doing good & helping poor. (Acts 9 : 36 she was always doing good & helping the poor.)

⓶ She used her talent to help others. (Acts 9 : 39 she made and clothes while she was alive.)

⓷ She used the talent to praise God. (Acts 9 : 39 she made and clothes while she was alive.)

⓸ Peter prayed & dead Tabitha risen. (Acts 9 : 40 “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes,)

Tabitha did good things & help others. Tabitha used her talent to praise God.

Do we help others & use our talent to praise God?

1st. Samuel 12 : 24 (ESV) (Serve God and His people)

Only fear the Lord & serve Him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things He has done for you.

3. An old widow.  (Mark 12 : 41 ~ 44 and Luke 21 : 1 ~ 4)

Friends, not only young people, God used old & poor people too. Once, when Jesus was in the temple. People brought their offerings. Some gave big amount & some little. An old lady gave all what she had.

Mark 12 : 42 ~ 44 (Jesus appreciated this widow)

But a poor widow came & put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling His disciples to Him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything all she had to live on.”

⓵ Lord is watching us carefully. (Luke 21 : 1 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins)

⓶ Rich people show off. (Mark 12 : 41 Many rich people threw in large amounts.)

⓷ She gave everything to God. (Mark 12 : 44 but she, out of her poverty, put in everything all she had to live on.)

⓸ She was appreciated by Jesus. (Mark 12 : 44 Calling His disciples to Him, Jesus said,)

God is not interested in huge offerings. God is interested in good hearts. Always give happily.

2nd. Corinthians 9 : 7

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give,

not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

4. Deacon Stephen. (Acts chapter 6, 7, 8, 11 & 22)

Let me ask you about the name Stephen. How many of you know about Stephen? Stephen was a wonderful person with a very strong faith. We don’t know he was married or single cause Bible is silent about that.

Acts 6 : 8

Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders & signs among the people.

⓵ Filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 6 : 5 Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit.)

⓶ He was chosen by Apostles. (Acts 6 : 6 Apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.)

⓷ He did amazing things. (Acts 6 : 8 performed great wonders & signs among the people.)

⓸ His face was like an angel. (Acts 6 : 15 they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.)

⓹ He was stoned but he pray. (Acts 7 : 59 While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed)

⓺ He forgave all, who stoned him. (Acts 7 : 59 “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.”)

Friends, God’s grace & power was on Stephen & he performed great wonders & signs among the people.

It’s time to ask God for His grace & anointing of the Holy Spirit to do amazing things like Stephen.

Ephesians 6 : 10 ~~~ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.

Lesson for you and me.

Brothers & sister what we have to learn from these Non Famous or Non Familiar people of the Bible.

Friends, we can see the life of Lydia. She opened her heart, house & pocket for the Lord. Do we open?

Tabitha, she used her talent to help others freely. Do we use our talent to help others or hide our talent?

An old lady never worried about tomorrow. She gave, what she had. How about us? Do give God or not?

Stephen a wonderful faithful brother. He died for the Lord. Can we give our life for Lord Jesus or not?

There are lots of Non Famous or Non Familiar people of the Bible. Today, we learned about four people.

유명하지 않거나 친숙하지 않은 성경의 인물들

성경 전체에는 유명하고 중요한 선지자들, 보다 덜 유명한 선지자들, 왕들, 지도자들이 많이 있습니다. 우리는 성경 전체에서 그들의 이름을 읽을 수 있습니다. 우리는 그들에 대해서 설교를 들었고 목사들은 그러한 사람들의 예를 들어줍니다. 형제자매 여러분, 오늘 저는 유명하거나 친숙한 성경의 인물들에 대해 나누려는 것이 아니라 다소 간단하고 유명하지 않은 성경의 인물에 대해 나누려고 합니다.

성경에서 이러한 친숙하지 않거나 유명하지 않은 사람들이 주님을 위하여 훌륭하고 놀라운 일을 했습니다.

그러한 사람들이 기독교에서 위대한 역할을 했고 행동으로 우리에게 훌륭한 교훈을 가르칩니다.

요한계시록 2:10

너는 장차 받을 고난을 두려워하지 말라 볼지어다 마귀가 장차 너희 가운데에서 몇 사람을 옥에 던져 시험을 받 게 하리니 너희가 십 일 동안 환난을 받으리라 네가 죽도록 충성하라 그리하면 내가 생명의 관을 네게 주리라.

1. 여집사 루디아 (사도행전 16:14-15)

질문하겠습니다. 루디아라는 이름을 들어본 적 있습니까? 우리 중 많은 사람이 이 이름이 친숙하지 않을 것이라고 확신합니다. 루디아는 사업가였고 자색 옷감을 취급하고 있었습니다. 어느 날 바울과 실라가 전하고 있을 때 루디아가 하나님 말씀을 주의깊게 듣고 주 예수에 대해 마음을 열었습니다.

사도행전 16 : 14 ~ 15

두아디라 시에 있는 자색 옷감 장사로서 하나님을 섬기는 루디아라 하는 한 여자가 말을 듣고 있을 때 주께서 그 마음을 열어 바울의 말을 따르게 하신지라 그와 그 집이 다 세례를 받고 우리에게 청하여

이르되 만일 나를 주 믿는 자로 알거든 내 집에 들어와 유하라 하고 강권하여 머물게 하니라.

여집사 루디아의 믿음에 대해 잠간 나누고자 합니다.

⓵ 그녀는 헌신적인 사람이었습니다.

(사도행전 16 : 14 그녀는 하나님을 예배하는 사람이었습니다.)

⓶ 그녀와 그녀의 남편은 세례받았습니다.

(사도행전 16 : 15 그녀의 가족은 세례받았습니다.)

⓷ 그녀는 예수를 위해 집을 개방하고 마음을 열었습니다.

(사도행전 16 : 15 그녀는 내 집에 들어와 유하라고 강권했습니다.

루디아는 바울과 실라를 위해 집을 개방했습니다.

우리는 주님과 그분의 사람들을 위해 마음과 집과 주머니를 엽니까?

골로새서 3 : 23 ~~ 무슨 일을 하든지 마음을 다하여 주께 하듯 하고 사람에게 하듯 하지 말라.

2. 여집사 다비다. (사도행전 9 : 36 ~ 43)

두 번째, 저는 여집사 다비다에 대해 여러분에게 묻고자 합니다. 전에 이 이름을 들어본적 있습니까? 다른 여인처럼 유명하지 않기 때문에 확실히 아닐 것이라 생각합니다. 다비다는 마음씨가 착하고 관대하고 다른 사람을 도와주는 사람이었습니다. 어느 날 그녀가 죽었는데 주 예수를 따르는 사람들이 그것을 들었을 때 베드로는 그 성 안에 있었고 그들은 즉시 그를 불렀습니다.

사도행전 9:36, 39-40

36 욥바에 다비다라 하는 여제자가 있으니 그 이름을 번역하면 도르가라 선행과 구제하는 일이 심히 많더니

39 베드로가 일어나 그들과 함께 가서 이르매 그들이 데리고 다락방에 올라가니 모든 과부가 베드로 곁에 서서 울며 도르가가 그들과 함께 있을 때에 지은 속옷과 겉옷을 다 내보이거늘 베드로가 사람을 다 내보내고 무릎을 꿇고 기도하고 돌이켜 시체를 향하여 이르되 다비다야 일어나라 하니 그가 눈을 떠 베드로를 보고 일어나 앉는지라.

여집사 다비다의 믿음에 대해 잠간 나누고자 합니다.

⓵ 그녀는 선행과 가난한 자를 돕고 있었습니다.

(사도행전 9 : 36 그녀는 항상 선행과 구제를 했습니다.)

⓶ 그녀는 다른 사람을 돕는데 자신의 재능을 사용했습니다.

(사도행전 9 : 39 그녀가 살아있는 동안에 옷을 지었습니다.)

⓷ 그녀는 하나님을 찬양하기 위해 재능을 사용했습니다.

(사도행전 9 : 39 그녀가 살아있는 동안 옷을 지었습니다.)

⓸ 베드로는 기도했고 죽은 다비다가 살아났습니다.

(사도행전 9 : 40 “다비다야 일어나라” 그녀는 눈을 떴습니다.)

다비다는 선행과 구제를 했습니다. 다비다는 하나님을 찬양하기 위해 자신의 재능을 사용했습니다.

우리는 다른 사람을 돕고 하나님을 찬양하기 위해 재능을 사용합니까?

사무엘상 12 : 24 (하나님과 그분의 사람을 섬겼습니다.)

너희는 여호와께서 너희를 위하여 행하신 그 큰 일을 생각하여

오직 그를 경외하며 너희의 마음을 다하여 진실히 섬기라.

3. 한 늙은 과부. (마가복음 12 : 41 ~ 44, 누가복음 21 : 1 ~ 4)

하나님은 젊은 사람뿐 아니라 늙고 가난한 사람도 사용하십니다.

예수님이 성전에 계실 때 사람들이 예물을 가져왔습니다. 어떤 이는 많게, 어떤 이는 적게 드렸습니다. 한 늙은 여인이 자신이 가진 전부를 드렸습니다.

마가복음 12 : 42 ~ 44 (예수님은 이 과부를 인정하셨습니다.)

한 가난한 과부가 와서 두 렙돈 곧 한 고드란트를 넣는지라 예수께서 제자들을 불러다가 이르시되 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 이 가난한 과부는 헌금함에 넣는 모든 사람보다 많이 넣었도다 그들은 다 그 풍족한 중에서 넣었거니와 이 과부는 그 가난한 중에서 자기의 모든 소유 곧 생활비 전부를 넣었느니라 하시니라.

⓵ 주님이 주의 깊게 우리를 지켜보고 계십니다.

(누가복음 21 : 2 그분은 가난한 과부가 매우 작은 돈을 넣는 것을 보셨습니다.)

⓶ 부자들은 자랑했습니다. (마가복음 12 : 41 여러 부자는 많이 넣었습니다.)

⓷ 그녀는 하나님께 전부를 드렸습니다.

(마가복음 12 : 44 그녀는 자신의 모든 소유 곧 생활비 전부를 넣었습니다.)

⓸ 그녀는 예수님께 인정받았습니다. (마가복음 12 : 43 제자들을 불러다가 말씀하셨습니다.)

하나님은 매우 큰 예물에 관심있는 것이 아닙니다. 선한 마음에 관심 있습니다. 항상 기쁘게 드리십시오.

고린도후서 9 : 7

각각 그 마음에 정한 대로 할 것이요 인색함으로나 억지로 하지 말지니 하나님은 즐겨 내는 자를 사랑하시는니라.

4. 집사 스데반. (사도행전 6, 7, 8, 11, 22장)

스데반에 대해 질문하겠습니다. 스데반에 대해 얼마나 아십니까? 스데반은 매우 굳건한 믿음을 가진 훌륭한 사람이었습니다. 성경이 언급하지 않기 때문에 우리는 그가 결혼했는지 독신인지 모릅니다.

사도행전 6 : 8 ~~ 스데반이 은혜와 권능이 충만하여 큰 기사와 표적을 민간에 행하니.

⓵ 성령으로 충만했습니다. (사도행전 6 : 5 스데반은 믿음과 성령이 충만한 사람이었습니다.)

⓶ 그는 사도들에 의해 선택되었습니다. (사도행전 6 : 6 사도들이 기도하고 그들에게 안수했습니다.)

⓷ 그는 놀라운 일을 행했습니다. (사도행전 6 : 8 큰 기사와 표적을 민간에 행했습니다.)

⓸ 그의 얼굴이 천사와 같았습니다. (사도행전 6 : 15 그의 얼굴이 천사의 얼굴과 같음을 보았습니다.)

⓹ 그는 돌로 맞았으나 기도했습니다. (사도행전 7 : 59 그들이 돌로 스데반을 칠 때 그는 기도했습니다.)

⓺ 그는 돌로 친 사람들을 모두 용서했습니다. (사도행전 7 : 59 “주여 이 죄를 그들에게 돌리지 마옵소서.”)

하나님의 은혜와 권능이 스데반에게 임하여 큰 기사와 표적을 사람들 중에서 행했습니다.

스데반처럼 놀라운 일을 행하기 위해 하나님의 은혜와 성령의 기름부음을 그분께 구할 때입니다.

에베소서 6 : 10 ~~ 끝으로 너희가 주 안에서와 그 힘의 능력으로 강건하여지고

여러분과 저를 위한 교훈 :-

형제자매 여러분, ‘유명하지 않거나 친숙하지 않은 성경의 인물들’에서 우리는 무엇을 배워야 합니까?

우리는 루디아의 삶을 볼 수 있습니다. 그녀는 마음과 집과 주머니를 열었습니다. 우리는 엽니까?

다비다는 다른 사람을 기꺼이 돕기 위해 재능을 사용했습니다. 우리는 다른 사람을 돕기 위해 재능을 사용합니까? 재능을 숨깁니까? 늙은 과부는 내일을 염려하지 않았습니다. 그녀가 가진 것을 드렸습니다. 우리는 어떻습니까? 하나님께 드립니까? 스데반은 훌륭하고 신실한 형제였습니다. 그는 주님을 위해 죽었습니다. 주 예수를 위해 우리의 생명을 드릴 수 있습니까?

유명하지 않거나 익숙하지 않은 성경의 인물이 많이 있습니다. 오늘 우리는 네 사람에 대해 배웠습니다.
